Wat? Care to explain?
- The point of the clock tower in the original was to signal for a rescue chopper, and since that's not a remake storyline, there's no point to the clock tower
Mikhail's not wounded and sitting. That's in the original. He's up and about, giving orders to Carlos and Tyrell, having an interesting discussion with Nicholai where he suspects he's up to something... More interesting than, "Ugh they're coming! Fire, FIRE!" And in this rendition, Nicholai gets his ass shot and left for dead (though possibly leaves it open to him escaping as per previous canon) as opposed to him just taking off in a chopper easy peasy like in the original.If Dario, Marvin, Kendo, Murphy having the same screen time in the full game as in a trailer, I guess that is disappointing. Actually I feel tricked.
"Mikhail as a character gets much more screen time" <-- Yeah wounded and sitting. Interesting as hell.
"The demo scenes make up like 5% of the game lol" <--- and 70% of the novel game design. The demo scenes are pretty much what we got from RC, the rest are mostly reused assets from re2, and super generic level design (hospital, lab) where every room is pretty much the same.
"Nemesis's new forms are MUCH more interested than the original" <-- Not for me, that's for sure.
"Nicholai's story arc" <-- What story arch? He is bad and unrealistically greedy that's it. Did I miss something?
It's definitely an iconic moment, but they already used that concept in the remake at the start on top of the parking garage where Nemesis destroys the rescue chopper."The point of the clock tower in the original was to signal for a rescue chopper, and since that's not a remake storyline, there's no point to the clock tower" <-- Yeah Butchering another iconic moment. Among many who played RE3 as a kid, that scene came in the second half of the game, made us believe we beat the game, then Nemesis shoots the helicopter made all of us jump from the chair.
It's definitely an iconic part of Raccoon City, which is why it's still there (and looks fantastic btw). But its purpose in the original isn't served in the remake, and the puzzles within it aren't really what you'd expect to find in an "more realistic" reimagining, like the music box. If you were to include the clock tower in the remake, what would you make the purpose of the location? In the original, Jill explores it in search of gears that can be used to activate the bell in order to signal a rescue helicopter as per UBCS orders. There's no rescue chopper in the remake, UBCS has no such order in the game, and thus there's no point in exploring it to activate the bell. Thus, the only other purpose it serves in the original is a boss fight, which it still serves in the remake.Wat? Care to explain?
Clock Tower is a turistic point of Raccon City. Even if there is no reason to use, even less to cut.
At first she's very aggressive towards Carlos and Mikhail because they're puppets of Umbrella. She's continuously standoffish around Carlos. After he saves her from Nemesis at STAGLA, she apologises to him and admits they got off on the wrong foot. She starts to be amused and interested in his personality and jokes, and her appreciation for him reaches its peak after he vaccinates her in the hospital. But their connection building ends there. She shows concern for his wellbeing at the end, but the story doesn't pursue any romantic interest. They make it a point that he's interested in her, and she's obviously a little interested in him, but they don't develop anything beyond that.So can anyone tell me how Jill's attitude towards Carlos and the others change? I suspect she'll warm up to them, but looking for confirmation.
He has two sections; the RPD and the Hospital. His exploration of the RPD takes about 15-20 minutes, and his exploration of the Hospital takes 25-35 minutes and includes a boss-like challenge at the end.How many hours is the Carlos section long?
Sort of. In the original, the flow goes Hospital -> Park -> Disposal Factory -> Ending.According to the OP, there is a new lab section? Is there any sort of self-destruct sequence in this game? (kinda my fav part of RE games)
While I can't say for sure, there was a runner who has clearly completed the game once and replayed it to record and upload. During his footage, he visits the point shop. He has 6,060 points and has spent 2,000 on a costume. Since he was replaying the game on Assisted mode, it's likely he played the first time in Assisted mode also, suggesting one Assisted playthrough garners approx. 8,000 points.Any word on how many points each run grants the player per average?
I heard about an 'unlock shop' at the menu for you to get the weapons and costumes, but I wanted to know how many times I'd have to clear the game to open everything up.
For instance, iirc the rocket launcher costs 62.000 points or something like that.

