Rumor: Resident Evil 1 Remake coming in 2026

The best thing that Capcom could possibly do is make Resident Evil 4: Part 2.

Re4's location, characters, guns, and monsters are the best in the series and so they might as well just milk that the way Square milked FFX and FFXIII.

They sort of already did and even more so in RE4R than in original game.

Obviously it's not as substantial as the main game in terms of how long it is, but still more RE4

Day 1 for me. I'm huge RE nerd, but at this point, I never want to see another door opening transition screen for the rest of my life. I've enjoyed the remakes.

I'm still waiting for code veronica, it's about time they announce that. It should have been released before 4 already, but these morons went straight for RE4.

As much as I want a Code Veronica Remake, I'm okay with this too since this will introduce people to a young Chris and Wesker which would get them used to them when they appear in the eventual Code Veronica Remake. They have officially announced there would be more RE remakes since they are most likely working on RE0, RE1, and CV R, and RE5. With RE1 R or 0 R coming out first

REmake is a 10/10 for me based on my last playthrough. Game is phenomenal and so fucking atmospheric.

I'd still play this, whatever. The remakes have been better than the main games in my opinion so I'll take it.

It makes sense. You have 2 and 3 already out in the new engine.

I would like them to eventually do a classic collection with some QoL improvements.

If the Tomb Raider 1-3 sold good enough to warrant another release with 4-6, I would have to imagine an RE collection with 1-3 would also sell.

RE Remake HD Remaster is still my favorite RE
I wouldn't mind a MGS3 Delta approach.

Original fixed camera option, modern TPS mode option, and option for original voices and cringe dialogue/delivery.

But capcom will likely just RE4 remake style it and I'll day one play it 3+ times all the way through idgaf.

I just want a new RE game already to play.

It doesn't need to be remade

Should have remade Code Veronica
RE Remake is still the best RE game along with the OG RE2.

Although I'm still looking forward to a RE1 RE Remake simply because of the newer tech which could allow them to make Hunters and zombies chase us across multiple rooms or a Lisa Stalker that's more advanced and dynamic compared to the OG. Being able to move and shoot and connect with the feel and tone of the otter remakes. And more importantly one last chance to make a true ending where we could see Rebecca, Barry, Jill, and Chris all escaping together at the chopper.

I understand that it feels weird because we already have an RE Remake, but the fact that it isn't over-the-shoulder says a lot. I've wanted this for so long, and I still do. I hope it does indeed happen, and I hope it's sooner than later. I'd really love the return to form as I feel like the RE series has lost me more and more with how ridiculous the story has gotten.

I wouldn't mind that but RE Remake is perfect the way it is

And yeah just make a new RE already Capcom. BTW Resident Evil VIII is my second favorite in the series. When I played it I was shocked by how good it is since I usually don't play lot of first person shooters. I didn't like RE VII as much due to the first person perspective but RE VIII is what changed my mind

Can't believe they went this far

Went far with what?

RE Remake is still the best RE game along with the OG RE2.

I wish that they would re-release the OG RE2 with the option of using a different control style than tank controls. I can't play with tank controls, it mades me drop RE2 and RE3

I love RE 2 Remake and RE 3 Remake but as I said before RE doesn't need another Remake since it already has one and it still looks and controls great. If they would do another Remake, Remake Code Veronica

Those Hunter enemies at the last half of the game were a PAIN though

In all seriousness, the FMV actors from the PS1 Resident Evil would almost certainly have no idea whether this exists or not.
They probably wouldn't, but she's the voice actress for Jill in the RE 3 remake, so she'd probably know if they're making one for RE 1.

It's honestly crazy how long people looked for her and she just waited for them to find her before she leaned into it.

EDIT: I thought it was the real life model
The original live action actress was prepared to give an interview a year or two ago, but ended up backing out due to privacy concerns.

Same, had fun with the recent remakes 2, 3, and 4 compared to 7 and Village. Although I still have hope that RE9 could be much better.

I want 1 remade like 2/3. Give me modern camera and controls.
Being able to move and shoot with the OTS would be a good improvement for sure. I like the slower pace where you slowly discover more and more areas with backtracking so more RE game like that would be welcomed which another RE1 Remake could bring. Really hope we'll get some true ending with Rebecca, Barry, Chris, and Jill all together. Unless of course they change the story a little with Rebecca escaping with Billy instead in the RE0 Remake.

Now that Monster Hunter WIlds is behind them, I expect Capcom to be announcing new Resident Evil game(s) fairly soon. Probably summer at the latest. We know they've been working on RE9 for awhile, and another remake.

Hownmany times they need to remake this game ? I don't see the obvious reasons behind it
The reason is to bring it up to the modern standards and in line with the rest of the remakes, remove all stupid camp, terrible dialogue and writing, improve gameplay, change some things, add some things etc. There's also a business side to this, which is that when they finally do it, they can sell modern collection with all mainline games in one box, which they can't do right now properly cuz there's no modern RE1R.

Does Delta have an option for the original locked camera angles? That's surprising.

Yep. Has original and new third person.

I'm curious if you can swap on the fly or if it fixed based off your choice at the start.

Would be cool to do two runs from each perspective,

When you say "new" third person you mean Subsistence style right? Or have they redone the camera system again?

As far I'm concern, they can remake 1 and 2 over and over again. Everything else is crap or mediocre at best.
Yeah I would take a new RE2 remake that actually did the split campaign story justice like the original. The remake was really disappointing with how they handled the Leon/Jill scenarios. The most interesting thing about the first two RE games is the differences that playing as different characters introduces to the game.
