I disagree. It looks awful on PS3.SalsaShark said:on a high-end PC maybe, on lower end systems and consoles it was a great idea.

The game is very forgettable.
The story is basically nonexistent, characters aren't memorable.
Game looks great, runs at 60 fps, gunplay is solid but not outstanding.
It's Borderlands without the co-op and personality.

Also I cleaned out the sewers....only to go back to wellspring for it to tell me to go back to all the sewers and clean them out again

Man whatStuBurns said:It's subjective, but I think it looks really bad. I think MW2 looks significantly better for example. And they knock that shit out in two year stretches. Rage had a lot longer. Everyone talks about the 60fps, and it's indeed very nice, but I don't believe for a second they couldn't get comparable performance from a traditional engine given the time they've spent on the game, and that way it wouldn't be fugly too.
It looks worse than Doom 3 did to me.

OK Doom 3 looked great when it came out and with mods still holds up well today but really?
Really?

I found a random guy living in a house with a Doom 3 shirt on, and the polycount sawtooth face is on the Subway bartender, and there's the Quake, Doom, and Wolfenstein rooms. Remember that this is a linear shooter, just because they used a hub system doesn't mean it's an Elder Scrolls style RPG where there is a huge overworld to go exploring in.DeadRockstar said:That's a point: Is there anything to find at all when exploring? The game's design so far is leading me to believe there won't be. It's basically mission after mission with driving intermissions.
Also I'm pretty sure there is no map.
I gave up on it. I hated it in Red Dead and in this it's even worse.Prodigal said:Has anyone gotten the achievement for beating the knife minigame? I wanted to get all the achievements for this game but this one seems like a real bitch...

Clearly he disagrees because Doom 4 is 30fps.Solo said:If its the trade-off for a buttery smooth 60 FPS at all times, then Carmack absolutely made the right decision.
But it wasn't. The whole point was to allow having the artists make the entire map's texture work unique. You don't have tessellated textures anywhere. Its just one giant texture that covers the whole map and its loaded accordingly.Solo said:If its the trade-off for a buttery smooth 60 FPS at all times, then Carmack absolutely made the right decision.

The resolution of the textures is fairly meaningless when they're compressed to this obnixious degree. The point of running at 30fps is for a richer simulation, not higher res textures. It can have considerably higher enemy counts for one.Solo said:And it will have much higher resolution textures to offset that.
JRW said:I wasnt getting an N64 vibe playing through Dead City, at least with Large Texture cache enabled. (It does look pretty bad on Small)
