Google Chrome is pissing me off so much right now. All I wanted to do was have like twenty YouTube windows open and three separate Hulu tabs plus a variable amount of NeoGAF tabs and also several Google image searches open at the same time. For months and months it never complained. 16GB RAM motherfuckers. Then suddenly this evening it acts like I'm asking too much of it. Without warning, it locks up my screen, then quickly spreads its disease to every other open app. I'm forced to reboot my PC like a plebeian. Only now Chrome has decided to update to some ungodly version where NPAPI has been forcibly castrated and now Hulu's video player won't load. Reboot Chrome. Remove the shitty PPAPI version of Flash. Reboot Windows. Reinstall Chrome. Run as administrator. Nothing is changing. Hulu still won't load.

I just want to continue watching Jimmy Fallon throw softball questions at Donald Trump. Why does Chrome hate me.

Oh God, that does not sound fun.

I've been running Opera ever since I got fed up with Chrome's bullshit.

I'll bite. What do you consider the golden age of gaming to be?

Why aren't you playing Yakuza 5?

Sorry snes era to ps2 era.

Chrome is soooo bad now. I use Opera at home, but discovered Firefox at work and never looked back. Might switch to Firefox at home too.

And yeah, my Chrome Flash player completely broke at work. Tried fixing, couldn't fix, abandoned it.

lol

I love how (it seems like) you know how ridiculous this is and yet you give no fucks.

I'm sorry lil, but I had to laugh :D

I think making fun of yourself is a great way to deal with frustration.

Yeah. They have me hook line and sinker. Being logged in and synced to the Google account with all my bookmarks and activity shared between my PC, Macbook and iPhone is too convenient. Plus I'm more in tune with the extension market on Chrome. I don't necessarily think Chrome is the best browser, but I have the most to lose in leaving it.

Ah so I am not the only one with 30+ tabs open >>

Good morning gaf. It is 7:43 AM and way to early.

Same for me, I don't really want to setup the same things on a different browser.

Damn, I get what you mean.

I bit the bullet on moving only after I moved everything away from Google which probably what made the break easier.

Damn that suuucks

Run a RAM test, it actually sounds like if Chrome is making the rest of the OS unstable, you're running real close to a bluescreen situation

Also, everyone is dropping NPAPI. rip shitty plugin interface

Because I'm playing through the first Mass Effect!

Just started a fresh ME3 run over the weekend since I picked up Leviathan & Omega DLC on sale months ago (X360) - already had Citadel & Javik. I've only previously played with imports from ME1/2, so I'm curious to see what's different. So far,
no Jack, and one of the students got shot in the back - don't remember the latter happening
. Guessing I won't be seeing Kasumi or Zaeed as well.

Haven't gotten too far otherwise, only just got Javik on the previous mission.

I can't wait to play through 2 and 3. I'm really loving the first game, despite the repetition in the side missions. Bought the trilogy bundle on sale for $5 on PSN. No way was I gonna pass up three games for that cheap.

Anyway, is the character creator better in 2 and 3? It's straight garbage in 1. I so badly want to change the way my femshep looks. Well, mainly just the hair.

The first ME is a little clunky, but still a fucking fantastic game.

Yakuza 4 is batshit insane, if it's your first you're in for a ride.
Yeah, I'm really liking Mass Effect, despite its flaws.

I've heard so much about Yakuza, and I've always wanted to play the games. Everything I've seen of the games look amazing.

lol, thanks everyone.

What kind of a RAM test? Like I said, I'd been running an instance of Chrome for literally months without rebooting, restarting, nor even putting the OS to sleep. That includes leaving it up while running PhotoShop, Steam and lots of games too.

For what it's worth, I finally got things working again five minutes ago. How long it lasts is anyone's guess, but what I did was go into AppData and remove the Pepper Flash player. I don't actually know anything about NPAPI v PPAPI. I just know that they both used to be an option, and now that NPAPI was dropped neither Hulu nor Twitch work straight out of the box.

memtest86 is an option. There's also apparently an option built in to windows to test RAM (dunno your version, so i'll let you search yourself)

Also leaving Windows (assuming Windows here) going that long without a hard restart almost assures you've got a memory leak building somewhere and other issues that results in it going for that length of time. I don't let Windows go more than a week without a hard restart if I can help it.

