The fire department and police came and razed their camp afterward.

I think we thought we were being kind but in retrospect, it seems kind of dumb to not have asked them to relocate sooner? The needles and fire seem like pretty needless dangers to our children (insurance would have taken care of any property damage by the fire I'm sure, unless me knowing they lived there meant they wouldn't, not sure).

I wish the city would raise our taxes and help everyone out.”

A real story though, when I was a kid then was a house close by that had an outdoor water tap, behind a wall on a main road.

Was brilliant for water bombing people.

Was also a small porta-cabin, we used to go in in the odd time, was just full of gardening stuff. Usual things.

Went in one day and there was a sleeping bag, candles and someone had decorated it with pictures from magazines and newspapers. We thought it was awesome and never went in again.

If one of her parents is white then why isn’t she also white? I honestly don’t understand US race politics and I agree with the other poster that in Europe people wouldn’t assume she’s black, but in general people also don’t really talk about race here. If you value your time posting on a forum where the rules are "either agree with this perspective or get banned" then you're basically forced to reflect a particular dogma in your posts. I know this is true because I've had to soften many posts over the years by prefacing or ending my posts with those beliefs.

After a while, if that forum is the only place you're interacting with others online, you eventually succumb to group think.

The thing is, I would wager that if you had many of those people isolate themselves for 2-6 months from all social media and ResetERA that their political beliefs would steer towards the center. They'd probably be a lot less miserable as well but that's a whole other subject.

Technically he was banned for saying "fuck black people", which isn't unreasonable - the unreasonable thing is that they think it's fine when it's white people.

I have been trying to get banned from there for a while. I even turned that goal into a game with rules:
- Not too obvious by shitposting/trolling
- If I reply on something I have to properly explain my reasoning.
- Don't post too much to make it too easy for them.

I'm surprised how hard this game is considering how easy it was for others to get banned for something they didn't agree with.
