Quantum Break |OT| We'll Be Right Back After This Commercial Break

Done with Act 3, the environment at times had a nice little Alan Wake vibe to them which was nice. Story is really picking up and I'm loving the junctions and how they effect the show. Can't wait to start Act 4 which everyone here has been raving about.

Ha now I'm more worried.
That GameStop DM said the game had almost no traction at all and MS was barely promoting it even in store.
Just a huge bummer.

They really need some challenge room DLC for this. All I want is to just have wave after wave of enemies.

I just hope sales are good, they do deserve it and are still one of the best studios around. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer to find out, been getting a lot of my friends to get the game based on what I've played so far and they all are really enjoying it.

It's definately not perfect.

What are you basing the bolded on?

There's no reason they couldn't figure the cost of the abilities, such that after using a time sheild you could still have enough to chain your remaining abilities.

Say the meter had 11 slots. Time sheild could cost 6. Time stop, and time dodge could cost 1. The cost of time rush would depend on how long you hold it. You'd still have enough to pool off a chain of your remaining abilities...

And for added fun, stacking shots on a chronon container could completely refill your meter.

It would lead to more chaining of abilities, because people would have a better grasp of what is still at their disposal, without having to keep an eye on 5 different cool down meters

Something called peripheral vision. Use it.

Just started Chapter 5 on my second playthrough. I've been making alternative choices this time round and HOLY SHIT

Paul just beat the Doctor to death with a fucking statue.

Seriously wasn't expecting that sort of change to events.

UK here but it doesn't seem like MS is promoting it in store at GAME here either. Whenever I've gone in/past GAME it's been heavily promoting Division/Uncharted/Dark Souls 3 but QB has had one poster up about a week before launch and it's already been pulled down.

I think
hope
it'll do good still, it was heavily advertised on the dashboard and it's releasing in a quiet month & has a bundle with a price drop. I feel like MS was hoping for a huge hit critically and hoping that would help carry the game through WOM and didn't quite hit that mark.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
They could work around that issue. an example I gave in my edit was that stacking shots on chronon containers would refill the meter. Or Jack could get energy from dispatching enemies who are wearing stutter proof gear.

Anything to avoid the confusion of having multiple meters, that are all tiny, and draw attention away from the action.

get gud ;)

no, but seriously, the system as is works great. you should get to a point where you are shuffling your powers in such a way that you dont need to know what the meter says, you already have an idea of what you've used and are still able to use.

Finally got around to playing the game and finished up Act 1. Felt fun, and I actually enjoyed the slow buildup to the action.

I just beat it in Hard and it was AWESOME! For whatever reason I have remembered playing every Remedy game on launch since Alan Wake. Quantum Break was equally as memorable.

And dare I say that QB's action mechanics are, at worst, Remedy's finest. I used to think Max Payne 2 was king, but no more.

I'm looking forward to play through it again and make the opposite choices. Though I do have a question about the story.
What is going on with William being interviewed? It's like we never found out who she is or what the interview came from/where are they?

Okay, never mind to the spoiler.
I saw the cutscene after the credits.

Man no one is playing this in my friends list but me. I hope this doesn't hurt Remedy. I imagine the PC release was added relatively late into development based on how the game was tracking. Now with how bad that sku is doing I really hope they can recoup some costs

Alot of people in my friendslist are playing it. For example when Tomb Raider was out, there was only one. And the sales showed that. And when Division released my whole friendslist were playing it and that game broke every record. Not saying its like Division sales. But most of the time my friendslist is a quite good indication if a game sold good for me.

Fucking hell! Don't do New Game after beating the game. It overrides your save without notification. How ridiculous! And now there's no way I'm getting my old save back.

Thankfully, I had heard about this before I finished the game. If you go into timeline, and then go to the beginning you keep all your stuff and can change difficulties.

If you are playing on xbox, and if it hasnt been too long, you might be able to delete local save and then download your old save from the cloud

Ok. So I finished act 3 and I'm still not sure why Paul established Monarch. I'm missing the big picture story wise for some reason. :-/ or is this explained later?

Yeah, that didn't work. I was too late.

Oh, well, I wanted to play through the game again, but getting all the collectibles a second time will be tedious.

