Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FF VII Remake Part 3 for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel FF VII Remake/Rebirth for Xbox or you can kiss your business goodbye.

History has shown it isn't going to move many units at all but I'm sure MS will have SE try to throw it on GP anyway.
If Xbox wants SE to port games for Xbox than they have stop with nonsense with Xbox Series S priorities that it must be ported on Series S.
SE will not port AAA games until MS give up this policy.

If they get Remake and Rebirth on Switch 2 and the Xbox before Part 3 releases, then it's becoming more and more likely that Part 3 will be a D1 multi-plat release, which is what they'll need to do to maximise sales potential.

This makes absolutely no sense and is hyperbole, with trust me bro I'm an expert vibes.

As it should. Happy about the simultaneous Switch 2 releases as well.

Hopefully 3RD part releases on all four platforms day one.

It's an old GAF meme originating when FFXIII was announced as coming to Xbox 360.

A day 1 on Gamepass deal I suspect is the obvious thing, no? That might offset the cost of likely low sales due to being ported after all these years (besides the fact the franchise hasn't been very popular on Xbox)

I'm not very optimistic on how FF7:Rebirth is going to look like in performance mode on Series S, though.

How hard is it to port from PC to Xbox?

I reckon it's a lot easier if the game already has a win GDK version, but still the ff7 remake games use unreal which is a highly portable and cross-platform engine.

I think they missed the mark already. Intergrade was a good opportunity to release on Xbox as well, and the additions would justify the RRP of a new game. Now Square will surely charge 70 again, but it will sell less than it would 4 years ago.

I bet porting will be more expensive than sales figures on Xbox. SE won't port it or risk their money.
To prove your point
According to estimates shared by the Chinese outlet GameLook, based on Marvel Rivals' current performance and comparisons to other multiplayer shooters' disclosed revenue data and official financial reports, the game has earned approximately 400 million yuan ($54.5 million) on Steam, more than 200 million yuan ($27.3 million) on PlayStation, and around 20 million yuan ($2.7 million) on Xbox.
And that is a free hot game, not a very late port of a SP title. Plus I would love to see how they will cram already struggling Rebirth into SX lol (same goes for FF XVI).

Wow that's crazy how far behind Xbox is. I guess not surprising though. It hurts Xbox though because the less money their users spend on games like this, the less money Xbox makes from running their store.

I'm really interested to see how the ports for FF16 and Rebirth run on the Series S. I think this is going to be their biggest issue and while the CEO is out there screaming about going multiplat more it's the devs who have to actually do the work. I'm not sure the CEO understands how much work that is going to be.

Microsoft definitely has to be subsidizing this. It's great that these will come to Xbox but they better find a way to market the releases to drum up interest.

After replaying (and loving) FF VIII recently, I am now playing FF VII for the first time. And I am absolutely baffled at how this game got this reputation. It has to be the most overrated JRPG ever. It is mediocre beyond belief, has an absolutely absurd story and successions of places you visit, combat is as brain dead as it gets, and it is filled with the worst mini-games I have ever seen. Even music is seriously disappointing, quality is incredibly bad and only a few themes stick out, with many being forgettable, and some unbearable.

Clearly, this was baby's first JRPG for a ton of people. FF VIII simply destroys it on every aspect, while being itself simply a good game (with many issues), not even great.

Seeing how the story unfolds in FF VII, I bet that a ton of situations must feel incredibly weird and ridiculous in a more realistic remake.
