I'm also surprised by this. It's more steps to rely on (and the mail is just not that reliable nowadays..). Just order it in a local store and pick it up. You have to be fast at pre-ordering though since there is a limited amount of consoles. I think in my case there were 39.

The only local game store we have is Game, no way was I relying on a company that went into administration earlier this year, and super markets aren't too reliable with stock levels

Didn't preorder and trying to simply walk-in to Big W was my plan...

Was there doing some XMas shopping and saw a bunch of signs around the electronic area saying they'll be in-store tomorrow. Asked the dude if they were gonna have any available and he said no they only have 9 and thats because they had 9 preorders for it...and that I could preorder for a shipment around or after XMas.

Bad idea to try that in Australia, I don't think we got very many allocated to us and we'll have a pretty large shortage. Hope you can track one down.

I think they will probably all arrive on Friday because they don't want any bad beef with Sony for breaking street date. Saying that my Vita came two days before release from ShopTo so I guess it's possible.

I don't like the concept of giving out interest free loans. I see no reason why I should have to put money down to secure a preorder, especially something as small as 20 pounds.

If you have the day 1 delivery I wouldn't panic at 3pm

I said quite a lot of pages back, I always order 1 day delivery and on larger items they can sometimes dispatch very late. I had a big box sent out at 10:30PM on tuesday night, and it still arrived at 11am the next morning.
