Resident Evil 6 has gone gold

Oh? Aside from the hair, more detail and differences in the lighting of their models, they are literally the exact same.

Chris is the one who got butchered in BH5. His first appearance in that teaser trailer was PERFECT. Looked like his appearance in REmake, looked genuinely cool and wasn't a beefcake.

ErikB also really needs to quiet down with his zealot attitude over the old camera.

Yeah Chris looked pretty great in the reveal trailer... first time I saw him in RE5 I laughed out loud. It was so ridiculous. However, playing through the game a couple times, Sheva has a couple good lines that only resonate because Chis is a walking hulk... I don't know I guess it grew on me... it's that resident evil cheese that I sometimes enjoy. But yeah original Chris was better.

As far as how Jill looks... I guess it must just be the hair and weird outfit throwing me off.

On a side note, I have always hated the knife attack since RE4... and it's still a slow clunky pile of crap even in RE5, except for Jill's! Her knife attack is awesome and actually works really well. I need to play mercs and see if anyone else has a good one. I wish Sheva had Jill's quick stab attack for the main campaign... so good.

Having never played a Resident Evil game, but knowing a rough idea of the plot (oh look, zombies, shoot them), what game is RE6 continuing the story from? Is there a wiki article or youtube video I should read/watch to get caught up with before playing RE6?

I highly recommend you get and play RE4. Preferably the GameCube version.

Are you sure?

I mean, Capcom have been playing the game longer that you or I have. Heck, they designed it! Are you sure you know better than them how it should play?

OK now you're just being silly. Titus Software designed Superman 64 and played the hell out of it and it was pretty fucking terrible.

So you like the old camera. Good for you. Most people didn't like it, so Capcom changed it. Why does that bother you? Your argument to everyone seems to be, "You haven't played it so you don't know!" Well you haven't played the new camera yet, so how do you know it's not better?

I haven't been able to follow RE6 that much, only watching the short trailers that are available.

can someone who has paid extreme attention to the development and reports of this game tell me (us?) what is in store for us?? there are basically 3 main issues:

.- is multiplayer enforced or even mandatory to enjoy the game?
.- I understand that RE6 has gone the dudebro way and we'll have lots of "combat" but does it make the bigger part of the game?? are we getting a gears of war game with zombies?
.- any word on post-game content? are we getting nice extras like mercenaries and single chapters like ada's assigment and separate ways? or is capcom going to charge for that?

thanks for any help here.

Some people might know better than me on these points, so feel free to correct me. Every campaign gives you a co-op partner, but this doesn't have to be a human. If you're playing by yourself then your partner is controlled by the AI. Otherwise you can have someone join you and take control of your partner.

The
four
different campaigns
(Chris, Leon, Jake, Ada)
each have a different feel to them apparently. The
Chris and Jake
campaigns are more action-oriented, whereas the rest of the game is supposedly more RE4-like
(Leon and Ada's campaigns).

.- any word on post-game content? are we getting nice extras like mercenaries and single chapters like ada's assigment and separate ways? or is capcom going to charge for that?

There's Mercenaries for sure, and there's an unknown "Prologue" campaign that no one knows anything about, but we haven't heard about DLC just yet. This is Cacpom we're talking about though so it wouldn't surprise me.

Well you haven't played the new camera yet, so how do you know it's not better?

True enough.

But I don't have much faith that a change Capcom only made because people who didn't understand why it was like that in the first place wanted it will actually make the game better.

And I know I like the originally intended camera. It looks cool if nothing else!

Either way, I'd still like to play the game the designers intended me to play, just because they seemed to know what they were doing.

yeah look like they is few bad tweaks on Julia Voth face on RE5 but it was still the same.

Well if they can't, Sienna Guillory is the next best choice.

I think (just a guess) Capcom went super cheap ass and didn't want to pay more money for Julia Voth, and using Sienna Guillory face will demand more (since she is a bigger name) and I don't see Capcom doing that.

Didn't they dropped Takeshi Kaneshiro and Byung-hun Lee for the same reasons?

Wait did Capcom always pay Julia Voth to use her likeness as Jill? I haven't even heard of this person until just now.

Just looked it up:

Holy shit. I must have her.

So tell me why they set up the camera the way they had it originally, and why changing it will make the game better?

You're literally arguing about this on two separate boards, probably more, at the exact same time. Not only are you completely over-blowing a non-existent issue with childish exaggerations and nonsense claims, but you don't even know whether the old camera has actually been removed or just relegated to optional status.

You're like a dude incessantly pestering a girl with how and why she should totally go out with him.

