Shiiiit...I know it will be mixed like the first or possibly even lower, but I just don't give a damn!

I'm so hyped for this movie, I'll beat all your mothers just for a chance to see it on IMAX.

I don't understand. Do you hate transformers, or something?

Saw it yesterday, pretty much agree with the comments in the OP

Proper spoilers inside...
All imo - it's pretty boring in places, Sam's parents carry the first half of the film, too much stupid romance "say i love you" "no you first" shit, dogs humping, Devastator is criminally underused - he basically opens the top of a pyramid and gets shot down by the humans with some new advanced ray gun thing oh and shows us his testicles.. Optimus combining should have been great but I thought the ending was a letdown

On the positives, Sam's mum was funny in parts and even came across as a little milfy at times :P
"Professor, I'll do anything for an A"
, and I liked Jetfire much more than i thought I would! Oh the tazer-ing in the museum was funny too.

I should say I didnt really like the first one, I feel ROTF is more of the same. However, if you did like the first one I think you'll have a blast with the movie.

I'll be going to the CGV Yongsan IMAX next weekend with my girlfriend to see this. I thought the first movie was alright, but it was her suggestion so I'm cool.

I hate how Bay exploits 9/11 imagery all the time. Wait, what? What the fuck? :lol

This movie will be a huge success money-wise, critics will cry because the unwashed masses and zit facces don´t listen to their superiour opinion, Transformers 3 will be even longer, louder and they will rate it even worse.

Can´t wait for this movie <3

There you have it. More money = Better than. It's Worthington's Law.

Actually more money=many people paid to see this, often telling others to see it and the studio laughing all the way to the bank while the critics gnash their teeth because nobody listens to them ;_;

Like they and the haters are actually irrelevant, but that can´t be! They´re superior specimens, after all.

I already posted in the speculation thread but I saw it last night and wasn't impressed. And this is coming from a massive Transformers fan and someone who enjoys the first one as a guilty pleasure.

Just way too bloated and boring with a ton of lame comic relief. Stuff like the final battle is epic and impressive CG-wise, but it still managed to bore me.

It's Bad Boys 2 with robots, love it.

And when critics use "videogamers" "zit faced" etc to trash a movie, they lose all credibility and should go fuck themselves, maybe while facing a mirror.

IMAX tickets are already bought for midnight showing Tuesday Night. I enjoyed the first one and always thought it was funny how people would defend the 84 movie being better than the bayformer version.

I mean what always gets me is that damn near every transformers I loved was killed in the first 10 minutes and replaced by tards...

Orson Welles > Michael Bay or anyone else in the movie.

Your logic makes no sense.

There are more 'morons' in the world than there are 'superior specimens'.

If a movie caters to these morons, then shouldn't there be a large audience for it out there?

Transformers 2 exists for one reason alone: there are a ton of people out there willing to pay money to see it.

"Dumb" movies are always more successful than "good" movies.

'High School Musical' movies, for instance, make a shit load of money. That doesn't mean the people who hate on them are wrong in their opinion.

The majority isn't always right. In fact, a lot of the time, it's wrong.

Saw it last night, and it rocked.

The cheesy parts were cheesier then T1 (this one did actually make me cringe in parts), but the funny bits were funnier, and the action was stronger. There were a few bits of CGI i didnt think were as good but overall the CGI destroyed the first flick.

Also, lots of Megan Fox running in slow motion.

So let me get this straight. You cannot possibly like this movie unless you're a zit faced video gamer? And you cannot like video games unless your a zit faced nerd?

Well, I know one thing, I will never care about this critics opinion on anything ever, whether the movie is bad or not. What an idiot.

You'll find that GAF has a higher love-hate ratio for the first film than most places, even on the internet.

What I meant is that here on GAF there seems to be a very vocal minority who hate the new movies because
they're a bunch of manbabies drowning in childhood nostalgia
they have managed convinced themselves that the original Transformers movie was some tour de force in cinematic storytelling and that the new ones are just spank fodder for the autistic, brainwashed masses.

I never really understood RT, I mean, arent these just a bunch of wanna-be critic snobs and fanboys who think their opinion counts?

I'm sure if the reviewer had to grade the original 1986 cheese-fest, he'd probably rank it even lower.

I just think the guy was bored with it.

I did like this review, though.

I thought RT was a consolidation of every review nation wide from various publications and media outlets... and their combined score (or moaning) went into the Tomatometer? I had no idea they let anyone's review contribute to it (fanboys and wanna-be-critics included).

But I could be wrong.

I didn't care for the first TF, but I had high hopes for this.
Now, I'm not sure I want to go to the Tuesday midnight viewing, or bother going to the movies to see it :(

And those twins... I haven't seen them yet and they make me cringe already! Here's hoping for some more "What's crackin, bitches" quotables!

EDIT: Perhaps the twins aren't so bad. I'll hold judgment until I see the actual movie. I guess I'll see it Wendesday... watching a 2 1/2 hour movie at midnight makes it hard to wake up at 5:30am

If you have an IMAX theatre in your area, GO SEE IT THERE.

Certain scenes were actually shot with IMAX film and this is only the 2nd feature film to do this after The Dark Knight. The IMAX shots will blow your mind, guaranteed.
If it's a real IMAX anyway.

40% now...seems like this ended up being quite the shitty summer for movies.

There is an unquestionable amount of shit in theaters at the moment.

It seems like the only decent popcorn flicks so far this season have been 'Star Trek', 'Drag Me To Hell', and 'Up'(though, I'm hesitant to call that a popcorn flick).

Off to see this in about an hour. Cannot wait. :D

Also this obsession with what films 'score' and their percentage 'marks' on Rotten Tomatoes in EVERY single film release thread is hilariously pathetic. Make your own decisions about whether a movie is good or not. :lol

There is nothing - nothing - in Bay's film that can be taken seriously - although that becomes something of a problem in itself, given Bay's relentless exploitation of imagery from 9/11 and the Second Gulf War...

