Right now, the PS5 Pro is the best selling console on Amazon

The Regular PS5 likely won't outsell the 4 never mind the Pro model's. What makes you think it will?

Plenty of reasons it can…

- GTA 6 will be bigger than any PS4 game, Sony have the marketing deal too

- Price drop will likely come after the GTA6 sales bump

- PS6 is rumoured to be coming 2028, that gives PS5 a whole extra year

- Their competitor, Xbox, is throwing the damn towel

5 is behind the 4 in sales just now no?

Lots of reasons I think the Pro wont do more.

For starters almost every game this time around that benefits a Pro upgrade is also available on PC. Its the main reason I'm not getting one.

It Is double the price of the regular DE here in the UK.

There's no drive with it as standard, I think this is a mistake, I'd rather have 1gb of storage less and a physical drive.

There is no "killer app" to show off just what it can do. The jump to 4k could be seen easily with the Pro 4 , with the 5 to the layman in a shop the upgrades are likely less noticeable this time around.

I'll probably still get one down the line and if you only mainly game on PlayStation, for us nerds its a no brainer to get one. For everyone else not so much.

We'll see. Fair play if it does 20 million+ I'm all for consoles upping their game next gen. If the 6 cost $1k but was a a beast then i'd be happy

The 4 Pro was also the best place to play GTA5 on consoles no?

It was on PC by then though, which took the shine off.

No PlayStation and PC aren’t direct competitors, but a part of the market does weigh up weather to go console or PC.
That's one of my points. Most stuff that's getting an upgrade this time around is also available on PC.

What isn't? Spiderman 2 GT7 and Astro bot? Probably a couple more that haven't come to mind as well.

And AB is just fine on the base console. Be nice if they could get a meaty upgrade going on that title to show off the Pro.

Like I said earlier i game on PC mainly these days, but have a PS5 for exclusives or COD with my old group from time to time. I'm a sucker for new tech and I'm struggling to find a reason to upgrade. I will eventually maybe for DS2 or Ghosts, but as it stands there's nothing except the lure of shiny new thing to entice me.

Obviously if i was a PS main then i'd be all over it.

So why didn't the new Xbox Series consoles jump up the chart when they released this year?

Do you have the equivalent Amazon screenshots from the pre-order/release day? I don't know what the effect was on that day and you've not provided anything to comment on.

Even so, that isn't an Xbox Pro. It's a storage upgrade, which isn't a reason for anyone to replace their existing console. I actually forgot that happened.

Even with the price point, I don't think this is surprising. It's a new, fancy thing in a market that embraces new, fancy things. People complained about price, sure, but people will always complain about price.
Everyone, including me, that complained about the price:

Exactly so stop trying to downplay PS5 Pro being the top selling console right now. The new Xbox Series consoles release In a few days but they are nowhere to be seen while the PS5 Pro that releases next month is at the top for now.

It is also stupidly priced at $599. Seriously who's buying that over a Pro? It's like MS are trying to kill xbox if i didn't know better.

it’s apparently had just over 10k preorders on Amazon US In 36+ hours, and still remains in stock. I believe it was around 8k when I bought mine on Thursday.

I suspect the price is way more of an obstacle than many think.

Two different ecosystems. Not much different from someone buying a regular Series X and adding a 1TB expansion card that usually costs $139.

It has never made sense to compare the 2TB Xbox to the Pro. Nobody’s cross-shopping these. The real competitor to the Pro is the base PS5 which will is already seeing holiday pricing deals at around $449.

Thats the conversation mainstream buyers will be having this holiday.

The conversation mainstream buyers will be having this holiday is whether to get a 5 digital edition for £339 or a Disk version for £429. Mainstream buyers won't be considering a Pro.

The Xbox is dead in the water at this point as much as that pains me to say.

A natural consequence of one too many boneheaded decisions at MS, plus the fact that Spencer should have stepped aside ages ago.

Mainstream isn't considering a Pro at that price. At least I don't think so.

If it does do gang busters then say hello to $1K+ next gen.

Pack it in mate. You've missed the point and you didn't back what you asked me to comment on. Throwing attempted gotchas at me tells me you're at best misunderstanding and at worst one of the fanboys/console warriors I'm on about. The only correction I need to make is that the first tweet, that I didn't see because mobile/tracker blocking/Twitter shenanigans, didn't mention Xbox at all. So the blame doesn't lie with the tweets, it lies with OP.

