Uh why would they need to certify with MS at all if they are dropping GFWL.
Regardless sounds like who knows when it will go up.
Hopefully regardless they throw the game on sale longer to make up for it.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. Why in the hell does MS need to be involved with or approve the process at all?

So that's what it's about, RE5 is still using GFWL.

Has to pass through MS.

They didn't even deploy the streamworks build.

Capcom is still on holidays.

For importing your saves and achievements, that's what DarkSamus said on Steam hub when I brought it up.

Oh, yeah, I guess that makes sense. Bummer for those of us who have nothing to import, though. I kinda wish they'd just update the game anyway and make it clear that saves and achievements import isn't ready yet.

Wonder if I need my save for the achievements or if my profile is what will be used.
That save is lost on a old family computer that doesn't even exist anymore i'm pretty sure.
Not a big deal, will play the game again regardless.

Heads up: Everyone should save their GFWL key just in case we can redeem them later on another Steam account. I think this worked with Super Street Fighter IV.

I'm in the same boat, I have nothing to import, or rather nothing important. I was always planning to start fresh like I did with Dark Souls.

How exactly does it work? Where does the other guy put in the key?

I think you right click on the game in your Steam library and view CD key, then copy that, and then give that to your friend and he puts into Steam like any other code (games > activate product). That way, your friend gets to activate the key, which is now treated as a retail key, and you get to keep your own copy when it transitions to Steam.

EDIT:
Can you link me to the source please?

The Steam page itself says so in the expanded description.

Content Description

This game is a port of the Games for Windows - Live version that was released in 2009. If you buy the Untold Stories Bundle here on Steam, it will be the same as upgrading to Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition.
Caution

Does not support NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision which came with the original Games for Windows - Live version.

Multiplayer is done through online matching, so split-screen play is not supported.

You can import your old save and achievement data from the Games for Windows - Live version. When doing this, please set the Steam and game languages to the language you used in the GFWL version, or the data may not be imported correctly.

That's right. It also worked for Dark Souls aswell.

If they do release a whole new version of RE5 I hope it doesn't break compatibilty with GeDoSaTo because I want my next playthrough to be without those awful color filters. Here's an example of what it looks like without the color filter and HUD.

Instead of removing the filter entirely, you can just use the post-processing in GeDoSato. I used asmodean's with a few tweaks for some of my recent shots:

Looks... bland?

So how long do you think we'll have to wait for MS to certify the Steamworks patch or whatever? DarkSamus on Steam said that it cold take a few more weeks. Fuck that!

So.... buy now for cheap and then wait until the proper Steamworks version goes live so I don't have to mess with save importing? Or do I just wait for the Steamworks version to go live and then catch this bundled with the DLC in a future sale?

I already own the game on 360 but I'd like to have it on my PC.

I seriously don't know what to do. The old version is on sale for under 7 bucks, which is the cheapest I've ever seen it, for the next 3 days but we don't know how much the DLC/Gold Edition is going to be. I guess I wait?

Wait for the last day to see what happens, if no update by then, then buy it~

Apparently the update is ready to go live, Microsoft just have to authorize it.

Buy it. And then buy the new content when that comes out.

I gotta know how much the new content will be first. I'm not the biggest fan of RE5 and I own and platinumed (and 100%d all the dlc trophies even) the Gold Edition on PS3, but I'd be cool with rebuying it for PC now that I have a rig that can run it, but I'm not going to spend over $10 to get everything. $6.80 is awesome, but I want the Gold content too. If the Gold content comes out and is like $10 then it's a bust for me. So I'm gonna need to wait.

That's how I feel. Just want to play Mercs on PC. Lol

Then definitively don't buy it in either case. There's no way either configuration of buying the full package or game+new content is <$10.

Been playing an outrageous amount of mercs on pc lately. anyone currently looking for a partner feel free to send me a friend request. Steam = isamu99 / GFWL = GroovyGhouliez. The addiction is back!

It's bullshit that we even have to buy another package or DLC. This is 6 year old content that should've been released back then on the PC but never did. It should be included for free due to the wait, but this is Capcom so of course that wasn't going to happen.

I don't doubt that Capcom is going to charge the same price that the DLC still goes for on PSN/XBLA.

I'm probably sounding like Capcom's PR account right now, but I don't know why anybody would expect it to be free, and so long as it's reasonably priced ($5?), I'd be happy to pay for it. Regardless of whether the DLC should've been ported to the PC version at its console release, it's new-to-PC content that required extra work.

Now, if it's $10, then I'll be pretty damn angry, too, and I'll probably wait for a sale.

Where is this entitlement coming from? Capcom should release those DLCs on PC when they released it on consoles, but just because they do it now doesn't mean we should expect them to be free. It would be nice of them if they would gift bonus content to people who already have the game, but expecting it and be angry that they don't is... something else. It's still an additional content and porting it required some work to do. Capcom wasn't even obliged to port the game to Steamworks.

It appears you have to buy it separately.

It seems like it will give you the option of upgrading to the Gold Edition at some point.

Huh... That's weird. I just have a feeling that even if I buy it now the upgrade will make it more expensive than buying the Gold Edition directly later on.

I want to play Mercs Reunion again on the PC. I need my Rebecca Chambers fix!

I hope this doesn't go the way of Dark Souls. DS is still not available in countries that don't support GFWL even after it dropped it.
