PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Updated my psp1000 as advised above and FFVIII does indeed work properly now. I installed 6.60ME in order to keep 1.50 kernel capability, but need to know what posloader I need to install as well. Seems to be a lot of confusing info out there. Thanks
Whoa whoa, it actually works good now? As in no diablos gravijah and drawing crashes? I remember holding the brightness button (to turn the screen off) to fix this. At some point it got so bad I stopped playing

Just buying it on the store is good stuff too, but if these things are fixed I'll give it another shot on the Go

For the pops, check out 3.71 I think

I have purposely done a ton of drawing and scans (both things that caused me a lot of issues on my old converted FFVIII) and neither have caused any issues at all so far.

Had done some more reading up and found plenty of people playing the game just fine when on latest firmware and using the PSN version :)

Dumb question: If I purchase a new PSP, does CFW work with the 3000 model, or should I seek a refurb 2000?

All PSP's should work with CFW now.

I just recently CFW my 3000 & PSP GO. It's so ridiculously easy to do it now.

Pretty much copy and paste a file into a folder, then just load said file. The cool thing is that you can always revert to normal firmware when you want. Just restart the system. Want CFW again? Click the file and bam! CFW. Easy stuff and hella convenient.

Just follow the instructions here:

Any questions and I'm sure you'll get an answer in this thread.

Running off of Custom Firmware
6.20 Pro CFW can be perma-patched on PSPGOs. At least on earlier Go units, like mine. Got mine in early 2011, for reference, before theY started to come preloaded with 6.30 and up!

I even use a simple version.txt spoof to connect to PSN from the Go!

Thought this might help some folk here as well:

Great little hack that allows you to launch custom firmware from the Extras/Comic section rather than having to root through your games.

Hello, friends.

New to the scene, just took a few minutes and installed 6.60 PRO-C on my PSP Go.

(Goddamn, I can't believe it was so EASY)

Are there any guides available that explain some of the things that I can do with this particular CFW? Like customization and performance stuff, etc?

Now that I have it on here I have no idea what to do with it, haha.

I tried applying CTF themes to pimp out my Go but couldn't get it working no matter what I tried, I think the themes may only be for permanent firmwares? Aside from that, press select to bring up a menu in the XMB and make the PSP run at 333Mhz for better performance in game.

Have a poke around here for more cool stuff and tutorials.

Well play games obviously. But nah seriously, CFW is great for enhancing the PSPs functionality so here's a link with one of the most complete collections of 6.XX CFW plugins.

I've finally managed to upgrade to the latest pro 6.60 CFW but now I'm having what appears to be a common problem for people whose last CFW experience was on something fairly ancient: corrupted savedata

I've searched the thread and the last post I could find on the subject was...lengthy and frightening. It was also over a year ago so I'm wondering if somehow between then and now someone's put together a more efficient way to restore corrupted savedata?

I have a normal battery that I hard modded to a Pandora battery. How do I use it as a normal battery again without having to boot the system without the battery in, and then inserting the battery? I know there is a way using IPL Loaders but I don't know if there is something easier/newer.

Pandora's are so out of date. I recommend 6.60 Pro, it can do all of the things the older m33 forwards can do and you can still have PSN access.

How do I "hack" my downloaded PSP games so I can play them on CFW no matter which PSN account I'm using? I have both US and EU accounts to buy content, but would like to play the games without having to switch accounts. I looked at NPDecrypter but that seems to be for DLC only...

I did this a long time ago. I didn't even remember doing it. I do know that it's still a functional battery as long as I use an IPL Loader.

ProCFW automatically lets me use every accounts games. I dunno what CFW you are using/gonna use.

I feel dumb for asking this, but I forgot which post had the information to let me be able to take screenshots in-game for any game, or something similar. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Using PRO-C 660. If I'm on my us account, active cfw, and try to run a game from my eu account, it starts up but immediately quits with "error 80010087". If i switch to my eu account the game works fine. So i assumed there is some kind of utility to make my eu games work when my us account is activated.

I have a PSP 1000 running 5.50 GEN 03 that I put on awhile ago. If I´m looking to go to CFW 6.60 PRO-C10 can I upgrade through a regular official system update and then install CFW 6.60 PRO-C10 or do I need to do something special? Do I even need to be on OFW or install it or can I just load it on the CFW I´m running now?

I don´t know if updating to a regular system update will screw up my system since I´m on CFW.

I had to do this yesterday. You upgrade to official 6.60, run the Pro installer, then the CIPL flasher, and you're done.

Hey guys, I decided to FINALLY jump on the PSP bandwagon. I just ordered a PSP core pack from my store. It says its a PSP 3000. Want to rip my PS1 game obviously, and is it possible to install the games?

My question is about memory cards. HOLY fuck this shit is expensive. Of course it is some proprietary Sony bullshit as usual.

What do you guys recommend for memory cards? Do adapters like this work?

http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004MFQ1WU/

It would cut down on price dramatically but would I be able to use it and CFW?