PS5 Pro selling well isn't a reflection of Xbox's poor position in the market. It's solely about PS5 Pro being desirable (like most new hardware is). If an Xbox Pro failed to beat PS5 or even base Series X, that would be relevant because it would be indicative of low interest.

I'll spell it out in simple terms.
Fact: PS5 Pro outsold PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X & Nintendo Switch because it outsold everything
Fact: OP's source is tweets saying PS5 Pro is #1 and do not mention Xbox
OP: PS5 PRO OUTSELLS XBOX

OP cherrypicked what to mention PS5 Pro outsold.

Your original post said I don't like the news. This isn't news, it's taking news (predictable news, but news all the same) and framing it in such a way that only serves to feed a childish console war.

Perhaps ‘mainstream’ was the wrong term to use. Holiday buyers would be more appropriate.

Most of the remaining customer base would be the mainstream audience anyway.

Not at that price It won’t.
PlayStation has a $200 controller selling like hotcakes & you think this $699 Pro isn't going to outsell the PS4 Pro?

Only thing that could stop it from outselling PS4 Pro is if Xbox Next is way better at a cheaper price.

For now it's the "It!" Item in gaming until Switch 2 & the biggest game of the generation is coming in the next year.

Its not the "it" item outside of nerd circles like ours, and even then i wouldn't consider it as such myself. It would have sold out if so.

I'll ask again seen as you ignored my post. Why do you think it will outsell the 4 Pro?

Also is this the controller you are referring to when "selling like hot cakes"? It had a good year last year but doesnt seem to be doing too hot right now if so.

The Dualsense Edge topped accessory charts on release for revenue. Not unit sales.

At that price point, the possibility of it selling anywhere near the PS4 Pro seems remote.

What will keep it from outselling the Pro is the price tag. Nothing to do with Xbox.

Sales don’t seem to back up the idea that it’s the ‘it!’ Item in gaming, and the biggest game of the generation will play just fine on its biggest competitor - the PS5 Slim.

Two things can be true at the same time.

It’s selling quite decently, just not going to set the world alight in volume. Primarily due to the price.

It’s also going to outsell most other things in this window because it’s new.

Again, this is probably by design. Sony knew what they were doing with the $700 price tag and will reap profits from hardware.

People keep mentioning GTA like its going to shift 50 million consoles. If it does then there are what at least 6 or 7 SKU's to choose from as things stand? Across 2 brands. I highly doubt the majority of new console customers to the gen will pick one that costs around $800-900 dollars ( console , drive, game, ps+ for a year) just to play one game.

Most will opt for the base PS5. Maybe some folks will go Pro but if its 60fps, which going by Rockstars track record it wont be until PC or next gen.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Pre orders just took place on Amazon yesterday. Of course it’s a top seller. But Twitter warriors like Zuby obviously ignore context.
Ok....but ppl have to actually place an order tho.

Cant believe some ppl are feeling some type of way about this. But I'm not surprised....

Nobody said it was DOA. Stop making shit up
Just searching this thread:

People complained about the price of PSVR2, and it had pretty decent sales at launch.

And yet…

A $700 hardware sells better than a $250 hardware, which offers Call of Duty for free through a subscription service. That is quite a difference, don't you think?

“$700 hardware outselling the $299 Switch which has a massive library of games. That is quite the difference, don’t you think?”

I stand corrected lol.

To be fair though, when they suggest DOA, they can't mean Concord levels of DOA. Lets see how many this thing sells this Q. before we decide if its sold well or not.

Certainly interested myself to see how it does at this price point. Day one pre-orders doesn't mean much either way right now.

The thread title is made up console wars bullshit anways and you could make whatever you want with the Amazon charts.

I could make a thread "7 years old Minecraft and even 1,5 years old Final Fantasy XVI outsell PS5 Pro on Amazon.fr!".
Never trust the French mate, especially when we are in a (console) war.

Its not, well not in the UK anyways like the OP says.

Yeah. We should be waiting for q4 sales before leaning either way really.

If ita still up for pre order at stores when there's comments of like 5 units per store...we really need concrete data.

over 10k at Amazon US in a single day.
For reference a full month of PS5 sales on Amazon can be close to 20k for all SKUs combined.
