Seems the description has been changed back to the old one. Maybe it won't be this week.
What are these DLCs? I remember the Lost in Nightmares one, which was like a throwback to RE1. What else?
I'm probably sounding like Capcom's PR account right now, but I don't know why anybody would expect it to be free, and so long as it's reasonably priced ($5?), I'd be happy to pay for it. Regardless of whether the DLC should've been ported to the PC version at its console release, it's new-to-PC content that required extra work.
Now, if it's $10, then I'll be pretty damn angry, too, and I'll probably wait for a sale.
Where is this entitlement coming from? Capcom should release those DLCs on PC when they released it on consoles, but just because they do it now doesn't mean we should expect them to be free. It would be nice of them if they would gift bonus content to people who already have the game, but expecting it and be angry that they don't is... something else. It's still an additional content and porting it required some work to do. Capcom wasn't even obliged to port the game to Steamworks.
I just think it is weird to have a sale now. Have it when Gold releases instead.
Dead Rising 2 next please Capcpom

Oh yeah, let's pay Capcpom money for old content (for officially their best-selling game of all-time to boot) after they chose to blissfully ignore adding it to the PC version for years on end. With them also taking their merry ol' time reaching the decision of removing GFWL from it. Never mind other developers handing out similarly-sized content for free to celebrate the Steamworks patch (or otherwise a belated PC release), since they valued creating goodwill given the circumstances.Where is this entitlement coming from? There's entitlement, and then there's a company having the balls of still demanding more money after they royally screwed the pooch by neglecting their fanbase.

My issue isn't paying for the DLC, it's if i have to play through the campaign to be able to play it. I already have a platinum on the PS3 version, i just want to play the DLC since i never got around to it on the PS3.
After the patch, if/when people transfer their saves to Steamworks, then maybe you can use one of their saves. I used someone else's Steamworks save with Arkham City because I lost my GFWL save.
There's also instances like Metal Gear Rising and Valkyria Chronicles where the previously downloadable content was still included to the main package, to make up for the fact it had been available on consoles already for a long time. Could've easily been separated, but they didn't. The precedent is there, only Capcpom chose to be greedy. Which I guess I should've expected, considering they can't manage their company / capital properly.I got Minerva's Den and the Batman Arkham Asylum/City GOTY DLC for free, and I'm thankful for that. However, that content was already available on PC in some form, just shackled to the GFWL Marketplace. In the case of Minerva's Den, it was /only/ sold via the GFWL Marketplace, so 2K didn't know who owned Minerva's Den and who didn't, and so ended up giving it to everybody. It was generous, and built a bit of goodwill, but I would've paid for it if it was reasonable priced. It's like Valve giving out DLC for free - it's nice that they do so, but I don't expect every company to follow suit, and if those other companies put a price on DLC, I'll pay the price I think it's worth.
If you don't like Capcom's practices or think the price is too high (and it might be too high for me), then don't buy it or wait for a sale. I don't see the point of holding a grudge when, at the end of the day, the content is coming to PC, and won't be gimped by a shitty port or anything.
Difference being Rockstar and EA hardly made a good name for themselves 'recently' (read: the last few years) with their PC offerings, unlike Capcpom. They used to have a stellar track record post-DMC3 / RE4.Maybe they could really neglect their fanbase and just never patch it to steamworks like GTA IV and Bulletstorm while keeping that DLC as a console exclusive.
Which is exactly what I'm going to do. Doesn't make it any less of a shitty practice on their behalf. You can always... not pay them and simply not have the content?
Like it or not, this is their good will. The product they are selling has been working since the release and is still working nowadays just fine. Just because Steamworks is a better service than GfWL doesn't mean Capcom has some obligation to update their 5+ years old game.
But no, let's just stamp our feet and demand more, because we (somehow) deserve it!
By all means though, do continue telling them you'll gladly hand them over cash for repeatedly dropping the ball. Surely that'll improve the quality and consistency of their output, as they've shown these past few years!

If they do release a whole new version of RE5 I hope it doesn't break compatibilty with GeDoSaTo because I want my next playthrough to be without those awful color filters. Here's an example of what it looks like without the color filter and HUD.

Just because other companies didn't charge for the bonus DLC when they went steamworks doesn't mean Capcom is obligated to follow their lead. Getting mad at them is certainly a rotten case of entitlement.
Wave that kneejerk "gamer entitlement" flag. Capcpom clearly never followed suit before with late releas-Gamer entitlement is real.
Having played through DMC4 a few weeks ago, I'd have to agree. The only thing that's lacking about the human character models in that game by current-day standards is the omission of skin shaders, but other than that they hold up more than fine after all this time. Its environmental texturing is also great.Sharp elbows on Claire.
Which makes me want to gush more over how amazing Capcom's model work has been in their MT Framework games. All the main characters in RE5/6 and DMC4 just look so damn good after all these years.
With the Lost Planet IP seemingly all but dead after 3, I doubt it'll ever happen. Which is a shame, 'cause 2 had some novel ideas for a multiplayer shooter and I wouldn't mind playing through it again with improved PC performance.I hope they reconsider some day and port Lost Planet 2 to Steamworks as well, it would benefit a lot from it.
Hopefully this patch to RE5 happens sooner than later...
I found the PSHash for it last time and I should probably be able to find it again. We could also ring up Boris from ENB to see if he can update the ENB for it since his mod is a much better workaround.
With GeDo you're forced to play without the HUD as well.
Also, adding my own RE5 shots, I used ENB to remove the filter then GeDo post processing to add some more color back in.
I like it a lot.

Will game saves transfer over from the version on sale to the steamworks version? I'm convincing someone to buy it while it's on sale so we can play through it tonight. I don't want to have to start over next week.
You can import your old save and achievement data from the Games for Windows - Live version. When doing this, please set the Steam and game languages to the language you used in the GFWL version, or the data may not be imported correctly

It's bullshit that we even have to buy another package or DLC. This is 6 year old content that should've been released back then on the PC but never did. It should be included for free due to the wait, but this is Capcom so of course that wasn't going to happen.
Before GeDoSaTo came out I'd been using Boris' ENB for RE5 and while it fixed the color filter problem it hurt performance too much. The beauty of GeDoSaTo is it doesn't affect performance at all, it simply disables the post processing. Besides asking Boris to do anything usually winds up with him making disparaging remarks about why a particular game isn't worthy of his time. While I think he's a genius he can be quite mercurial.

I don't doubt that Capcom is going to charge the same price that the DLC still goes for on PSN/XBLA.

When was this patch supposed to be released?

Shitty practice = updating an over 5 years old game to provide gamers with better service and requesting money for a newly released (on the platform) content. Yup, that shitty corporation, not wanting to give away free stuff that someone had to work on (yes, porting the content to PC also requires work); how dare them!
These past few years I bought Capcom's Resident Evil 6 (released on PC with lots of customization options, No Mercy Mercs mode and free Left4Dead characters and monsters pack), RE4 UHD (the company porting the game went out of their way and added a 60fps mode to a game that was never even supposed to support one - game logic was hardcoded with 30fps in mind), RE: Revelations and REmake (both very good ports). Yup, what a shitty output that was.
Your actions, on the other hand, tells them that it is not worth releasing stuff on PC - because people think they deserve free stuff just because.
And your Dead Rising 3 example is faulty, because RE5 - which was also released later than the console counterpart - already had bonus content (bonus costumes for Chris and Sheva and No Mercy mode). And this time they release late DLC - not the game itself.
