Get XGEN Updater v5 to update to 5.50 GEN D3, and then find the Prometheus addon to update to 5.50 Prometheus, and then most current games (hopefully including Ys 7) will work.

Sounds simple enough. Thanks!

I'm not sure how, but from what you've described, the battery is acting like a pandora battery? Do you have the means to make it a normal battery again? Not entirely sure if you can via a PSP3000

That's what I'm thinking too. Your battery is acting like a pandora's battery. Do you have another battery to use? Or a friend's psp and try using his battery?

Yep, that was it. I must have accidentally pressed "Make Pandora battery" in the menu.

When it first happened, I did use the "Make normal battery" option just in case but that didn't fix it, so I assumed that wasn't the problem.

After reading your replies, I tried again but let the battery "rest" a couple of minutes first, that fixed it :D .

Thanks guys :)

Through 3 models of PSP's I have never, once, restarted my PSP after sticking in a different stick. Are you sure about that? No problems personally.

I'd expect that his stick is a knock-off from Hong Kong or something.

Don't need to restart for the MS Pro Duo to be read, but there can be weird issues (incorrect free space count, etc), especially if you're switching between sticks of different capacities.

I've been trying to get my old PSX eboots that I ripped myself working on my 5.50 GEN-D3 Prometheus PSP, but I get "The game could not be started. (80000004)" Since I've last played any eboot, I've had to change my settings so much for things like psn lover that I don't even remember the correct settings to play my PSX games anymore. Anyone have any ideas on settings I could change to get my eboots working again?

I have a phat PSP-1000 with OFW 6.10

I also have a TOOL/Pandora battery and a Sony 1gb MS that I have formatted via PSP's format feature.

I want to be able to play/rip my PS1 games and I'm wondering what the best/correct way to go about this is. I've been told that the TOOL battery can only be used once, so I'm nervous about doing this right... or at least installing the right CFW.

I'm extremely new to this and and really confused about the process. I have read the first post, and the PS1 ripping guide was useful, but I'm still a alittle confused about how to actually hack my PSP using the pandora battery and which CFW to use and how to make the magic memory stick.

I'm dual booting 6.31 and 5.00 M33-4 or something and when I play Loco Roco 2 on M33, it can't load the save menu. Probably some firmware issue. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm having a problem with a PSP1000 phat. It has 5.00 M33-3 installed on it.

Every time it's booted up it immediately goes into the M33 Recovery Menu.
I've tried to upgrade it to M33-6 thinking that might help but I can't execute the file. It starts to load and the screen with the changelog etc and Press X to continue text shows up but the end line is always that "the user has canceled"

Any ideas about how to fix this??

I've even tried using my Pandora battery and stick to see if that helps. But it always boots in the recovery menu, regardless.

Finally installed the prometheus addon. Currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 demo. :D
Just did the same thing. I am playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 demo and Phantasy Star Portable 2 demo. Unfortunately the Patapon 3 demo isn't working...

I've been contemplating on installing OFW for so long, but I'm just so reluctant, even though I have a slim that can create and use pandora. <_<

is there any way to get the official sony comic reader (or better yet a better homebrew) on any present cfw?

Having slight problems now, for the first time with my PSP. I just updated to Prometheus 5.50, and now get and error message "cannot connect. PSN may be down for service" or similar message (20001 I believe is the error number) Is PSN down, or could it be my PSP?

I'll be trying to connect at my friend's house, as I think it also might be my local internet being so slow...Thanks!

Does Prometheus allow you to connect to the PSN store to get these demos or how are you guys getting them on your PSP?
I used my PS3 to get the demo, but the PSNLover plugin has let me get things as well.

Has anyone tried to play Lunar 2 in picodrive? I make my way up the first tower, and when a cinematic starts to play I hear the sound, but the picture freezes and that's it for the game. Anyone know if the game isn't playable?

Install DC8.

Back up your NAND.

Install OFW.

Run DC8 and go into M33 TEST to run hacked firmware off the memory stick. So you can play emulators and backups. It's an old version of CFW but it works well enough.

If you ever want to go back to 5.50 GEN, restore your NAND using the other options in DC8.

Really easy.

Can anyone help me out with PSNLOVER? I have installed the psnlover.prx on my psp, And set the psp region to debug 1 in the configuration menu. I still can't connect to psn though, It keeps saying I have to update my system to conenct. What am I doing wrong please?

Edit: I'm trying to get online to play the phantasy star portable 2 demo.

Would it work on my 6.20 PSPgo or should I stick to downloading stuff through Media Go? I was doing a websearch and found no results with PSNLover and PSPgo.

Is the plug-in enabled? Did you update the vsh and game txt files?

I've just done that very thing, and still can't get Valkyria working :(

I downloaded the demo via PS3.

I notice the Prometheus folder has a bunch of .prx files - do I need to enable these as plugins somehow?

