I noticed SuperMetalDave/Trev is doubling down on what he believes, especially saying that developers are excited for NX and somehow links that to rumours saying the NX is more powerful than the PS4...

But all I can think of is when Matt said not to expect any changes to western third party support for NX which was in comparison to the Wii U's western third party support.
Matt? Whos matt?

Who's brought up the stupid 10do thing here? This is hoax. It's gonna be a Joke Video, so please you don't need to talk it here any further

"Hey guys, we've got a new system releasing. Who should we notify?"

"Nobody. Secret surprise Nintendo Direct that nobody will get to watch live."

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense.
I'm pretty sure they would atleast give as much as a heads up as they did the 3DS Direct and not just randomly post it one day. Thats what I think.

But would be funny as hell if they did. I'd be pissed at randomly going to NeoGAF and seeing new game announcement spoilers before watching it on the ND tho.

Well, it wouldn't be the most baffling decision Nintendo has ever made.

They also *could* announce the Direct tomorrow or Monday, though that seems implausible given that tomorrow is a Sunday and Monday is a national holiday in the US.

I firmly believe on the Eurogamer leak, but man, how hysterical would it be if that random guy is right and everyone has indeed been fooled with fakes and the NX turns out to be something entirely different to what has been discussed since July. It'd be amazing to see it unfold.

I don't particularly think Nintendo cares, or that it matters, if you can watch the reveal stream live. Which in itself will probably be prerecorded.

I would die from laughter.

That a random person was more credible than Eurogamer.

It's 2016 and we have the internet, an actual press event isn't honestly that important. While I'm not convinced they would do it by a Direct, they certainly could. All that matters is that news outlets get the info they need to write up articles about the system for everyone to read. They just need to send out a beefy press packet with a bunch of product info, screen shots and videos of it and games. Then they could hold actual more one on one press events over the couple weeks following to let major outlets get real hands on time with the system to then write up more in depth system impressions.

Doesn't matter to consumers what kind of reveal they do, we the get the info the same way. Readers don't care if they've formally invited the press to some big physical event at some venue or if they only send out a big info sheet via email. As long as they get the info on the system that's all that matters. And really given how shitty the gaming press is about reporting misheard info, or just straight up made up stuff they thought someone said, about new games and systems at these big press events just sending out a faqs sheet would probably be better.

For all we know, journalists and etc could have already played with it and given their impressions but are on NDAs until Nintendo does the Direct presentation.

Not saying that's the case, but at this point it feels like anything can happen.

I do remember theories about this being a controlled leak and Nintendo's way of gauging interest in a "hybrid" device. Only thing that seemed strange the current leaks to me all was that the ninjas were apparently slacking on protecting the hardware but no one could get even a morsel of info on the software, beyond the port talk from Emily a couple of months ago. Not even the tiniest whiff of original games. Haven't really heard much about the OS either other than the android-not-android stuff too.

Even Ubisoft is remarkably quiet.

Hey Dystify, been meaning to say; FANTASTIC work on this! :D I notice you've taken much inspiration from my NX fact threads and I'm very happy that you've taken initiative to take over, so I'm happy to pass the torch to you for now! :)

I might finally make a new fact thread myself once the unveiling happens. Maybe.

Yeah, it's only been hardware talk. We still have the Nico guy saying Nintendo reveal would be around the 20th and Retro was working on two games. He seemed pretty reliable in the past.

Holograms make a return to the Nintendo ON ...X.

EDIT: On second thought, weren't there rumors a while ago about Nintendo using donut screens or something like that for its next handheld. What happened to that?
I remember something about donut screens. I think it was this.

https://www.engadget.com/2014/12/17/nintendo-sharp-donut-device-rumor/

Maybe it'll be somewhat used for the final product, but it seems unlikely. That was two years ago and plans change.

Lmao have you seen this?

https://youtu.be/AxAgdnElR1k

How desperate can you be to use a user comment as evidence. Holy crap I should leave a comment saying it's all true, NX leaks tricked everyone and the 16th is real. He'd probably make another video. This is just sad to use a random comment on the interner.
Oh, wow. I thought it was pretty bad when SMD tweeted about it, but making a whole video?

Ubisoft was the first to announce a title for NX so I wouldn't say they're remarkably quiet. I also imagine that the LPVG leak about the Motion Controls and the force feedback came from a Ubisoft dev. I think they only game mentioned is Just Dance and they'd definitely be the ones to know about the motion controls as the game is all about that.
Matt's just an ordinary Matt, whereas SuperMetalDave is super and metal. So I'm inclined to believe him.
Matt? Whos matt?
Exactly

Link to this 10do rumor?

A recap of today's rumblings:

I follow these guys for a couple of years now and they are doing a fantastic job and are trustworthy in my opinion. If the information from them is wrong, then it must be the source which is wrong after all. Very nice guys, I can almost guarantee you they wouldn't make something like that up.

If true, surprise direct would be awesome and horrible at the same time. Awesome because its in a couple of days and horrible because the direct won't be watched by many people and misses the opportunity to generate hype with an countdown.

