PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Add another bug to the pile; clockspeed doesn't change. No matter what you specify in the VSH menu or in the recovery, games run at 222.

I've heard other people mention this bug also on MaxConsole.

Meh never bothered to change clockspeed, i figured if you compress your isos youre running the same speed as retail as its loading from the ms (faster)

Reluctantly upgraded my 3.40 OE up to 3.80 M33-4. Everything seems fine on my fat PSP. I don't do homebrew, just have a couple of games saved to ISO and they load quick as usual on my Sandisk Ultra II 4GB using the Sony driver.

I choose the popsloader 3.7x when I tried to load a PSOne game but after that, it doesn't ask for it anymore. How can I get that option again?

i dont know if anyone here can help me but on my psp that has custom firmware, im trying to update from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.80 M33 but the updater keeps saying that I need 3.52 M33-3 or higher to run the update.

i check the system setting and it says my firm is definitely 3.52 M33-4.

why is it not recognizing that the firmware is 3.52 M33-4?

is there a way to downgrade to 3.52 M33 and try to reinstall the update?

This same problem confounded me. Boot your PSP into recovery mode by holding down the right shoulder button when turning on the PSP. Switch your homebrew to 3.52 (from 1.5 I think). Then you should be able to update. I would have only known this by reading this thread. This PSP CFW is soooooo confusing. Hope that works for you.

There doesn't seem much reason to upgrade this time around. Currently at CFW 3.71, what will I be missing if I don't upgrade? (Not interested in net radio, and I mainly use it for homebrew and emulators).

When booting the game, hold the R button. Your POPSloader menu will appear then!

Funny, I have 3.71 M33-4 AND I happen to have remote play!

Course I wouldn't recommend doing the flash hack unless you have a Pandora handy, just in case...

Trying to install 3.80 M33 and I'm getting an error message.

"The system configuration of the PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be completed..."

Anyways I originally had 3.30 OE-A and about an hour ago put 3.71 M33-4 on there using the whole Pandora link at the beginning of this thread. Anyways my ISO's aren't loading either although when I flashed to 3.71 everything seemed peachy. How can I get out of this problem and into 3.80+ ?

Yes indeed.
BTW, Popsloader 3.80 v2 is avaiable now.

Thanks for the Popsloader news, here are the release notes:

Did you put it in GAME371 and/or switched the homebrew kernel mode to 3.71 in the recovery menu? If not, try that. If you already tried that, you should probably look for ChillyWilly's Key Cleaner to check whether any of the keys in your flash are corrupted (this is one of the more common problems with custom firmware).

what the hell

with the last version (m33-4) my D-pad turns left on its own in almost all my games :lol

can I downgrade to m33-2 ?

Wait, what? It's up to 3.80 M33-4 already?

EDIT: man I love this auto-update feature.

Indeed captain, and I wish I had WiFi in my uni hall, doing all this updating rhubarb by hand can be right annoying at times.

Could anyone tell me a way to get a custom firmware for a psp that has 3.03 official firmware. I don't have GTA so is theer another way?

I tried FF7, choose New Game and then once the first fight starts it freezes. I have all the updates, even v2 of the popsloader. Any ideas?

This is my first time trying a PS1 game so I may have done something wrong. But the opening movie plays and then I just run by the train, but getting into the first fight it freezes.

I think Pandora and the Lumines exploit are the only other ways, I think you would be better off getting a cheap LCS from eBay, from someone who doesn't know much about custom firmware, just ask them what the code under "Stories" says, my PAL copy that worked is ULES-00151.

I was having the same problem, but with the popsloader you can run earlier versions of pops, which FF7 is more compatible with. I'm not sure how much I can discuss this here, but I'm sure if you know how to use google you can get more help on how to obtain the earlier pops files (unless Meijilan or someone can say otherwise). These go inside the popsloader folder, which itself is inside the seplugins folder. Once you've done all that, you can choose what firmware to run with the game by holding down the R Trigger while booting the eboot.

I have a feeling Remote Play DID get updated from 3.72 to 3.80, beyond the simple enabling of Wake-on-LAN.

Before I couldn't connect to my PS3 through the Wifi extenders in the house. Internet method didn't work and Local network didn't work either. Now it's flawless.

I don't have Lumines, so i guess Pandora battery is the only way. Is there anyway to do it with 1 (fat) psp?

It would easier for you to either find a 2nd hand copy of GTA:LCS or Luminies in video game store than try and make Pandora on unmodded PSP

Could you tell me anyway. I don't have any money right now :(

Damn. Still sitting here @ 3.52 M33 4. Downloaded the files and everything for 3.8, but I think I'll wait for this to stabilize a little more.

I heard that you could use the pandora battery trick for unmodded psp if you have 2 batteries. Is that true, if so how do you do that?

Pops 3.72 works great, thanks :D

You still need an already modded PSP to make the Pandora (Service Battery).
The other option is ripping apart your battery and then lifting the leg of pin1 on the battery eeprom. But then your broke and will probably need new battery after this.

you can't make a pandora without a modded psp.

your options.

lumines exploit
liberty city exploit
buy a pandora battery premade.

the best option would be to grab one of the games and run the exploit. that way when you're done you have a new game and not an extra battery.
