You guys got it working online?

PSNfucker/lover.prx works with it online. 620.prx lets me run the demo without having to get a patched version.

Problem is getting it to import my PSP1 characters. *sigh*

Edit:

It shows these for both memory cards I've tried, so I wonder if that's the contents of the PSP's internal memory?

Your vsh menu/recovery menu has the usb mode set to flash0:, go into the menus and change it back to "memory stick"

Ahhhhh interesting and that sucks. I guess since I don't have a PS3 I won't be playing any PSN demos.

What about games you buy yourself (from PSN) will they work? I've been contemplating buying some but didn't want to since the I couldn't even get the freaking demos to work.
I haven't purchased any games other then PS1 classics off the PSN, I go for the UMD release because I like having a manual. The PS1 classics work great though.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Speaking of GBA, everything runs fullspeed for me except FFVI, which runs like crap. Is there something I can do to fix that?

Hey gaf, got a favor.
Can you please inform me about the current psp homebrew scene?
After the recent announcements of Kingdom hearts being a psp fat/slim exclusive, and the Ghost of sparta bundle.. I'm seriously considering trading/selling my psp go for a new slim.

Just wondering what some of the benefits of hacking my psp would be?..

1. Emulators galore
2. Region free games
3. Still have access to the PS store
4. Recovery so if you're PSP gets bricked you have a way to fix it
5. Quite a few different applications that are enjoyable
6. Play back ups from your memory card
7. And much more

You know of any places where I can read up on this?.. Seems interesting! Def should have looked into this last year before saving up for a Go!

Oh, and it's pretty good.

It amazes me that GBA emulation, and heck even Neo Geo emulation seems to be pretty good, while the SNES emulator is awful. Super Metroid runs really bad on it.

I don't know if it's real or not, but someone supposedly leaked an internal development version of 6.31M33-I DC9 Beta. I hope the M33 group really is working on a new custom firmware.

FFVI works fine for me. However, Golden Sun crashes, and Golden Sun the Lost Age has absolutely terrible sound quality. Has anyone had success with either GS game?

I've got two 16GB Sandisk micrSDHCs in my PSP for 32GBs total. :D
The only issue is a slightly laggy (at times) XMB.

Edit - I'm using the Photofast microSDHC to MSPD adapter, though.

Must be nice with the 32GB ... good to hear. I'm sold.

I just did this over the weekend using this guide. It's very easy. Upgrade to 5.00 M33-6 and then to 5.50 GEN D3.

Thanks for the link. Just turned my PSP on for the first time in a few years and it's time to get it back in action.

Edit - figured it out.

Except those don't matter when freaking games after 5.55 for PSX emulator (FF8, Dino Crisis, FF9, ...) want a higher POPs than the one currently available.

FFS, GEN, get off your asses and give me a goddamn PSX emulator update so I can play my PSN bought FF9 on the PSP. :|

So I have 2 PSPs, both have CFW. I'm selling one of them and the person who's buying it doesn't want the CFW to be on it. It has 5.50 GEN-D2 on it, and I'm not 100% sure on how to upgrade back to the latest OFW without bricking it. Assistance please?

after getting a modded demo of psp2, i decided to try out psnlover. So i think i had it set up, but when i go into the psn store, it tells me that the servers are down for maintenance. Is there a recent psn lover, or is there some sort of fix?

Have you tested PSP2's online mode itself? Don't worry about the store. Worry about getting online in the game(s) themselves.

I tried that shortly after posting the last message, and after the sign in prompt, it tells me that i need to update the system software. Is there anyone that got it to work online with custom firmware?

It sounds like your PSNfucker is screwed up. I have it set up along with 620.prx (for store download/decrypts) and it runs fine for me.

Is there a difference between fucker and lover? Is one better than the other?

Oh and the joke isn't lost on me, by the way

Both the same thing. Just "lover" sounds nicer so they went with that and changed the name.

Did you edit your SEplugin files, BTW? I'm forgetting the file types, but if you're using CWCheat, you had to edit the whatever "flash0:/seplugins/cwcheat 1" type file with a similar path but to "psnfucker/lover 1" amended.

Im pretty sure i updated my vsh.txt file. Where there any others, or was there something else i need to do?

To be honest, i think i might have to just do this process all over again. Do you know of a guide through this process?

So no benefits then?