Bay was using that precise type of imagery before either 9/11 or Gulf War II, so this criticism is biting but false.

As long as there is more action and less talking, teen bullshit and shitty bay humour I'll be happy.
I think there is more action, more talking, more teen bullshit, and more shitty Bay humour :P It's the same formula, just the movie is longer - so you'll get the extra action but with more of the other stuff thrown in too.

The laws of 'Bay-balance' must be preserved.

Ugh...maybe I'll wait for it on dvd then. Seriously, I fucking hated any scene that wasn't Megan fox or fighting. Oh haha optimus is sneaking around a house! Yeah...no.

Yeah i know what you mean. You'll probably cringe at a lot of it, but you should go and see it anyway. I think there's probably enough action to just about make it worthwhile, and dont let me put you off :)

Star Trek a popcorn flick? Thats kind of an understatement.

Saw it last night.

I went in with no expectations and it satisfied me. The story was a bit converluted but I just thought what they hey and went along with it. Sam's parents were good comic relief for the most part. The action in the first half of the film is better than that of the second half which made me go WTF. Very anticlimactic.
The fight in the forest is much better than the last 20 minutes ruins fight.

The robot fight scenes were amazing. One in particular
Bumblebee grabs the big cat Decepticon by the tail then just shreds all it's body off by raking up his spine with his hand
made me laugh "daaaaamn!"

The amount of Megan Fox voyeur shots was disgusting :lol

Shia was alright. Megan Fox can't act. Isabel Lucas was hotter by miles but for some reason they turned her orange.
The scene where her metal tail comes out/arse shot was freaky!
Best cast member was Sam's mom. She was great at the beginning of the movie.

So is the latter half as bad as in the first movie? Do the robots actually fight?

Mostly humans (see how awesome the US Army are, THANKS AWACS PERSON) v robots

OMFG not again...

Somebody needs to stop Bay before he has the US Army kill
Unicron
in the next film.

I just got back from seeing this and though it was FUCKING AWESOME :D
Seriously this is exactly what I want from a summer blockbuster movie.

I'll preface this by saying that when I saw the original Transformers trailer I was pumped. Even though I know/care little for the franchise, I'm a sucker for big monsters/robots engaging in epic rucks and seriously fucking shit up. Then I saw the movie and it was a colossus letdown. Not enough robots, and when they were fighting I had no idea what the fuck was going on.
If you want to see robots fucking shit up this movie delivers.

When I got to the theatre I was a little worried because it was packed with kids and teenagers, and since it’s a 2 ½ hour long movie, I was worried that they’d loose interest and start hollering and pissing around. One of the biggest compliments I can give the movie is that it kept the entire theatre, including myself, entertained for it’s entire duration. Everyone was laughing and cheering and there was one kid behind me that said ‘whoa’ in quiet disbelief at least 10 times during the movie. Several times during the movie I thought ‘goddamn I wish I was 10 years old again like that kid behind me because he is creaming his goddamn pants.’

Don’t get me wrong the movie is far from the perfect summer blockbuster. Unlike the critics I don’t think it was too long, the 2 ½ hours zipped by and as far as I could tell everyone was entertained for the entire movie. The movie however was a little too cheesy in parts. I don’t mind cheese in my summer blockbusters, but the whole ‘you say I love you first’ thing was definitely grating (excuse the pun.)
Also if you were hoping/expecting a ‘serious’ Transformers movie you will probably be disappointed (although if you’re expecting a movie about toy robots to be serious then you’re a moron imo.) The over reliance on humour in the first movie is still prevalent here, however this time some of the gags actually deliver. It’s pure toilet humour, and most of it will only be funny for the most immature of minds, although I must admit one or two of the gags did actually make my smirk/quietly chuckle to myself in shame, and one or two even made me lol.

The good news is that this ‘humour’ is balanced beautifully with seriously awesome action. The fights are so much better this time around. They are spectacular, finely choreographed, and are actually injected with emotion. I could see exactly what was going on and actually cared about who was winning/loosing (in the first movie the action just kind of washed over me.) I had a grin on my face for most, if not all, of the action parts.
They also successfully managed to inject both the Autobots and the Decepticons with character. Much more screen time is spent on fleshing out the main players, and I actually felt a little invested in certain Transformers-which is a big deal considering I don’t really know anything about the franchise. I heard one kid even tearing up during a certain scene.
It’s true that most of the robots are simply there to provide action set pieces, but considering they had such an enormous cast of both human and robot characters, I think they did a good job of making you actually care about the important robots.

Overall I’d say this is a brilliant summer blockbuster. Star Trek may have been better written and acted, but Transformers 2 was simply more fun for me personally and therefore probably the best movie I’ve seen this summer (it shits all over Wolverine and T4.) I’d even go so far as to say it’s the best summer blockbuster that I’ve seen in years (not including TDK because that felt more like a crime drama than a huge summer blockbuster kind of movie).

I’ll end by saying that on the way out I turned around and looked at the little 10 year old boy that had been sitting behind me with his Dad. His face looked like how I imagine I would look after being locked in a room with a naked Megan Fox for three hours. If he’d actually had semen in his ballsack I’m pretty sure this movie would have caused him to jizz in his pants.

And this is the big one.

The main villian of the film isn't really Megatron. He is actually a lackey to his mentor THE FALLEN. And yes he is 100% loyal with basically no trace of treachery toward this FALLEN guy.

B:(

This is accurate to what the character should be, actually. After all,
The Fallen is basically the god of Decepticons, so it makes sense that Megatron would follow him. Megatron patterns his beliefs after him.