My upgrade path:

Gen-D
Xgen to Gen-D3 (checked in system info)
Prometheus patch
System info now reports '5.50 Prometheus)

The Prometheus files are all dated 24/6/10. Is that the latest version?

Cheers

So just yesterday I picked up my PSP again for the first time in well over a year. I had a Slim 2000 using 5.00 M33-6 on it and upgraded to 5.50 GEN D3 last night so I could play the games I've missed recently. Am I good to go now, or do I still need to upgrade to this 5.50 Prometheus I'm hearing about to play the newer games like Y's and Lunar.

So I just bought Ys 7 off of PSN since the Canadian release seems to have been pushed back...would anyone be able to tell me how to decrypt it and get it running on 5.50 Prometheus?

Both works on GEN D3. If not, update with Prometheus.

I keep getting this error when it's trying to decrypt:

I downloaded the demo straight to my PSP via the Store, so I have no clue as to what is up.
I'm a little fuzzy on the specifics, but I remember having to disable all of my game plugins, then try to run the demo (which should start to boot and then fail), and then NP Decryptor would work.

Zaraki_Kenpachi said:
Where is the demo even located on the PSP? I transferred it over from my PS3 and can't find it on my stick. :/
If you installed the demo on your PSP from your PS3 it should be under the games on the XMB. If its not there try reinstalling it to your PSP.

So I purchased a used PSP-2000 (the white star wars one). It's on OFW 5.51

I have no idea what the motherboard in it is (since it could have been refurbished or serviced at some point). I understand there is PSPIdent which I can use to determine this but I'm uncertain of how best to run homebrew apps like that.

Can I still use Chickenhen to run homebrew on OFW 5.51 (conflicting info I've read on whether the 5.03 OFW requirement is for just firmware flashing or using chickenhen at all).

There is another homebrew enabler linked in the later part of this thread which I wasn't familiar with beforehand. It looks like I would need to upgrade my firmware to at least 6.1 since that requires the patapon demo to work. Is there any disadvantage to doing this for me (who is sitting at OFW 5.51 right now).

Thanks for anyone who can clear this up. I just want to figure out the best way so I can check the mobo (I'm hoping I can go the full custom firmware route but I'm not about to make a pandora battery for no reason).

Not on XMB, I'm trying to locate it on the memory stick so I can rename it to try and rip the DRM off it to use it.

So I did this myself cause I was thinking about buying some games off PSN for an upcoming trip. I was able to create a PSN account, and can log into the store no problem. I can even download demos and such, but when I go to play them I always get an error.

Anyone know a solution for this? Is there a new add-on to be able to play PSP demos? I have psnlover installed.

Ah then it would be in the psp folder on your mem stick and then in the game folder. I didn't have to rip the DRM off of mine. I just installed it on my PSP from my PS3 and prometheus did the auto-decrypt red screen and I was able to play it.

Hmm, I'll have to upgrade to prometheus then. I don't think I have that installed.

Edit: Holy shit, does prometheus really install that quick? Red screen and it boots!!!!!!! Thanks man, you're a life saver! :D

I've got a bit of a strange problem. I was going to rip Ys VII and no matter what I set USB Device to, my computer always reads the memory card. Has that ever happened to anyone before?

Edit: That's weird. If I disable the Remote Joy plugins, it works fine.

I have a CFW PSP-1000, non-Pandora (originally hacked back when there was a CFW hack that didn't require any games at all, maybe circa OFW 2.7 or so) on 3.90 M33-3

What's my best bet for dumping and playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep two weeks from now? 3.90 M33-3 -> 5.50 GEN-? -> 5.50 GEN-D3, right? Or can I go direct to GEN-D3? Or should I be using 5.50 Prometheus instead? And then what special programs are needed to dump or spoof firmware for BBS?

Edit: Looks like 3.90 M33-3 -> 5.00 M33-6 -> 5.50 GEN-D3 -> 5.50 Prometheus is what I should do?

You can stay in the M33 line with 5.00M33-6 and use the 6.20 prx plugin to play newer games but I'm not sure what firmware KH:BBS is going to be(praying its 6.20). Initially had trouble with it(had not enabled GAME plugins) but now it runs great. Been playing the PSP2 demo and didn't have to decrypt it.

Okay, I'm on 5.50 Prometheus. Excellent.

So, for UMD dumping is UMD DAX Dumper Beta 0.2 still the most updated piece of software? My PSP tells me I installed it on March 18, 2008, so probably not :p

To dump a UMD, just changed the USB Device setting in the VSH Menu to UMD Disc and connect the PSP to your computer with USB Mode. There's no reason at all to use a program to dump UMDs.

If it still works I don't see any reason to change. If you're looking for something newer, though, I use PSP Filer, which is a general file management program with some useful functions like UMD ripping and arranging icons in the game menu. That's still updated fairly regularly.

I use UMDumper, since it dumps right to the PSP memory stick. EDIT: Actually, it seems to have issues with GEN. Boo.
