oh god i thought i had everything running correctly then when i started BBS up my PSP turned off

edit: oh god its doing it when i start any program whatsoever help
When I went from 1v4 to 2, that happened the first time I booted it (I commented in this thread about it I believe), but since then it's been fine for me.
EDIT: It crashed that once on BbS that is, not anything else, just to be clear.

UMDumper worked like a charm. The only problem is that the UMD rips take a ton of space (I was only able to fit BbS and Dissidia in my 4gb stick). Is there a way to compress the games?

Also, have they finally come up with a streamlined way to get RemoteJoy working? I was never able to pull it off before.

I think there's a CSO option in UMDumper that will compress them. Alternately, since you already have them ripped, there are multiple CSO compressors available for PC and Mac. Word of warning, though: CSOs increase load times in games.

And in the games that are optimized to stream from UMD, introduce significant, even game-breaking performance issues.

...I think it's already been mentioned, but Ghost of Sparta doesn't work on cfw. Not that big a deal, but I would have liked to see it in action before I got my copy.

What am i looking at difficulty wise to upgrade my PSP firmware, which hasn't been touched since Dark Alex's 3.30 CFW before he left the scene back 3years ago.

Will i need to remove to remove the CFW, then update to the Promethus CFWs. Or can i update it directly the latest CFW build?
I'm hoping to get this sorted out in time for the Tactics Ogre release.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Its been a long time since i updated my CWF PSP.

What the fastest way to upgrade from 5.00 M33-6 ( my psp) to 5.50 Prometheus 2 ( thats the latest/best i suupose ?) ?

1) Install 5.50 Gen-D3 using their XGen updater.
2) Install the Prometheus-2 CFW patch on top of that.
Done!

Your update path might be a little more complicated since your CFW is so old. I don't remember the exact details for bridging the older CFWs to the newer, but try this:
1) Install 5.00 M33.
2) Install 5.50 Gen-D3.
3) Install Prometheus-2 CFW patch.

If the first step fails (which is possible if your current CFW is too old, install 4.00 M33 first. If step 2 fails, install the 5.00 M33-6 patch before 5.50 Gen-D3.

It does? I've been seeing pics like this.

Thats sony's marketing for ya :lol

The 3000 was just an excuse by sony for a new hardware revision to counter the pandora. The screen has serve interlacing issues and the picture quality is the same as the 2000 on brightness level 4, only difference is the higher contrast that the 2000 can do anyway but sony won't let you.

Very few games actually take more than a gig; BbS, Dissidia, LocoRoco2, Crisis Core, and God of War are basically the only ones that do... of course, those are also some of the most popular games on the system, so...

Does UMDumper work on Prometheus-2 CFW. the site says it only works with M33. Just seeing if anyone has used it.

I'm on Prometheus-1 and it works for me with the exception of the built-in mini-game you can play to pass the time while dumping is happening. That's super busted.

Thanks. I want to play brave story off of my MS now.

That's weird, I just tried logging in and it worked fine. I'm on 5.50 Prometheus v4.

Are you properly setting up and enabling the plug-in?
There might be a plug-in conflict as well.
Try disabling some other plug-ins to see if you can sniff out the problem.

so. I have a Phat that's still going strong but is showing its age. should I upgrade to a 2000 or a 3000? and how should I got about finding one that will allow me to do all the homebrew stuff I've been enjoying on my Phat w/ 5.00 M33-6?
anybody?

Hmm.. tried Prom-2 5.03 with KH:BBS UMD on PSP 3000. The UMD doesn't want to load until I install the latest update.

Sucks when you decide to really buy a legit copy and it doesn't work :/

PSNfucker/lover works, but it's giving me 800 errors in the PSN store and makes it a bitch to download things. I can't even buy because that error doesn't let me add things. Well, it does, but then it promptly removes them from my cart.

Sucks.

Also it seems to be hanging on MGS5's online/extra mode for DLC. Thankfully, I can get DLC still and once it's done downloading even if it hangs I have the content.

I'm glad you asked this because it gives me a nice segue.

I was just reading about a Prometheus Installer for M33-6 and I was wondering has anybody used it and if so is time to drop GEN and go back to all the nice stuff that M33 has to offer?

I'll answer my own inquiry.

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!

All of the features for M33 + Prometheus = Love.

I'd say downgrade if you want but if you're still on M33-6 then install Prometheus on that instead.

I asked about this in the VC2 thread, but this is probably a better place...

Anyhow, I have 5.50 Gen-D3 patched with Prometheus v4 as has been suggested in this thread, and just ripped my Valkyria 2 UMD to the memory stick. Everything seems to load and play correctly, but I noticed my save file for the game says "Corrupted Data". Despite this, it seems to load and save correctly in game. Is this something I should be worried about before I get too far into the game?

firehawk12 said:
Hrm. I know patching can corrupt old save files, but I've never heard of it corrupting after...

Yeah, that's why I find it extra puzzling. I can delete the corrupted Valkyria 2 save, start a new one, and it always comes up as "Corrupted Data". Like I said, it seems to work fine, but I don't want to get 20 hours into the game to find out I'm hosed.

Totally confused - have a 2000, I installed 5.50 GEN-D3 Final, and tried to install Prometheus-2. Put everything in PSP/GAME/UPDATE, but when I go to access it from the XMB it says `Corrupted Data'. Same with Prometheus v4. Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Awesome. I'll try out your suggestion asap.

I don't have any other plugins on my PSP. PSNLover is enabled for GAME and VSH. If I set Fake Region to disabled I get "currently the server may be down... (20000001)". If I set Fake Region to Debug Type I I get the message to update my fw. Do I need to update my version.txt file or something?

Ok Now i"m in some trouble. Upgraded from Gen-D3 to Prometheus2 and now my saved games are corrupt?!?

Help!

OK I think I got it working by installing Promethus_v4 then Promethus MOD-1 then the m33_620.prx plugin.

edit2: well now PW doesn't seem to be working right. It hangs when trying to get into the mission menu. No matter what I do, I can't seem to play Peace Walker. Either it hangs when trying to enter missions or it says my saves are corrupt.

What is the deal with the corrupt saves. Will I lose my saves if I go back to OFW?

So I have my eye on this silver PSP 2001, mint condition, OFW 3.80. I heard though that some motherboards from the 2000 series are unhackable. How do I check which motherboard the PSP has?

I think you go by the serial number barcode thing on the bottom of the PSP.

I just bought the limited edition white star wars psp 2001 from a gamestop with 3.80 firmware. It's has a lot of minor scratches on it, so I am wondering what kind of product can I buy to remove them? I have a dremel, could I buffed the scratches off with it or that isn't a good idea?

I finally did it. I gave up trying to keep up with this cfw mess and just went to ofw. I really wasn't using cfw for anything anymore lately so figured I'd stop struggling.

Unfortunately it looks like my Peace Walker save now refuses to load (says 'data is corrupt'). I was afraid of this but was prepared for it. I was having problems with the game as soon as upgraded to Prometheus. :/

If I ever want to go back I'll have to find a pandora battery.

You could've made your battery a Pandora and installed an IPL loader. That way you could have OFW but by holding down a button on boot, you have a Pandora again.

I want to buy a Photofast and a couple 16GB cards. Does anyone know a good, reliable seller on Amazon that sells the real products and not bootleg versions?

YES!!!!

I just updated my PSP 2001 to 5.50 GEN-D3!!

I have two requests now. What will I need to do to make my PSN games work on here? And what would I need to rip my UMDs?