If someone could help me out that'd be awesome.

Played the demo for 6 and thought it was pretty awful. Laughably bad GUI, combat felt like it had no oomph(everything felt really 'light'). Lighting was surprisingly terrible, lots of weird looking textures. Zoom camera felt way too close and awkward. Gameplay just felt really, really unpolished and lackluster for being a big Capcom title. I left feeling really disappointed. I hear some things have been looking better since. Could someone summarize changes since the demo or even link to some videos? Again, I'd really appreciate it.

1) No screen-tearing
2) Camera is much better

Those are the only improvements I can tell of without playing a latest build for myself.

Look up the Gamescom demonstration videos, they give you a good idea of how the game plays now. Looks pretty good overall, but then again I never played the demo.

I remember when they announced RE5 and they said it would have things like monsters reacting to light and how zombies in the dark would be tougher and more dangerous

Wonder what happened to that mechanic

Hopefully they also improved the aiming, played the DD demo a few days ago on a friend and while I really liked it overall the aiming felt a little off...that was my only complaint to be honest and to a lesser extent the camera which is now fixed.

Don't kill me guys but for some reason I have a feeling that RE6 will pleasantly surprise us. :P

lrn2playnub!

(Are we allowed to say that here?)

But seriously, stick with it. The game plays pretty well once you get the hang of it. And it isn't just me who says it!

Honestly I'm really turned off by the pixie dust death animation when las plagas dies. And the camera zoom when shooting really sucks.

Can this game be even paused? I remember there wasn't a way to do so in the demo.

I personally thought RE4 was the best one and I don't know why RE5 gets so much hate. I am very much looking forward to RE6 so if it's like either 4 or 5 I won't be mad at all.

Personally, I think Capcom made a big mistake in caving to peoples first impressions and compromising their vision for the camera.

I have now put in a lot of time with the demo... And I really like it!

Like, a lot!

*snip*

You're crazy man, the camera in the demo isn't fit for purpose. It's far too close to the MC and all but makes it impossible to navigate the environment at speeds - Jake demo.

It makes what should be something that they nailed in RE4 a chore. You shouldn't constantly be worrying about taking damage from an unseen enemy, the camera should be in a position where you have peripheral vision at all times, especially if you're going to have fast moving enemies/enemies with guns and projectile weapons.

It is a very different game from RE5 (seriously! Don't go in to it expecting RE5 only now you can move and shoot - this is not that game...

It's a point worth making. Even though it's still very much the classic third person style shooter that RE4 invented, with RE's survival/horror ideals intact, RE6 is much freer and more versatile than anything yet seen with the exception of Vanquish. If RE4/5 are the precise, methodical, high-stakes technique of Street Fighter, RE6 is more akin to a Marvel game. It's incredibly fast-paced and mobile. The execution and technique the game demands of you is much, much more frenetic and varied than its predecessors. Speed runs and expert play videos of RE6 are going to be nuts.

You say it better than me, but I would swear the game shows the potential to be a really well thought out, interestingly designed game that you can get good at.

Yep, my performance between first playing the demo and now (yes, almost 2 months later I am still playing it) has increased tenfold. At first it was bewilderingly confusing. Now I feel like a BSAA ninja. Which is pretty much the key criteria for a great action game.

This is what I see in the game. I really hope I am not imagining it, but I think this game has potential. It seems to me to be cleverly designed and does New Stuff. You can get good at it, and when you do the opportunities for showing off are going to be epic.

Now put the f*cking camera back the way it was supposed to be so I can play it the way it was intended!

Lrn2playnubs!

:0)

(Seriously, am I gonna get banned for saying that? I am quite new here)

(Slightly) More politely - I suggest sticking with it as you are likely still at the Bewilderingly Confusing stage of the learning curve.

Sure the camera cuts down your peripheral vision vision and makes you have to be careful about aiming at stuff when something could be sneaking up in your blind spots. But that is part of what makes it fun! Stay on the move! Drop out of aim to get a better look at what is around you! Switch shoulders for a better view!

I don't like you.

I remember reading an interview back when REmake was released. I think it was with Mikami. He basically said that because video game characters look so real now (back then), they had to hire models, scan their faces and use their likeness in game. Otherwise someone could e.g. sue Capcom, because a character look similar to someone she or he knows.

That can't be true. So if someone looks like Nathan Drake they can sue Sony? Somehow I doubt that.

Any word if a demo is coming to 360 for this? I know RE5 wasn't that well received amongst the purists, but I had a lot of fun with it and would like to try this one out.
