Rumour: Microsoft intends to launch the Xbox Series X before the PS5 by any means, even if the launch games are affected

It is , after that show it's MS turn.

Microsoft has to match or surpass whatever Sony is doing on Thursday. They can't afford another event like the last one they had. They really need to prove to the masses that their console is a better option than Sonys with the hardware and the software.

There's very few arguments to respond to, when the posts consist of nonsense such as "they don't care about games", "historically they haven't produced great games", "they don't focus on games" and stuff like that.

You can try and paint it whichever way you want, but it's obvious for most what it really is - good old fashioned concern trolling. I suspect there is a reason why you tried to shift focus to pre-order numbers, all of the sudden.

No new AAA ip in over 4 years isn't concern trolling, it's a fact.

Releasing a slew of games which bomb at retail isn't concern trolling, it's a fact.

Zero GOTY contenders in how many years? isn't concern trolling, it's a fact.

Not having any traction, mindshare, momentum, market share outside of the US isn't concern trolling, it's a fact.

Making up new measurements of success to spin out the collapse in XBOX quarterly financial reports isn't concern trolling, it's a fact.

Constant "Phil Spencer Said" PR but when it comes time to show and prove we're told to "wait till >insert the next gaming event here<" isn't concern trolling is a persistent fact.

I realize we can't have a conversation because your default position is defensive so I'm not really interested in carrying it beyond this post. I think the next month or so going to be quite hard for you to contend with. And the launch of PS5 might seem quite bewildering in comparison... Just don't say we didn't try to warn you.

I can see Microsoft launching in October and Sony in December.

Neither will want to launch during the election cycle, especially if they cancelled events due to blm riots (they didn't want their news drowning out)

As it stands they certainly look in position to do just that. I mean MS employees have had the actual console in their homes for months it seems. For MS, seems only manufacturing mass quantities is the only thing stopping release. Maybe they are waiting for Halo Infinite to be ready, who knows.

I'm not concerned that MS won't make great games, rather I'm saying that they aren't historically known for that.

And this is where I think you are the only one (or at least, part of a small minority) who feels that way. Certainly, anyone somewhat objective would disagree with you on that.

See, this is exactly what I mean. We start out at "Why does the XBOX strategy to beat PS encompass everything except actual great games and experiences?" and end up at you throwing every single argument you have against a wall to see what sticks. It's rather tiresome to see goalposts being moved all the way to Mars in order to "win" a discussion.

I spend very little time thinking about the PS5, because I honestly don't care much about it. If everyone did that (edit: stopped worrying about things they didn't care about), Neogaf would be a much more enjoyable place. Instead we have numerous people on both sides (you included) trying their very best to wage war against the other side. You enjoy Playstation - good for you. I think the PS5 will be awesome and it will obviously have more great games than the XSX will. I'm not really going to be sleepless about that.

So, warning heeded, I suppose? I'm not sure what you are warning me about or why the next month is going to be "quite hard" for me to contend with.

Couple weeks of headstart, cause I doubt they can release it months before, is not gonna benefit them much at all.

2-3 Months would be where advantage starts, but even then ps5 would catch up quick.

I'm ok with my opinion not representing the whole world.

Had a Xbox, a 360, and I play Xbox One games on PC. Well the ones that interested me at least, I'm not going to pretend I played Crackdown 3.

I cannot tell anybody if the Xbox One UI, system level experience is good or not. But I can talk about the games.

See when I say gamepass is great, I'm not console warring, but if I say Xbox first party isn't very good then I suddenly am. That's not how it should work, but it's how it works. You get defensive about this because you have an emotional connection to your version, and I can respect that. Just don't talk down to the rest of us.

I think it's console warring to argue that Microsoft historically hasn't produced highly acclaimed games, yes. You can sugarcoat it, if you wish. It's not on par with Sony, but very few companies are.

If true, that's a big mistake. I remember when the PS3 launched, it barely had anything people wanted to play. And it hurt the PS3 in the beginning.

Even if it causes rrod which thy lied and knew about. Smfh. I doubt thy going tht rushed route.
Did people not watch the DF analysis of the XSX or the other tech sites? XSX is confirmed to be very quite. It has the tower design specifically for the cooling solution. DF even suggested that MS could up the clocks in the XSX and were being very conservative

MS's hardware team has come a long way. XB1X is proof of that.

Huh? There are already two games announced for launch, that will come to XSX and NOT to Xbox one and Playstation
Is that Scorn and something else? Jesus I didn't know. I thought everything was available on base Xbox. You have some sensitive ass people and mods here that I caught a warning for that post 😂😂😂

The horror title from Bloober that looks very Silent Hillish is the other one.

I didn't warn you, just corrected you, no biggie.

Yes, that's Scorn and The Medium, they are XSX and PC only. Both look pretty cool, IMHO.

I mean how much earlier can they really release the console if the PS5 isn't delayed? What's a week or even a couple of months going to do when it all comes down to it. It's not like what the 360 did.

I know it wasn't you, it's just funny that the mod that the warned me used Second Extinction as a game that's Series X console exclusive(which I meant) when in actuality it isn't. It's available on base Xbox.

Didn't know people flipped out over typos around here.

Sony will not want to miss black Friday. They'll release at least a week before that in the US

Big if because I dont know if I can believe that rumor.

The only thing that makes me think there is truth to it is MS and their 1X mid refresh. With that console they seemed to to tell anyone developing games for it to hit 4K at whatever cost, usually framerate.

Getting out early would have a positive effect on sales as people just want a next gen console. It could also leave a bad taste in peoples mouths if the software is buggy and all needs pstched. Then again it feels like every game released this gen needed day 1 patches.

they would make a beautiful lesbian couple:

Here comes the newest contender:

Tbh even if they launch it a year ago .. still won't make any difference.. people will wait for PS5

It's not about who's first but about who's ready

Damn, they should've waited 2 more weeks and 10 more games would be developed, now they're like 10 games short, dumbasses.

Seriously, I mean come on! launching a month or two first won't change anything regarding the readiness of games.

I feel what has made the biggest difference in the past is when manufacturers make mistakes at the beginning.

When 360 came out it hit all the right notes. PS3 had the mindshare but the price, the lack of games and poor performance hurt them at the beginning. It took a lot to bring the brand back.

When PS4 came out it hit all the right notes. Xbox really had good momentum but the DRM debacle, Kinect and lack of unique games hurt them at the beginning. The Elite controller, BC, Xbox X and Gamepass turned perception around.

While coming out first does have an impact (people are starving for new hardware after so many years of current gen) it doesn't really ensure anything.

One thing that could help a lot this time around is BC for previous gens. At least for me it's one of the most attractive things of Microsoft's offerings.