NPAPI is the mid-90s Netscape plugin method that everyone else implemented. It's terrible and makes Windows 95-era assumptions about what a plugin can do.

The new plugin style is made for the modern era of sandboxing, permissions, etc etc

Flash is the only remainin NPAPI plugin of note and Adobe has zero plans to redo it as a modern one. Chrome has even silently blacklisted non-Flash NPAPI plugins for quite a while now, I believe. They just finally dropped the hammer on NPAPI this September.

The combat feels a lot better/smoother with 2 & 3. Side missions get better too (I might prefer the ones in ME2 than ME3 actually). In ME3, there were complaints about how you'd have to randomly wander near NPCs in order to pick up on certain conversations (non-interactive) that allow access to certain side missions.

ME2 can get tedious with the resource gathering, but I wouldn't get too obsessed with it. There should be enough resources to go around as you explore the planets along the way as opposed to searching every nook and cranny in the galaxy.

Not particularly. They're mostly the same. You'll have a chance to redo the face at the start of ME2 (can't remember for ME3 if you import, but I believe so). Hair choice still kinda blows.

That makes sense. I'm not surprised Flash is sticking to its guns after all this time, but it makes it frustrating that the websites with the fourth and fifth highest traffic on the internet (Twitch and Hulu respectively) won't upgrade to HTML5 and also that Chrome would release a new version where its users are left out in the cold. Bah.

Twitch will be making the switch 100%, sooner rather than later I hope.

Fuck knows about hulu, we dont have that here.

I think they're basically going "alright, we're gonna pull the trigger" and some sites are like "nuh uh we have time" and the browser makers are going

"no, really, we're pulling the trigger"

to hard-push those sites over.

Firefox is dropping it too. Edge won't ever have it. I seem to remember Twitch almost has their HTML5 player ready to go, so Hulu better get their shit in order

Yeah, that makes sense. Although I wonder where most of the blame will fall with people when their favorite websites stop working and they're not technically inclined enough to hotfix it.

Just got done playing some Elder Sign on Tabletop Simulator. Game is super cool! However only one of us was doing anything useful/having good rolls throughout the game.

I managed to kill myself going for a relatively easy adventure knowing we would win by the time it got to our last character.
I tried to take the glory of getting the last elder sign and paid the ultimate price
hahaha
Late but thanks for the Rocket League game! I need to practice more lol.
I was so proud of you on a few of those goals ;~;

these are the kind of onions that give me nightmares.

It's not like im anti vegi or whatever, just onions man. Nty and the problem is, theyre in everything. fucking everything

I learned something a long time ago about foods I don't like. People don't put that food in the meal to spite me. They put it in there because they enjoy it and because their experience has suggested to them that most other people enjoy it as well.

Some fried up onions with some garlic is great to throw on a nice juicy steak. Add some mushrooms for extra goodness.

Everything about that is fantastic, minus onions

Naw, I know. But, honestly. I just wish i could tolerate onions or cut them out for good. :p

The worst, the absolute worst, is spring onion.

I've been a faux goth at times. I appreciate the aesthetic of goth but could never fully commit to it, and I don't have a lot to be depressed or angsty about.

For some reason I have Danny Brown stuck in my head. hahahaha

I used to be the pickiest eater as a child. I was getting slowly better about it until sometime in college, where I tried out a new cafe for lunch and decided enough was enough. I looked at food as strictly fuel for my body to function. That if I eat more, that is eat the stuff I always asked to have removed, my body would function better.

Thankfully the sandwich I had that day was incredible and it changed how I approach food forever. So much amazing food out there, and I'm open to trying (most) anything now. A month or two after I noticed I felt much better too, less lethargic etc. So happy I changed.

Basically my point is I hated onions for the longest time, but came around on them and accepted that most of the dishes I find delicious use onions to enhance the flavor.

Get some diced potatoes with it and maybe some carrots too mmf.
