Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition listed on PEGI for PC/Steam

It wasn't supported, but they're already adding the DLC. Why not add the splitscreen?

Probably for the same reason they didn't bother initially with REvelations 2, it would be another thing to test. It might be in there in some rough form.

Nah, the Gold Edition should also be on sale according to Steam facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Steam/posts/10152763682162339

What's the final price for previous owners? I had $50 set aside for MGSV but now that that got pushed back I'll probably grab this, Hotline 2 and Besiege.

We don't know, it seems Capcom announced the launch and sales to steam but didn't make the game available to the public. Capcom is pretty bad with PC gaming haha,

Wat

It probably hasn't been published on Steam yet. We know from the Steam DB that you can buy DLC separately. Notice that there's also no Gold Edition available yet.

Where is the DLC? And this is Steamworks now? Like if we already owned the GFWL version?

I think someone hasn't pulled the switch yet on the pages and content.
Still GFWL and no DLC page. Also it is looking like Original owners will still get Steam Works just not DLC.

Oh ok.

At least it looks like its been moved to Steamworks or not? - considering the fact that I see the achievements which is nice!

Edit: No mention of GFWL anywhere on Steam page - looks like they are in the middle of the process or something.

I was playing RE5 today. It refused to save my game even though i have a live account and are signed it. They better switch to steam quick! >=(

Alright guys, I pulled the trigger early today, and after installing it it still prompted GFWL. The game didnt run after I picked the DirectX version (Since I don't have GFWL on the machine, it didnt even start)

They haven't even made the announcement that the Gold Edition is coming to PC yet. It's odd that they've been completely silent about it when we expect it to actually release.

So the Gold Edition is NOT up yet. Hopefully it's up before the sale ends...

It better be since that's supposed to be the reason were having this sale in the first place.

Someone royally messed up. Either steam put a midweek before it should have.
Or capcom didn't have their affairs in order by the time their midweek came up.
Though the Steam Page does make it sound like this was going to be more of a surprise announcement thing.
Sort of like when Ace Combat got Steam Works. Which was much the same way. Namco said it awhile back and then BOOM sale with game and patch later on.

Unfortunately I think it's unlikely that GFWL keys from retail can be used to activate on Steam, RE5 was one of the early titles that could be activated with any GFWL key prior to a certain date.

If they kept track of only the codes that actually shipped with RE5, then it should be possible, but it's Capcom :\

It was possible with Arkham Asylum which used the same DRM as RE5. So I'm sure things will be ok.

The Steam page refers to the Windows version as being the previous release, so it must be coming very soon. Also lol at the mulitplayer warning, looks like they learned from the Rev 2 debacle.

Content Description

This game is a port of the Games for Windows - Live version that was released in 2009. If you buy the Untold Stories Bundle here on Steam, it will be the same as upgrading to Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition.
Caution

Does not support NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision which came with the original Games for Windows - Live version.

Multiplayer is done through online matching, so split-screen play is not supported.

You can import your old save and achievement data from the Games for Windows - Live version. When doing this, please set the Steam and game languages to the language you used in the GFWL version, or the data may not be imported correctly.

Edit: Interesting, I failed ot noticed this in my original post, haha. If you buy the Untold Stories Bundle here on Steam, it will be the same as upgrading to Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. So it looks the DLC is packaged separately in addition to the Gold version, so Games for Windows people probably won't get an upgraded to Gold automagically? :(

Ahh ok.
Man this seems like quite the mess regardless since the other content isn't there.
Also is odd they're selling the GFWL version to people still. If the other version is supposed to replace it.

Hope somebody gets the split screen mod working.

They didn't say anything about no Split Screen for Campaign though.
Yeah loss of VS split screen is kinda sad but it's not really that amazing of a mode that lends itself well to just split screen.
Don't recall if you could have guests online but I don't think you could. Only guests with system link on 360.

On steam forum people are saying it's got pulled at the last minute because of certification problem with MS.

Dark Samus is a mod there btw

For now it still requires GFWL.

Had a chat to wbacon about what is going on...
DarkSamus: www.pegi.info/en/index/global_id/505/?searchString=Resident+Evil+5+Gold+Edition[www.pegi.info]
DarkSamus: ^Pegi website says that RE5 releases on steam today, is this true?
wbacon [capcom]: not today
wbacon [capcom]: it's unfortunately still in Microsoft cert :(
wbacon [capcom]: There was a last minute surprise that prevented the game from being released today
DarkSamus: M$ is slow as ♥♥♥, my bet is they will take weeks to approve the patch
DarkSamus: May I know what that last minute surprise is?
wbacon [capcom]: it's somewhat technical, and it's MS confidential so I can't share
DarkSamus: thats fair
wbacon [capcom]: regardless, we're working on a resolution to get us unblocked
DarkSamus: cool
wbacon [capcom]: Game itself has been ready and all is good functionality wise - just getting it through some of the technicalities that resulted in a slight hold-up
DarkSamus: Why can't some people access the store page mate?
DarkSamus: Is there going to be a region lock on RE5?
wbacon [capcom]: oh, I think it's still restricted to GFWL-supported countries at this time. It'll open up WW once the Steamworks version goes live
Hope that helps clear up some things

Uh why would they need to certify with MS at all if they are dropping GFWL.
Regardless sounds like who knows when it will go up.
Hopefully regardless they throw the game on sale longer to make up for it.
