Rev controller WTF from Iwata!!!

The games market needs to grow more if its to keep some companies alive.. it's that or they'll all be swallowed up by EA or something. If making a game at the cost of 8 figure numbers and marketing it is still a risk, and they have to convince publishers they can be surefire hits before they get the go ahead, then something is wrong.

Ever considered the growth might be attributable to us being the first true generation of gamers to keep playing? With a group of kids coming up below us doing the same thing? Is that growth sustainable?

Everyone wants Revolution to be Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Utterly pointless.
It can fill another role. One where cheap games with creative ideas can be pushed, because the interface is a new and novel way for people to get to grips with. You'll still get big games with big budgets and big challenge. There will still be games like Zelda on the platform. There'll be the usual franchises and the usual film license tripe. The system will just be a little different as well. God forbid!

As for this games aren't complicated crap... 11 buttons. There are people in this world who can't fathom a DVD remote control... each button labelled to their exact function. You've got gamepads with 11 buttons, some acting as dual-buttons, with varying functions depending on the game. Then you've got analog sticks which act differently in every game as well. Some work relative to the camera -- pushing up makes you go into the distance. Some work differently -- strafing, 2d movement, inverse movement in flight sims etc. Then you ask some gamers to use two of these things at once for movement and camera. The co-ordination task required is easy for many of us, but not for everybody. The attitude here is: oh I can play games, screw anyone who can't.

Maybe the technical specs are low because the controller is going to cost a lot to produce. If that happens you can hardly blame them for having a weaker system. If it is Revolutionary one would assume the controller is going to cost more than the cheap bits of plastic found in x360 and ps3.
I can remember Miyamoto calling the Revolution controller a "big investment".

That could've meant many things though.

Couldn't agree more :)

Not screw anyone who can't. Just don't give a fuck about 'em, because I can play games. Therefore the games they would want aren't the games I want. So why would I can give a fuck?

I'm glad someone would try a bit harder to make games for 'em, but you can't expect anyone like me to actually care.

Just because you like complicated games doesn't mean you can't enjoy simple games. I love complicated games, but I also love Tetris and the original Mario and Sonic games, those were games with a fairly simple interface.

Of course. The implication is not that simple games aren't fun, it's that I don't give a fuck if these 'ultra-casuals' can't understand the controls. Let someone make games for them, but I certainly won't be caring about it. The only time it'd piss me off is if simplicity masks lack of depth, or ruins what would otherwise be fully featured titles from Nintendo. Which hasn't happened, so I don't care.

I want complicated games. And since I only care about what I want for gaming, fuck 'em. It doesn't benefit me that ultra-casuals get Nintendogs REV edition with GYRO CONTROLS and Animal Crossing Deluxe with TEN THOUSAND NEW COLLECTABLE ITEMS made for them. Good that they get games they enjoy. But I'll wait for games I enjoy.

P.S. Puzzle games like tetris are great. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Tetris Attack are my loves.

I´ve been thinking about the simple games by Nintendo and I believe that we can have 2 series of games:

1. Simple games.

2. Normal games.

The simple games could be downloable flash-style games for the console.

I guess you could say Brain Training games are simple games. They are half the price of normal games.

Here's everyone's answer...

gamespot interview/article with Mr. Miyamoto said:
Unsurprisingly, the Donkey Kong creator didn't go into much more detail. "The Revolution will have an interesting interface. We're investing a lot of money into the [development of the] interface, and it's still not finalized," said Miyamoto.

Maybe a feedback one-color touch screen (like the black/blue Russian deal), like I suggested in my previous post, isn't out of the question?

Nintendo sure have the world wondering what they are up to.

The revolution will be the most important console launch for nintendo since the NES, the NES wasnt expected to take the market by storm and neither is the revolution....