Also, when I get it, should I upgrade the firmware? I want to use CFW, but I also want to be able to go onto the store and buy shit on there as well.

You can totally rip your games and put them on the memory stick. It's great.

Edit: I was thinking PSP games. PS1 games are also possible, but you need to convert them into "eboots", which is more complicated and I haven't gotten into that myself, but there are guides that can teach you.

Adapters like that work and are a great way to save money. Get yourself a 32GB microSDHC, preferably Class 10, from a reliable brand.

You can also get an adapter even cheaper from Deal Extreme if you don't mind waiting for slow shipping.

The first step in soft-modding your PSP is upgrading to the latest official Sony firmware. Then you soft-mod it. Every time you turn off your PSP, it de-mods and returns to an unmodded state, which means you can use the official store. Re-modding your PSP every time you turn it on is effortless and takes seconds.

I originally wanted a PSP 3000 to install CFW on, however it's harder to do isn't it than on the 2000 model?

So would a 2000 be better for a dummy, like myself, who isn't use to a PSP?

Thanks.

The current soft-mod is super easy, works on any kind of PSP, and probably does everything you want.

Older systems have older, more complicated weaknesses that are kind of obsolete since hackers found the encryption keys and blew the doors off PSP's security, but maybe if you really know what you're doing, maybe you might want to break in through those specific older weaknesses for some reason (you probably don't).

If you're a noob, then it doesn't really matter what kind of PSP you get. Aside from the PSP Go having more internal storage space, no UMD drive (so you can't rip your own UMD games without help), and a different form factor (with a regular PSP you hold from the sides, but with a PSP Go you hold from the bottom).

Thanks for the response. How do I go about installing the current soft mod on a 3000? And will it enable me to play emulators?

Thanks.

Don't suppose anybody here knows if there has been any progress on a new tv-out app lately? FuSa seemed to work okayish but isn't working on the PRO cfw as I understand it.
Was really nice to get full screen output on a tv.

Does the latest wifiless PSP have a cfw, if so wich one? How is the scene evolved? How do you inject cfws?

I never updated since 5.00m33-6.

That's the E1000, and yes, CFW works on it. See here.

Apparently when the PS3 got hacked, they found codes inside it that allow you to digitally sign PSP homebrew so that any PSP (even completely original, unmodded ones) will believe that it's an official program, fully approved by Sony (apparently Sony put the PSP's security codes into the PS3 so that the PS3 could more easily make the PSP do things).

So the homebrewers make the CFW, and then they sign it. You download it, transfer it to your memory stick, and simply run it. Your PSP is now hacked, and it'll run programs whether they're signed or not.

Some homebrewers are apparently signing their programs just for kicks, so you don't even need to have CFW to run some things. PSP security has been smashed to pieces. Although that hasn't really drastically increased the homebrew scene. Most of the work was done back when hackers had to get in the hard way.

Wow, thanks a lot man. The PSP is being delivered tomorrow and the next day, I am going on vacation, so I think I am just going to bite the bullet and buy this.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...spx?path=4117f680243377595c4ecabb209ba776en02

Its 8gb for 35 bucks. It is in my store, and I can pick it up tomorrow. Even though it says its for go, it will work with the PSP, right?

The adapter you linked looks great and I will purchase it one day, but I am too excited to play the PSP not to be able to have a memory card, haha.

Do the SDHC adapters work with the "Magic Gate" copy protection?

I've got stuff I bought from the store and I'm leery of switching because of that.

All my games fit on my 16GB memory stick, but they're all compressed heavily. I have no room left, so if I were to get another game I'd be out of luck.

Using a microSD adapter works perfectly fine. Make sure that if you're going to be putting in 2 cards that you put them both in and format them in the PSP itself as one stick, adding one later causes issues unless you do a total format again.

Hey guys, how do you watch UMD movie rips on the PSP? I ripped all my UMD movies to iso's. I put them in both the Video folder and the Video Folder with the ISO folder, and they don't show up.

Am I missing something?

Is there a program that can let me take screenshots while I'm playing? I tried Stump's suggestion, but I can't get it to work at all no matter what I try.

EDIT: Never mind, got it to work. Stump's directions still didn't work, but I found other directions for that plugin.

I think you have to make a "VIDEO" folder inside the "ISO" folder and place them there, try that out.

I'm trying to update my friends PSP-1004 to Official firmware 6.60, but when I try to update I get "The system configuration of this PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be started. Contact technical support for assistance (DRNFFFFFFCD)"

The current firmware in the PSP is OFW 6.20, is there anyway to fix this error?

So, I figured out how to get my UMD rips to play. You do create a VIDEO folder withing the ISO folder, and stick the movie ISO in there.

You bring up the VSH menu, and go to the iso video mount option and cycle to the movie you want to play. You select it and the PSP will restart and play the movie.

Anyways.

I got a PSP Go for cheap, and updated it to 6.60. It seems like all the emulators do not work anymore?

Is this a known thing? Are there new ones that work on 6.60?
