Reacher - Official Trailer | Prime Video

5eps in and we're enjoying it for its simplistic no balls approach, Reachers complete and utter contempt for anyone remotely acting a cunt is pure class and with his massive bulk to back it up its brought a few laughs as you watch the blood drain from people confronting him... Still waiting on him uttering "Come with me if you want to live"
Which makes me laugh when scrawny dudes end up giving him a run for his money, lol.

Show is decent. Reminds me of justified. The highs aren’t very high but it’s steady and easy watching. Good formula.

I'm curious where the reacher fan base intersects Reddit. I would guess reacher fans are more gun guy police fans, not basement dwelling interweb warriors.

Watched the first two episodes last night. Not like an award winning prestige show, but certainly a very fun entertaining show that I will keep watching.

So, season one, had some dumb stuff, a lot of which was baked in from the original old book, but it was overall good fun and I am really looking forward to more.

Started it yesterday. Three episodes in and I'm really enjoying it. One of the better series to have been released on Amazon recently.

Watched the first episode, fairly average throw away stuff.

At least the main guy is a better fit for Reacher than Tom Cruise.

Always had a younger Ron Pearlman or Nick Nolte in my head when i read a couple of the books.

I thought the show was fun to watch. I can't say it was amazing but it was enjoyable. I am kinda mixed on it though since it felt kind of like a throwaway show but it was my kind of tv show. I kind of wish there was more goofy characters since I couldn't take this show as being something serious. It needed a goofy sidekick.

I'm impressed they actually casted someone who fits the book description. That's certainly not the norm anymore. I watched the first episode. Its entertainment. Not bad. Not great.

I admit to sh*tting on the trailer, but I ended up liking the show. I know it was renewed for a second season, I wonder which book they will adapt next? Many of the Reacher books are structured like action movies, but I wonder which ones work in the 8 episode format? I'm also interested in seeing how the TV show fans will feel about the lack of reoccurring characters from series to series.

I had been concerned about how "quip-y" Reacher is in the trailer, but it wasn't too bad when the quips were spaced out during the 8 episodes. There were also very few moments when Reacher does something out of character versus his book counterpart. The worst example of this was test discharging that firearm outside of Roscoe's house after they had just discovered the threat on their lives.

My other main concern was filler content and how this would effect the pacing over the 8 episodes. Fortunately, I think the added content was mostly for the better (fleshing out characters like Finlay and Roscoe, plus adding Neagley to this story when she is not present in the book). I felt it only dragged a bit in the episode with Kristin Kreuk and the kids running around the woods, but even that wasn't too bad.

They also kept this story very true to the book. The main difference was the younger Kleiner being the "big bad" instead of his dad. In the book, the son dies earlier and the father survives until the final showdown. Speaking of which, there wasn't a massive shootout at the end with all the characters participating, but given the TV format, I'm not surprised they wanted to go with a big finale.

Some of the weaker aspects of the story are actually carry-overs from the book, like all the coincidences with his brother and the FBI agent. Also to the show's advantage is the lack of too many Amazon Original PC moments, which were mostly limited to Roscoe's grrl power moments.

I like how they constantly show him eating like shit yet he looks like that.

The bit of skin midway through was a pleasant surprise.

This show isn't quite Banshee level fun but it is close.

You can eat like shit and still be like that, at least while you're relatively young. Hell, to maintain that, you need to eat a fuck load and often. If you're not careful, junk food can be the only stuff that has the calorific content you need and is certainly the easiest to go and therefore even more tempting.

The reacher actor is jacked to the tits with a sub 10% bodyfat. NFW a person that doesnt work out daily and seems to live off vending machine snack food and BBQ carries that mass at that definition. The show makes a POINT to highlight his shitty diet.

Id get it - a little- if he just ate like a horse but they showed him doing body weight exercises every night, but really, a physique like that takes absolute dedication.

Of course you can't live off MacDonald's and note how I said 'if you're not careful'.

Also, just go read that reddit thread. He himself says that usually he doesn't eat that healthily unless he has a project coming up. And just for a project there's not way he goes from flat slob to muscle man each time.

I never said anything about him not exercising.

Learn to fucking read.

Reading is not the issue, but the interpretation of the words presented. Ones mind can not calculate the formula of which that makes sense. The integrity of social articulation is at hand!

Dude, im talking about Reacher the CHARACTER. As presented in the show Reacher eats like shit and walks arpund a little bit. Occassionally he fights or fucks. That aint keeping all that mass at that bodyfat.

Alan the ACTOR might be able be a little lax in the gym just to maintain his bulk with the right supplements between shoots but I guarantee he isn't raiding the buffet and lazing about while filming.

Just watched the pilot, and I’m about to binge the rest. I’d read the book years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, so was a bit wary about how Amazon would handle this, given their track record. But I’m impressed. The characters are relatable, the pacing is decent, the cinematography is good. I’m in for the ride.

Watched and finished it. GF and I really enjoyed it , both excited for season 2. Loved the trunk scene, that's one way to fit a few people in there.

For the record, I don't care how Alan got the way he is, I just think it is a bit disingenuous for the script to harp on the characters diet so much. Fun to watch him pummel folks though.

It's also a great counterpoint for whenever some cow online starts bitching about unrealistic female body standards. That dude is as unrealistic a male as any Hollywood Twig girl. I just want the script to reflect the work/dietary discipline those folks go through.

Interestingly, the witcher books did this a lot. Every female sorceress pushed the plate away at some point to preserve her figure.

On episode 4, I'm actually surprised at how much I liked this. Reacher comes across as a no nonsense badass. This is something that's definitely lacking in today's media.

Wait what? This thing is similar to one of my favourite shows ever?

Thad will grow into the role, solid source material and some entertaining fun for S1. S2 should deliver and grow more. Hope it is given a S3 or S4 to spread its wings and Thad to mature. He suits the role, just some highs and lows to smooth out.

I think the guy just has a natural skill for comedy, his character in bms was absolutely hilarious and acted perfectly, he WAS thad.

Every serious role when i saw him, he kinda sucks...

It is good to hear that he kinda nails this role.

Finished the series, and as a fan of the books, I was impressed. It followed book 1 (Killing Floor) pretty closely. They added more characters and scenes that are not in the book, but the changes made sense and the story benefited from the extra material.

Looking forward to season 2 and also happy to see this series was a huge success. It even out performed WoT!

I watched the whole season, but tbh the only plot element that kept me interested was whether he could eat the pie, that was quite frustrating.
All the "butch guy doing butch stuff" was entertaining in an old-fashioned way, it does convey that feeling of pulp novel/comics where the hero is a big Mary-Sue (strong, clever, resourceful, good looking,... you name it).

It will be interesting to see which book they do next. Logic would dictate it be Die Trying, but Lee Child wrote the books so they could be read in any order whatsoever. Reading them in order of publication would involve a lot of time-hopping, so who knows what S2 will entail.

Not bad. Fight scenes are brutal when there's action to be had. Main character's a bit mechanical, robotic at times. Not sure what to make of that if the creators are going for a 6 Million Dollar Man series/21 Jumpstreet atmosphere (which would be kinda cool tbh). Giving it time though. Hopefully the action kicks up a dial or two

Have you read the books? That’s what the character is like, so I’d Ritchson did a great job at portraying Reacher.

I hope they don't adapt "Die Trying", I found that one to be one of the weaker books. If we're going with early novels, maybe "Tripwire" or "Running Blind", I think those could work in an 8 episode series format.
