- Last time RO2 crashed was during the first day or two of the game.
I had crashing problems well after that, but sure.

If it's still crashing for you then you should hit the TWI forums or email them.
- Never had a single performance issue, luckily. Tripwire have asked for people to send in reports of their machines, which I did so for my younger brother who is still having problems yet seemingly continues to play it.
Bully for you, but your experience doesn't negate mine. I had a bad experience overall, and you telling me yours was fine doesn't really fix that. That's not a solution.

- If I can play well as Anti-Tank on a US server 6,000 miles away without problems, then something seems to be right with the latency. That is hardly the case for TF2 where I would love to join the GAF server but it borders upon unplayable.
I had disconnection problems from servers in Seattle, a few miles away from me, and in LA, still on the west coast. I read many similar accounts. Again,
my experience was negative.

- What dwindling playerbase? Still seems to be hundreds of players on every peak night; all of my local servers are packed from 7pm till late. It's never going to do the numbers of Counter-Strike but it's doing much better than Brink or Monday Night Combat.
The last time I tried to play was on a Friday night, and there were only 500 or so players globally. Is this not the usual case? It seemed pretty dire.

- Map re-designs have been constantly talked about in the forums and we've already seen maps being fixed.
- I'll give you graphical glitches but I've never known a Tripwire game to look beautiful. The original RO always looked horrid (even compared to BF1942) but that never detracted from the game unless you want to be slotted alongside the "I'll never play a handheld because there is no immersion!" crowd.
I don't want to be "slotted" alongside anyone, thank you very much. I can put up with iffy graphics but glitches and performance are a whole different ballgame.

And I stated first world problem because people have been bitching left and right about the game being bugged to hell and back, and yet they complain more when patches are released. This behemoth of a patch seems to fix the #1 complaint that seemingly every vocal minority shithead seemed to have and there you go on the soapbox weeping. That is a first world problem.
"Vocal minority shithead"? Thanks duder. All I was saying was, "man, 3GBs is a lot of data and I'm not sure I have the heart to devote bandwidth (I have a cap) to this because the game sort of started to not be fun". I'm not complaining "more," it's just that in my case, the damage has been done. I got burned, and I'm not sure it's worth me downloading this when
several patches in the past made my game experience worse, mostly in the performance department.

Being critical to the point where I won't download a 3gb patch will only cause me to be bitter about a product I paid for. But hey if playing the game is closely resembled to wiping your own arse with barbed wire, then what benefit of the doubt do I have against your opinion. I'm simply saying it how I see it.
You say you're not defending the game, but you're certainly using some passionate language, partner. The game has a lot of awesome ideas and aspects but in my eyes, they've been buried under a mountain of bugs, performance issues, crashes, glitches, and unhelpful patches.
But, whatever. I'll put my money where my mouth is and resume the patch download on Steam.
