I don't want to be working today. I want to be polishing up my map, dammit.
#DeliverHype :D has anything big changed since I saw it yesterday?

Has anyone else had any problems queuing up for a party over the weekend? Still trying to figure out if it's my new router (Airport Extreme that apparently has an open NAT) or if there was a matchmaking issue of some sort.

I haven't had this much fun with multiplayer since Halo 2. Halo 3 was great but I didn't have as strong of an urge to play it. It sucks I gotta work all week. >:[

I've been having problems using the queue feature since the Reach servers went down during the weekend. Spartans profiles don't fully load unless I go through them individually too.

Hope this fixes itself soon.

I think one of the few things keeping Reach from attaining "perfection" status is the lack of mid-game joins. That and kill-cams, or at least making it more apparent exactly what just killed you, without having to go back to Forge later and hunt it down.

I added lots of cover and lots and lots and LOTS of guard rails (which more often than not double as cover). Added the secondary walkway to the side of the bases from below, and about 1/2 of the weapons (base armament and power weapons distributed).

Tonight I want to finalize four bits of geometry (side bridges and the corners with the round canisters), add the last guard rails & weapons, and finally fix the man cannons so they are um, more accident free. :lol

I'll post a video tour, NOKYARD-style, when that's done.

One thing I wish Bungie would have done w/ quitters is re-balance the teams. Dealing with quitters wouldn't be so bad if the games didn't get so lop-sided.

So glad that stuff isn't in Reach, and I hope it's never added to a Halo game.

I am up for some custom games, a buddy and I are in a lobby trying to decide what to do.

So instead we have an epidemic of lopsided games where quitters abound. I don't see how that's an improvement on the multiplayer formula.

And while we don't need COD style cinematic kill-cams, I've just run into so many situation where it seems like I just die, for seemingly no reason. Now sure, if I go back into Theater I can track down just what random grenade got me, or see two shots just manage to hit me simultaneously, but it wouldn't hurt to have these things more apparent while you're still playing the match.

I critique because I care. I just want Reach to be perfect. ;P

I'm gettting really frustrated with the emphasis on power weapons in this game. I know that going for the power weapons was a focal point for the previous Halo games, but in Halo: Reach, it feels like Gears of War where every power weapon is dumped on every map and they each spawn every 10 seconds.

There's two snipers, a Rocket Launcher, Shotgun and Plasma Launcher all on Boardwalk (two Rocket Launchers on Slayer Pro; lolwat).

And holy shit does the Sniper just ruin the flow of every map in this game.

interesting .. i feel the complete opposite .. most games i play are all DMR fests.

Not exactly a kill cam, but if you get killed by a bullet from behind, the cam swings around to show you who shot you.

Also, Mid game joining, I am against, I just want a harsher quitter ban ;).

I'd rather start a match knowing I'm a man down than having people drop in and out all willy-nilly like I see in CoD games. I'd also hate dropping into a game two kills away from the end, and have to wait even longer to play.

Unless it's fucking SWAT or shitty fucking Snipers I generally have a good idea where my death came from, I just don't want more crap from CoD (a series I don't enjoy) crammed into a Halo game (a series I love.)

I don't really think that would help, but something needs to be done. But fine, if that solution can look nothing like COD, because everything in COD is horrible and hateful, then come up with a third way.

It sucks to start matchmaking, get outvoted and play a match you don't like, and then end up with half or less than half a team, all the while realizing that if you quit out of the game you'll be penalized.

Not one aspect of that experience is fun, and its happening too much for my tastes.

The gameplay is great - my versus experiences have been so so though.

In that case, I'll refrain from returning my router!

I agree with you.
And Boardwalk has to be the worst map in Halo Reach... it's just so confusing. I've played many games on that map and I still have problems getting around it.

I definitely see the case for drop in/out matchmaking, but I love the Halo system so much more, when it works. There are times where I am haunted by quitters and it's absolute shit, but it feels like, I dunno, every game is "important" - at least in the context of the moment. The teams are set from the get-go, so it's really a case of which team outplays the other. There aren't "ringers" joining mid-match, the personnel on each side stays the same (ideally), so it's about which team is better.

Power weapon lockdown issues and quitters aside, I feel Halo's system is better. Not everyone agrees, I'm sure, but I like it.

Anyone managed to hijack
a Banshee on The Package?

Managed it today on legendary, seemed kinda weird. It was the very first Banshee you encounter, while arming the turrets. Quick blast with the Pro Pipe to disable it, and i'd taken it. Weirdly, there was no one driving it in the first place...

The two banshees I've grabbed on campaign were in
Tip of the Spear where I jet packed from the top of the Spire and barely caught it and from the emergency evac point in New Alexandria where I sprinted the off the platform and made a nice long jump to snag it.

I especially enjoyed the first one since I was attempting to do that while my co-op partner kept running inside to get murdered by Elites. That ended when I drove the banshee through the control room, though I didn't actually survive.

I managed to hijack the first one coming at me with a jetpack. I'm pretty however there was a pilot. I don't remember exactly however.

What makes you think that mid game joining wouldn't thrown you into the same shitty situations you are hoping it would fix? The last thing I would ever want to do would be having to play a game I had no vote in, on a team where people quit likely because they were getting beat.

Also probably half the time I joined a game in MW it was within two minutes of the end and my team was shit (which is why half of the team left). With all the stat tracking Reach does I would be the worst player in the world if they had drop in/out.

Exactly. Join a game mid match to find 1 other guy on your team or start the game and have 1 other guy on your team. Either way you get screwed.

Holy shit! I had no idea the Bubble Shield regenerated your health when you're inside it. Hurray for lasting longer in Legendary Firefight!

If Firefight didn't exist I don't know if I'd bother playing this game that much. The horror of an Elite diving into the room with his Fuel Rod gun is unmatched.

Mid game joins would be a good idea in a game type like Invasion, where people are quitting after the first phase.

I certainly wouldn't mind that. Maybe make it so that you can only join Invasion games before the third phase as way to limit joining the game right before it ends.

you almost have to have a full team to dependably enjoy Reach mp. You'll get your way in most voting situations, no one quits, you'll coordinate with whoever is controlling what power weapons, etc. Good times.

Wow the slayer playlist is so broken. First game swat, second game snipers, third game swat. It's crazy how many people enjoy and pick swat for every game.

I have to agree with this. Maybe I was too young/dumb to notice in 2, but 3 and Reach feel a lot more team oriented to me. Which I totally don't mind. Playing a fun game with your friends is on my list of Best Things in the World.

Played a few more games, did decently, so now I like the game again.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?

Having a hard time using AL against the hammer.

Works great against the sword as long as you time your lock properly (just before they lunge iiuc) but guys seem to be able to get a second sing of the hammer in before I can pop-out and melee.

It'll be worse today because of the headshot challenge. But yeah I cannot wait for the SWAThopper.

Hate to say it, but I'm comparing my experience to COD here, and these problems just don't arise.

Other problems do though - and COD's broken perk system, lag, explosives whoring, more lag, and knife fighting killed any chances on me settling on that game long term.

Now Reach has given me plenty of lag free games, with all kinds of fun to be had playing in the sandbox. Its only the quitters that make the game less than it should be in my eyes. If we'll never see mid-game joins in a Halo game, maybe we'll someday see alternate systems to compensate for being down a few players - like some kind of bonus to player traits to help make up the difference. So if the game became 6 against 1 it would turn into some kind of juggernaut match or something ;P I don't know.

And don't get me wrong: Every single other aspect of the game is absolutely top notch in my book. Reach is absolute gaming crack for me, and I have a blast every time I boot up the game.
