Rocksmith 2014 |OT| - Everything is improved, except the OT.

I think that problem is more on your end than anything. I can play in Drop C or C standard just fine for the most part. Some dropped notes here and there in some songs, but nothing awful. I even played a song in Drop B just fine (apart from my strings being super loose because they are not thick enough :p).

Maybe your guitar is just really sensitive and it throws the intonation off when you go any lower than E standard?

Agreed, if you have trouble playing songs in Drop D it's not the game's fault

Yeah, it might be my guitar, maybe I should get it tuned by a specialist for intonation and what not. I don't have any problem with Standard tuning at all though. Or maybe I should try fatter strings once my current ones snap.

whoop whoop

Hope it's pre-Superunknown heavy

Quite a difficult pack to predict in its entirety, but i'd put money on Spoonman, Black Hole Sun and a token Upside single like Pretty Noose taking the place of something I want to play much more like Let Me Drown or Mailman.

Black Hole Sun seems like a guaranteed song in that pack at least. Wouldn't mind getting Spoonman too since I remember the custom for the first game was pretty fun.

Missed the sunday, but here's my update for the week.

Currenty we're on week 2 of Rocksmith. I made some progress on the same songs I was working on already. I have now "mastered" Blitzkrieg Bop. The game is suddenly a bit too lenient. I'm not strumming enough and sometimes when I do strum it sounds kinda bad. Rocksmith is OK with it though. So I'm trying to work on those power chords out of the game and I feel like I'm geting better.

R U Mine? is up to 95%, but that definitely shouldnt be that high. This is a very weird song I think. Some bits, like the the slide from 2nd to 14th fret just feel kind of random. And that makes it hard to nail. Im pretty good with the riff on the 7th and 9th fret, but I feel like the action on that part of my guitar is a bit high. Dunno.

I picked up a dlc song What I Got and nailed the solo straight away. Although RSs tab is a bit different from I was practising before, I managed to adjust and get it in a couple of tries. The arpeggio style bits with the chords are still a bit difficult, but I'll get it soon enough.

Also almost quadrupled my score in Ducks and String Skip Saloon. Im interested - what are you guys' highscores in those? Im up to 10 000 000 in ducks now. Those definitely help, havent checked out many of the others yet.

Back to the mill / Keep on rocking!

Yup.

Pretty good pack overall though, glad to see Jesus Christ Pose & Black Days.

I like Pretty Noose actually, but if strings are getting tuned to C, I would rather be trying Superunknown...

Am I right in believing PSN/PS4 EU is actually supposed to be getting this pack on time?

Nope, February

Actually maybe you'll get it tomorrow...

Yep - that schedule makes absolutely no sense though. The PS3, that went for months with no problems on the DLC front, is getting absolutely shafted. Randomly, next weeks DLC is delayed on PS4. Then in Feb they're going to flood the store with DLC?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Also, no mention of the legacy DLC and import tool.

Jesus Christ Pose brings back some bad memories from trying to play the drums on expert in Rock Band. I could play most songs I owned just fine (and I had like 500 songs), but that one just fucked me over completely.

EU PS4 players -

Soundgarden and Linkin Park packs are live, as are some other new tracks including the killers and libertines.

But don't get too excited, only 20 or so legacy tracks are added and we still haven't broken the 200 track barrier.

What's with the expansion spot on the store page?

They said they had it if they ever wanted to release some bigger DLC, but that they had nothing planned. Just so they had the functionality in case they ever needed it.

Remember hearing something like that in a stream/video way back.

Does anyone know, if I set up a US account on my (UK) PS4, then purchase DLC via the US account - will it work if i'm logged into my usual EU-based PSN?

I ask because this would be cheaper and I wouldn't have to worry about SCEE's uselessness.

As long as the PS4 is set as your primary console all DLC bought on any account should work with any profile.

I don't own a PS4 myself, but I'm 95% sure it's like this since I heard it's the same as 360 had and that's how it worked there. The DLC won't work on any other console unless you use the US profile though.

Yeah I do find the note/strum detection to be very arbitrary in what it finds acceptable. Sometimes I'm aware that my strumming is bad or I'm dropping notes and the game just glosses over it. It sometimes feels like I'm just developing bad technique as a result. I stopped playing it because of this and just decided to practice outside the game on my own free time using mysongbook instead of using riff repeater which is really annoying cause I gotta wait for it to rewind... Rewind.... Rewind... Just so I can study specific sections or chords. I might revisit the game later on for some of the mini games though

I've been playing for a few days. I find that the game can detect single notes/picking just fine, and is even somewhat forgiving. It is however pretty wonky when it comes to recognizing chords even after suggested tweaks and calibrations.

Been waiting weeks for the cable to come back in stock.. still can't play this game. Really annoying. I don't see why I should have to buy the old version at £30 just to get it.

edit. WOW Amazon are going to have some stock on Saturday allegedly.

It really is just song learning tool, not a guitar learning tool. I barely rake notice of their percentages and what not. I'd much prefer seeing the actual note names instead.

Man, my fingers hate me right now. Just spent about 2 hours practicing different parts of the solo in Fade to Black. Made some nice progress, especially on this part:
http://a.pomf.se/wumydm.webm

The game has a hard time registering those fast bends, so it pretty much always gives me a miss on them. It's gonna take a lot of work to get it up to full speed, I am not great with faster solo stuff and especially that pattern at 10 seconds.

Great job, sir!

And man, that looks like a lot of fun!

Yeah, true dat. I guess I picked it up cause at the time, I was making pretty decent headway on returning back to playing guitar and wanted to maintain the momentum by supplementing my practice with something entertaining. Thankfully, I've remained very, very consistent with my practice over the last 3.5 months and derive a lot of satisfaction just from making small progress through riffs, licks, progressions etc. that I struggled with in the past. I'm nowhere near good yet, but I can actually feel things coming together in a way that they never did in the past. I may revisit Rocksmith in the coming months once I've got a couple of my favorite songs under my belt.

Brand New Kind of Blue is just a lot of fun to play. It's my go-to warmup song.

I found my Rocksmith cable so now I feel like I have to play all of the Disturbed pack that I bought for whatever reason.

MUnited83

For you.
Hey guys, I'm looking into getting into Rocksmith, recently bought a electric guitar. I'm about to order a real tone cable, but I'd like to if the cable is only usable in-game or if it can be used to record with audio programs and the like?