EDIT: I do have another question actually. I have a ton of folders that I don't think i need anymore. Can anyone help me out with which ones to delete.

In the root folder I've still go MP_ROOT since back when you had to change the file names, I don't think i need those anymore.

In the ISO Folder I have video. is that for UMD Backups or do i need that anymore?

And in the PSP Folder I have COMMON, GAME, GAME150, GAME380, License, and I think the rest I need.

Can I get rid of COMMON, GAME150 and GAME380?

Did you edit the game.txt file as well to include psnlover? You do need to do that.

I have had no problems running FF9 on my PSP. I purchased and moved it from my PS3 and it works great.

An odd little request, apparently simple but we'll see:

Anyone able to recommend an application that'll allow me to rename files on the memory stick? The only one I've found is Xplora, but that has the annoying side-effect that it seems to be unable to quit safely on my PSP, instead doing a cold reboot - which, given I'm currently using ChickHEN to run homebrew, means jumping through quite a few hoops to get up and running again.

Another dumb and obvious question but you did go into the recovery menu and enable the plug-in there right? A buddy of mine did everything but that and couldn't connect.

i did. both the vsh and the game versions come up, and both are enabled. the funny thing is, if i ever get this thing to work, it will most likely be because of something i overlooked

i figured out my problem, and it was all due to my negliegence. thanks to Xeno_Flux and TheSeks for trying to help me with my problem.

I'm glad you asked this because it gives me a nice segue.

I was just reading about a Prometheus Installer for M33-6 and I was wondering has anybody used it and if so is time to drop GEN and go back to all the nice stuff that M33 has to offer?

Oh man, I had this exact same problem, I actually had to download it from my PS3 and install it on to my PSP from there, then it worked. Its the same for a few others here.

Actually, PSNFucker is just a really old version, and is less effective.
It was renamed to PSNLover a few versions ago.
PSNLover 1.2 (beta, IIRC) is the most recent release, having come out a few days ago.

So, I decided to upgrade anyway. I'm on GEN-D3 Final now but don't have Prometheus.

I enabled the Flash player and WMA player, but when I put a flash movie into my PSP it doesn't show up in the /VIDEO section. Also, I put a Windows Media Audio/Video file in into /VIDEO folder and it didn't play that either(they didn't even show up as corrupted or unsupported data also).

Any help would be great, or a name for a homebrew app that allows other media types would be wonderful. thanks all.

It doesnt work that way... The WMA is only for Windows Media Audio files, and you need to put them on the music folder. And the flash player is only for the web browser, you cant play WMV nor FLV files on the PSP.

Well, damn. What can it play then? And what's a good converter software?

so I wanna play Peace Walker...

I dont think there's any workaround playing the UMD off a cfw, so I decided to bust out my old phat PSP and just update it.

when I try to update from 3.52 m33-4 to 6.20, I get the error message:

The game could not be started.
(DADADADA)

dadadada?? lol, was that programmed in by the CFW makers to prevent me from updating OFW??

anyways... I still cant play Peace Walker ;_;

Doesn't the latest Prometheus thingie allow Peacewalker to work?

I haven't kept up since I patched up ages ago (and since VC2 works perfectly), but you can play games off UMD with CFW now.

BladeoftheImmortal said:

mp4s. If you google, you should be able to find a converter.
I'm not sure if it can do divx now though.

I too havent kept up, but my half-assed google searching lead me to believe Peace Walker only works off patched ISO, even with prometheus...

hopefully I am wrong?

regardless Ill check prometheus out, what is the latest version so I know Im getting the correct one??

firehawk12

Hrm, no idea then since I haven't picked up Peacewalker yet.

The last time I checked, you had to go from 5.50 GEND2 to Prometheus 4? But there could already be new versions now.

sweeeet~!! I got it to work!!

(I think... lol!)

Prometheus CFW v 4 apparently... it's a CFW on its own...

I was able to update from Gen D-3 to it!!

Peace Walker is now running and installing... I hope it doesnt freeze during gameplay! ^_^''

thanks a lot too!!! u saved me from losing my old CFW phatty!!

now I can still keep using my old skool homebrew like psp kick lol.

I personally tested Peace Walker and Valkyria Chronicles II.
Both work from UMD or unpatched ISO with 5.50 Gen-D3 patched with Prometheus v4.
The whole point of the Prometheus CFW patch is to play newer games without requiring ISO-specific patches.