I really don't know what I should think about the whole 6th September thing. Of course a surprise direct just doesn't make any kind of logical sense.
On the other hand I know 10do.de for years and well they might be a small hobby nintendo side, they wouldn't joke about such a thing. Also they've get always invited for all kinds of Nintendo press events in Germany and should definitively know people at Nintendo Europe.

So I kinda believe that they have heard something. Just it doesn't makes sense. I can only imagine they misunderstood their source and they put out a direct announcement video for the 6th. That would be more believable. Anyway I'm just suspicious and don't trust anything at the moment.

Honestly I just checked 10do's forum. On their Nintendo Direct discussion thread he posted on last wednesday that there will be a NX direct soon, and he is on something.
Then on Friday evening he said it lookes like there would be a direct with all facts the coming week and it seems like they would announce it before. He also has no clue why.

I just posted there and asked him if he is sure that is a direct and not just a teaser what he thinks is coming for tuesday. Let's see.

Edit: but don't expect an answer soon. It's 1 AM in Germany right now.

A recap of today's rumblings:
Oh man there's actually some people saying these guys are reliable? I want to believe so bad now. September 6th works because it's after Labor Day in the US and it's right before Sonys Meeting. I want it to be true so bad.

I can just picture it now. Everyone's waiting for a supposed NX announcement on September 6th which I assume is around UTC standard in relation to the date.

Nothing happens and it becomes September 7th. Next, someone makes a thread, "So who's thinking about buying a PS4 NEO and dropping NX?"

There's no way that rumor can be true. I will lose my goddamn mind if, on Tuesday, they unceremoniously dump an hour-long NX unveiling on Youtube. At best, we'll get the announcment of the announcement video, rife with wacky skits.

This seems like the best outcome and honestly, I would be pretty hyped for an announcement of an announcement. At least that means that pieces are starting to move.

LOL 0% ? Didn't we make the same statement with the W ii U?? And they ended up using an old IBM design for the CPU??

No, this isn't even remotely the same thing. Forgetting about IBM's misleading press release, we know from insiders that the Wii U always had the same PPC750 based CPU architecture right from the very first dev kit. In fact by the time the system launched it actually got a clock boost (went from 1.0GHz to 1.2GHz). There was no "back step" in this regard.

Whilst I'm not saying last minute downgrades can't happen, these typically manifest themselves as downclocks or less memory. Outright switching architecture from the newer Maxwell based Tegra X1 to the older Kepler based Tegra K1 is outside the realm of reality. There are some pretty big architectural difference between Kepler and Maxwell, swapping them now would fuck over developers for no good reason. If Nintendo intended to use Kepler, they would have used a K1 from the beginning.

I think we all expect it would be an announcement video. Lol now we're all going to be here on Tuesday just waiting and waiting for it.

Btw the Pokemon news is coming 6am PT on Tuesday (Pokemon Channel). So, they may do it earlier than that or would announce it after that. Of course this would be on Nintendos channel.

Is the NX the most anticipated console reveal of all time?

I am personally not hopeful that it will make me happy. But prior to the Eurogamer leaks, I was hyped.

My most hyped console reveal was "Project Reality".

It seemed like Revolution was a particularly crazy one since people knew that it would have a radical controller so speculation went rampant. Then of course when the controller was revealed, the Internet collectively shat itself. The box was revealed well before that though, so it's a bit different.

Oh man, those were good times. Nothing beats the Wii speculation. I mean, the console was codenamed "revolution" and that the controller was hyped beyond belief. Speculation ranged from visors to controllers that let you smell the games lol

What is amazing is that the controller wasn't leaked until 2 hours before it was announced when someone drew a sketch of the nunchuck part and said it was egg shaped.

There was even a rumor that the controller was all touchscreen (sounds familiar?)

I wonder how people will take the idea of detachable controllers? It reeks of cheapness and an attempt to make a machine something it's not (i.e. a tablet/phone)

Not even in the same galaxy as Wii U

If we end the year without another Mega64 announcement skit I'm going to be really bummed.

Anybody expecting western third-party support to be any better on NX than it was on Wii U is putting their finger so far up their nose it can come out their ass.

I'm certainly hoping for more support. Western or otherwise.

Nintendo can pretend that they aren't competing with Sony/MS, but they are still selling games, and at the very least they compete for the attention of developers.

Any significant changes will be from Japan. 3DS support there should mostly carry over, and some percentage of mid-tier/budget PS4/Vita games should be attainable.

Indie support should also be better with a modern hardware architecture, but otherwise, don't expect too much.

If thats true I think it might be just a reveal for now, and then a press conf. with hands on later.

Thats not too bad, press will still get out all the info so if people dont watch it, it still will be all over online.

Kinda funny if they will get the info out before Apple and Sony event lol

Basically. Which should still end up being great support since it doesn't have to be spread between two systems (3 if you count the Vita).

But no one should be expecting the GTAs, Fallouts, etc.

Western third parties will only come if it sells well, not before.

Nintendo's better off focusing on their own output and Japanese third parties. Nintendo really needs to get more western studios under their wing. They need to go back to when they released games like Goldeneye, 1080 Snowboarding, etc.
