Resident Evil 6 has gone gold

I'm not sure... I have the gold edition and it was included. And I don't know how meaty the DLC is... they (there are two DLC stories) might be really short. So I would hate to cause you to buy something that was overpriced...

Just checked, they're $5 apiece, which isn't terrible. I'll let you know if I decide to get it.

Personally though I've never had issues with the AI partner. I never played on Professional but even on Veteran they held their own and saved my ass on a few occasions.

Having never played a Resident Evil game, but knowing a rough idea of the plot (oh look, zombies, shoot them), what game is RE6 continuing the story from? Is there a wiki article or youtube video I should read/watch to get caught up with before playing RE6?

They constantly get in my way... they do not understand the concept of personal space. Not even like six inch rule. Every couple steps the asshole runs into me or in front of me. I stop to break a couple barrels and the retard runs on top of me, taking up the entire screen, pushing me, and I literally cannot see the items at my feet. I want to break shit when this happens, and it constantly happens.

But I do love RE5. It might actually be my favorite. Sheva was a great character, at least Chris wasn't cheese factory Leon, and Jill (woo hoo) was in the game. Also, I was totally expecting that one military guy to betray Sheva and Chris, but he never did and that was a nice surprise. And even though the story was kinda dumb it wasn't even close to RE4 dumb. And the one control scheme allowed for strafe walking... big improvement.

Here ya go.

Mostly you just have to know that it follows RE5 and we see Leon and where he has ended up since the end of RE4.

RE plots are usually simple even if poorly written so nothing to diffcult, and very enjoyable if you want something to laugh at.

If you have some time, you might wanna look for videos like this:

They play through the game and cut it so that you get to see all the cutscenes/crucial gameplay segments, while the entire video clocks in at no more than 1.5-2 hours.

Ha yeah see that stuff never bothered me. She's an AI so I expected her to walk into my line of fire every now and then. I just used her as a pack mule to carry the shit I didn't feel like carrying, and I always gave her one or two healing items to heal me with so I could focus on the battle at hand.

But I agree, RE5 is a great game. I finished it 4 times I think, and I still have the urge to finish it again.

Agree, RE5 has an odd sense of replay value, not sure why I feel like replaying it over and over.

Well if they can't, Sienna Guillory is the next best choice.
People can shit on the movies all they want, but she pulled the RE3 Jill outfit very well.

I have mixed feelings about this game. RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time, but damn, RE5 was a kick in the nuts for me. I hope it turns out good.

So excited for this game! My brother just preordered it on Amazon.

I'm actually replaying RE5 right now and trying to get the platinum. I forgot how fun the co-op is.

I've loved every previous mainline Resident Evil game, even Resident Evil 5...but I really wasn't feeling the controls from the demo. I'm not sure how to feel about this game. I've always preferred the RE4 style of controls, and I even used the one analog mode in RE5, but their attempt to make it more modern with dual analog was done horribly to me in the demo for RE6.

I think, from playing the demo it is different rather than bad. It isn't just a copy of other TPS games but has its own interesting and entirely functional spin on things.

Now that I have got the hang of it I find myself playing other games and wishing they were more like the RE6 demo.

So I would recommend sticking with it for a bit and trying to figure out how the game works rather than how you expect it to work. And experiment and try things out. There are a lot of moves that are not documented.

But once you get it you are really working that controller and hitting a bunch of buttons in different combinations and holding triggers and moving the sticks and your guy on the screen does a whole bunch of stuff just like you want. Sgood!

(I think my Hottest Tip for someone coming at it fresh would be to realise that the slide/roll move is an integral part of the cover system. If you want to go in to cover, don't walk up to it and then pull LT (and then A if it is a chest high wall). Roll or slide in to it to by pulling and holding LT and then forwards and A!)

Did I mention I liked the demo? Especially the camera the game was supposed to come with?

Saw a newer version of the 360 demo in action today. It's looking better than the DD demo for sure, and the graphical tearing isn't anywhere near as nd prevalent. Hopefully once I get used to the new combat system (it's quite a departure from RE5), I can enjoy the game because I really disliked the demo.

It's hard for me to muster up any excitement for this after the awful demo.

I'm still not even sure if I'll pick this up....might be my first main RE I miss.