Ya I just went through and saw 61 of my friends have put at least an hour into the game.

Opening the powers menu there are the character tabs on the right. I thought they would only play already known cutscenes/videos/audiologs, but I played one from Jack and I never heard that one. Everyone should definetly listen to some of them after finishing the game. That's what I'm going to do next.

You guys have better friends than me. Everyone is still playing the Division

I don't help out at GameStop even part time anymore, but when I last worked in Feb for a shift QB only had 9 reserves at the store I was at. Not HORRIBLE in this day in age for GameStop on exclusives (Uncharted 4 had around 20) as pre-ordering is not what it use to be, but it was not impressive that's for sure.
My GameStop that I work at only had 5, and one was mine. Pretty bad, but could have just been my store. I haven't checked to see where other stores were at.

Lol, we have these tiny power icons, with tiny little lines around them that represent cool down time, then you have an anmo counter on the other side of the screen, 10 enemies and tons of visual effects happening before you.

It's damn near sensory overload.

Relying on Peripheral vision is next to impossible with this set up.

I think this question is answered right at the beginning of the game.

When Paul first fired up the time machine, in order to travel two minute into the future, he came face to face with the Paul from two minutes into the future.

After a brief conversation, 'current Paul' goes into the never to be seen again. Presumably he pops out to meet past Paul and Jack from 2 minute prior.

Jack asks future Paul something along the lines of "what would happen if 'present Paul' hadn't gone into the time machines. Future Paul's response is along the lines of " there is no 'what if', if he didn't go in, I wouldn't be here now.

The same logic applies, whether we're talking about 2min or seventeen years. If Current Paul goes back in time, but doesn't establish Monarch, then how would the tech exist to get him into the past in the first place?

Breaking the loop, would threaten his existence. It's also mentioned later in the game, that the ramifications of doing something like that are completely unknown, but potentially devastating.

After a while you get a feel for how to use your powers and the cool downs, I don't remember looking at the meters more than a couple of times throughout the game and that was just to check how long I had until the shield was ready.

I hunted down every chronon piece and upgraded my abilities so I had shorter cooldowns and extra dodges, that helped a lot.

So, uh... final day... has anybody who preordered digitally receive their PC codes yet?

No :( Not sure I'd try the PC version given the complaints at the moment so perhaps it's for the best.

More interested in when my Alan Wake codes arrive, never played it and I was really looking forward to that.

Paul speaks of seeing the End of Time. At least, that's he calls it from his perspective. It could that him becoming a shiftling was what he thought the end of time was?

I think you're slightly missing the larger point.
The thing about the "loop" isn't so much about what could happen if you break it but rather is it even possible. According to Paul and things you see within the game it isn't possible. You cannot change the past no matter how much you would like to. This is why Paul is so driven in his actions because he saw the End of Time and thus according to logic that must mean it is impossible to stop, it will happen.

Holy shit at the difference your choices make on a second play through.

Really amazing stuff, Remedy.

Especially the first choice of Hardline and PR makes the most difference during the whole game imo.
The whole bridge section is quite different for example, with people getting arrested instead of helping the police find you, different radio's, no truck crash if you choose PR. Really cool

Finished it and holy hell what a fun ride. About to launch into a second round, and pay closer attention to the collectibles. Mid act 4 just wanted to rush to the end..

Nice job Remedy!! Up there with games I'll play over and over for no real reason other than they are fun..

That's why I'm thankful for cross-buy. If it's that bad, I can play on my Xbone.

True to a point, but by allowing the player to choose different paths, technically you are changing the future/past. :)

I'm not missing this point. I think the characters in the game are misinterpreting it.

I touched on this earlier.
Several characters mention that they've tried to change the past, but always end up causing the things they tried to avoid. What they fail to realize, is that it was future versions of themselves that caused these events in the first place. When they go try to change the past, they end up doing exactly what their future self had already done.

In act 5, Will considers the possibility of actually altering the course of history when Jack suggests it, (Jack suggests it several times throughout the game) but he concludes that it's even more dangerous than the current path.

Wow the
ending boss
feels so cheaply designed... I hate artificial difficulty. It makes me want not to finish it, and I was really liking the game. Is it worth it?

It's really not that bad once you figure out that all you need to do is dash away from the red.