Reportedly there's a challenge system in play, wherein the game will continuously supply you with with challenges to complete during gameplay (likely stuff like accruing a certain amount of headshots or perform so many perfect dodges in a row, etc).I see... if that's correct, then we're talking a ridiculous amount of times for anyone not into speedrunning to unlock all of it.
Well, at least they're promoting replayability I guess (or their paid unlock-key)

That said, I have not discovered any "challenge menu". Potentially the challenge system may operate via RE.net.
Well, that helps with speeding up the unlocking. I saw the rai-den (the electric magnum) in action and it's headshots look stylish as hell, can't wait to play with it.
Also, are there any screenshots from the unlocking menu? The only 'price' I recall is the rocket launcher's
Thank you very much, I was hoping for more game timeHe has two sections; the RPD and the Hospital. His exploration of the RPD takes about 15-20 minutes, and his exploration of the Hospital takes 25-35 minutes and includes a boss-like challenge at the end.
No, there is no self-destruct. There is an impending missile strike, but the game has no countdown to this event like in the original.
Honestly though everything about this is pretty much the same crying about the resident evil 2 remake hell that one had more basing considering the only memorable things from Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is Jill's outfit and Nemesis itselfEh. Pre-ordered the day it was announced, still gonna get it delivered (providing we don't go into a complete covid-19 lockdown in the UK)
I see some of the same complaints are being banded round as there was for remake 2 ala cut enemies, easy difficulty being easy (lol) nemesis is annoying like mr x (mr x wasn't a hassle at all), the game being short.
Seriously, it's like last February reading some of these complaints and RE2R turned out to be an amazing game.
I can understand being upset about the clocktower being cut and mercenaries mode aswell, but to cry about almost everything is ridiculous. "If you feel that strongly about it, don't buy it."
Man look at those times....
Cauchemar => Nightmare
Enfer => Inferno
First game with quick turn that is a mandatory staple in these games. First game to use the ammo crafting system, first game to have Mercenaries which is now a series staple. It runs a lot deeper and brought more to the table than RE2 ever did as a game.considering the only memorable things from Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is Jill's outfit and Nemesis itself
Speedruns for this game will easily make it low 40s, possibly high 30s in minutes.Man look at those times....
Cauchemar => Nightmare
Enfer => Inferno
I hope critics and fans don't give Capcom another freepass.
Will probably do.I hope critics and fans don't give Capcom another freepass.
Or they're selling the game THEY want to make and not the game YOU thought they were gonna makeSpeedruns for this game will easily make it low 40s, possibly high 30s in minutes.
What's worrying is, unlike RE1/2, there is only one campaign, and unlike RE3 Classic, there are no random elements, multiple endings, live-selections, mercenaries, or Nemesis kill runs to add replay value. The closest thing to this is Nightmare/Inferno difficulties changing enemy placement. This combined with the reuse of the exact same zombie models, cut enemies being replaced with more RE2make assets, major locations not returning (Clock Tower, Dead Factory), etc. reveals why REsistance is being sold alongside it--Capcom isn't selling us a complete game.
I hope critics and fans don't give Capcom another freepass.
This remake won't receive anywhere near the acclaim of RE2 remake because RE2 had other qualities RE3 lacks. RE2 was not only an impressive remake of a classic PS1 title, it was also the first time we'd seen the true power of RE Engine. On top of that, it gained notoriety for being scary and a true horror game.You know, at the end of the day, you may say that it's a likeable and appealing remake, after all. You can't just bear a grudge against it (despite the omissions and changes).
It's something that you'd really like to sink your teeth into. I don't know if it's gonna receive universal acclaim like RE2Remake, but we'll see....
Resident Evil 2 received "universal acclaim" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, and "generally favorable reviews" for the PC according to review aggregator Metacritic.

I will let you know that the pace and action-style of the demo is consistent throughout the game. The demo is actually a great indicator of how the rest of the game plays.If nothing else I expect the usual suspects in the gaming media to give the game extra points because of Jill's redesign in their reviews lol.
Because remember, women showing skin makes Jesus sad.
And when she puts on jeans she magically transforms like a Japanese magical girl into a stronk woman, it gives her a plus 500 in her strength stat.
We've already seen it in interviews, I am sorta going to stay away from the big reviews just because that shit gives me a headache.
They just can't help themselves.
Honestly tho my hype has gone down a little after some of the negativity I've seen.
I have yet to pre-order the game, I usually do that the day before or something like that.
I am not 110% sure atm, I've been looking forward to this game a lot tho.
I think that what's the most disappointing to me is that the game really does feel more like a straight up action game in the demo.
The original game was more action-based so I did expect that. But it sorta just doesn't feel as good as RE2 to me in some way, it's hard to explain.
It's about the same length as RE2, for reference.I just worry about length.
Damn, that guy mastered the game.Man look at those times....
Cauchemar => Nightmare
Enfer => Inferno
Is that really the ending? Something seems off, like a failed QTE.

PC gamer review praises RE2 zombies. Nah fuck off, having to put 30 bullets into one zombie isn't good.
