Hell I just came off from finishing Mass Effect 2 and I ain't impressed when compared to it either. Feel like I played a better looking game that did open areas even better than this last year, Read Dead Redemption.
This doesn't even challenge for best graphics on the P.C, Witcher 2 felt like watching CGI compared to this game.
But the core gameplay, damn does it feel good. If they got some more creative folks that could add a compelling narrative and compelling characters it would be amazing, they would really make something very very special.
As it is it's just fun. Wish is better than many.
Yeah, it's like 30fps shooters sacrificing responsive, tight gameplay for visuals. Whatareyagonnado?AEREC said:I dont get all the praise either...RAGE is a solid looking game but it sacrifices so much in order to obtain 60 fps.
if it wasn't using shadow maps, you wouldn't see the environment lighting effect the vehicles and models. i could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure it does.Zefah said:Are you sure this is the case? Maybe for some shadows it is, but I distinctly remember seeing macroblocking corruption (which is obviously a result of image compression) even on the shadow portions of the environment.

lol people aren't going to go out and buy a new expensive hard drive and have to transfer all their shit over just because of RAGEsajj316 said:S-S-D

See, now that's what I'm talking about. 60fps or death!Victrix said:Never make blanket assumptions about gamers. I'll take smooth 60fps gameplay over added visual flare almost every single time. The only times I don't care if its 30 is slow paced rpgs and the like.
If it's multiplayer, forget it, its not even a question. 60fps+ or death.
It's not a subjective thing, 60fps+ games are objectively smoother, with faster response times to inputs.

Ehh, yes and no. I do think Resistance 3 and Killzone 2/3 are all more detailed than Rage and feature much higher quality lighting and shader work, but the 60 fps and texture variety of Rage really sell it. It's very impressive looking.game looks much better then Resistance 3 or any other fps game on sony machine and it runs so smooth !!!
It depends on what you're looking for.I really don't understand how anybody can be impressed by the graphics here.
I personally can deal with lower fps (usually no lower than 25 but 30 is my soft minimum) if the game looks better as a tradeoff. The only time fps really matters is in MP and I hardly ever play MP.Victrix said:Never make blanket assumptions about gamers. For single player, I still prefer 60fps, for the mentioned benefits to responsiveness and movement but also for IQ. 30fps always looks blurry/smudged to me somehow. Of course this means I'm screwed because I don't have a powerful PC and am strictly console gaming save for emu stuff.Gvaz said:I personally can deal with lower fps (usually no lower than 25 but 30 is my soft minimum) if the game looks better as a tradeoff. sk3tch said:Yeah, looks like they either messed up or they are just giving it away to those who activate their game on Steam in a certain time period. I have the Crimson Elite armor now, too.

So...if you have the PC version, sell your Anarchy Edition/Sewers codes online and save yourself some money off of your purchase.

Glassboy said:Man the checkpoints in this game are fucking awful sometimes. I just lost about 45 minutes worth of playing because I forgot to save. What really bothers me is there was at least three different times when the game felt like it should have auto saved. I was really into the game, now I don't feel like trudging through the same crap again. Fuck

ROFL. I made that mistake like 3 times already. Not anymore though... (i hope)LocoMrPollock said:Look on the brightside - you won't ever make that mistake again.

edit: For people who have gone into the sewers, is it worth it? I'm renting the game so wondering if it is worthwhile to get or not.
Only the first couple are required, after that you don't need to do the races.msv said:Is it possible to skip the races? I just want to shoot with my guns, not drive around in laps in that stupid buggy.

I have to do the race for the cuprino buggy right? I like driving from one place to the other, but the races are really grating on my nerves now. Feel like I'm working just to get to the parts where I can 'play' again.DaBuddaDa said:Only the first couple are required, after that you don't need to do the races.
The problem was is that I was in the dead city and really into it that I completely forgot to manually save at any point during those 45 minutes. What really sucks is that I'm playing on PC and it is easy as hell to auto save, so it makes it that much more frustrating that I didn't. Oh well, I probably just go through it again while listening to last week's weekend confirmed.Wallach said:If there's no loading screen, it doesn't save. Exactly. This game has style, it looks like a game and controls and plays like a game. No weird jumpy shadows or other weird stuff - just clean and detailed graphics.dark10x said:Ehh, yes and no. Rage has a very DIFFERENT look from those games. It doesn't focus on throwing tons of shaders and lights around, rather, creating very complex scenes without tiling. As you look around you'll see that almost every surface is uniquely painted. This combined with the excellent art direction, color grading, and high framerate really pack a punch.
I think it's very impressive to behold and I appreciate the sacrifices they made for performance.