Yeah. They need to get review copies in to peoples hands ASAP. I am hoping that once people get to sit down with it for extended periods and really dig in to the mechanics they will come to see in it what I see in it. It is a very different game from RE5 (seriously! Don't go in to it expecting RE5 only now you can move and shoot - this is not that game - it is better!), but as it's own thing it works well. Hopefully very well!

I think it is going to feel weird and clunky at first but will reward practice. And hopefully with what looks to be quite a lot of content, anyone who reviews the game will (have to) have spent enough time with it to, yknow, get the most out of it.

I'll be fascinated to see how the game reviews.

I got so excited for a moment when I saw this cover:

Just Games for Windows!...

...then I saw the LIVE logo on the right side. fml :lol

The game will most likely use the GFWL abomination as most of Capcom PC games(only DMC4 and LP1 didn't use it), but this cover is fake I think since it use the old GFWL cover design.

It's a point worth making. Even though it's still very much the classic third person style shooter that RE4 invented, with RE's survival/horror ideals intact, RE6 is much freer and more versatile than anything yet seen with the exception of Vanquish. If RE4/5 are the precise, methodical, high-stakes technique of Street Fighter, RE6 is more akin to a Marvel game. It's incredibly fast-paced and mobile. The execution and technique the game demands of you is much, much more frenetic and varied than its predecessors. Speed runs and expert play videos of RE6 are going to be nuts.

You say it better than me, but I would swear the game shows the potential to be a really well thought out, interestingly designed game that you can get good at.

Yep, my performance between first playing the demo and now (yes, almost 2 months later I am still playing it) has increased tenfold. At first it was bewilderingly confusing. Now I feel like a BSAA ninja. Which is pretty much the key criteria for a great action game.

So if there's a zombie coming at me, am I still able to put one in his shoulder, run up, and suplex him until his head explodes? Because that is pretty much why RE5 and Mercenaries 3D are some of my favorite games in recent history.

RE5 Jill looks the weirdest imo... though I'm getting used to it now.

Oh? Aside from the hair, more detail and differences in the lighting of their models, they are literally the exact same.

Chris is the one who got butchered in BH5. His first appearance in that teaser trailer was PERFECT. Looked like his appearance in REmake, looked genuinely cool and wasn't a beefcake.

ErikB also really needs to quiet down with his zealot attitude over the old camera.

I do feel I should point out that I seem to have found someone who likes the demo as much as I do (and if the game is well designed rather than thrown together then presumably the camera was as well, and they should not have messed with it at the behest of people who had not yet understood the game).

Vindication!

I like the demo quite a bit. I dislike the camera. Most people will give you some variation of this statement. You running around every single forum you can get into and calling anyone who dislikes the camera "internet pundits" who just don't get it is getting terribly annoying. You make one or two good points but they are drowned out by "YOU JUST DON'T DESERVE IT" logic.

Wrong.

The wiki is primarily bullshit. Incorrect information and outright fabrications. For a plot so simple they make as much a mess of it as the translators of the games do.

Well, you have to start a discussion somewhere.

But seriously, I think the game is well designed. I therefore respect what the designers were trying to do, and as a result, I'd like to experience it the way they intended before changing an element that I may not yet understand the purpose of. I may never like it, but I would like to try it their way first.

You don't start discussion. You spout your opinion and then drown out anything to the contrary, all the while throwing jabs at everyone who disagrees with you in a snide, self-centered attempt to make yourself seem like you "get" something the majority of people don't.

Yeah, but no one listens if you are polite.

I really do like the camera the way it is, and, I dunno, messing with it seems like trying to change something in a (good) Devil May Cry game before you have mastered it. You don't know what it will break!

Looking forward to September 4th, so I can finally check out the demo for myself on PS3. Based on the footage I have seen, I don't think I'll be let down.

1: you haven't played it yet.

2: I feel it is entirely possible everyone else hasn't yet understood the game well enough to know if they are happy with the change.

1) I have played the demo, hated the camera, thought "man, the character is constantly in the way". New camera moves the character out of the way. My complaint directly addressed. Even at that, I would prefer the BH4/BH5 camera. I don't need to get hands-on with a camera. I already know what works and what doesn't.

2) I feel it is entirely possible that you are being a pretentious, single-minded, arrogant nut.

You shouldn't need to make up so many cop-out excuses if your argument was sound. You literally don't seem to be able to comprehend that people can disagree with you, and that is a problem.

Look forward to playing it.

Saying that, each time I see footage of RE6 it gets harder and harder to believe the game started in a silent haunted house.
