I don't think Russia will attack Kiev head-on or ever intended to do so. This is simply a diversion.
Presumably, the goal is to secure the regions east of the Dnieper and to use the river as a natural border in order to protect Donetsk and Luhansk more easily. If you look at the map of Russia's territorial advances, this also becomes very clear.
The fact that Ukraine has destroyed almost all bridges along the Dnieper river is very convenient for Russia and was probably the plan. Every part of the Ukrainian army east of the Dnieper that is pushed back or destroyed can no longer be compensated for logistically by Ukraine.
Russia can and will be able to hold everything east of the river without much effort for ages, while Ukraine will be bled dry and will be worse off day by day and week by week.

Every military in the world that is at war effectively uses these buildings for storage, training, and generally as a base. The building layout usually provides very good conditions for this.

I know that there are probably a thousand other stories exactly like this, but to see the pictures and to know exactly who is laying on the ground just puts it into a different perspective. The fact that all of this is so completely and utterly unnecessary and unjustified makes it so much harder to swallow as someone who has young nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Every single time I see one of these photos or videos and I see a small body under a tarp or small hands or little feet sticking out of a blanket it just fucking breaks me man. You don't need to be a parent to understand the pain of that. You just have to be a normal breathing human being to understand the amount of pain contained into an image like that.
Putin has destroyed his own country economically, militarily, and emotionally. Russia will not be forgiven for this monstrosity for decades. There will be people across the globe that hold a grudge and a prejudice towards them for their whole lives.

This has nothing to do with the war and I mean that in quite general terms, but you really are a very simple-minded person who can be wonderfully played. That could already be seen several times in the thread about the coronavirus.
Not that you can definitely exclude a malicious intention of Russia in the bombing of the hospital, but it is more likely that the Ukrainian army occupied the hospital. This is and has been the case in many wars (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_use_of_schools). It is just a very common and ordinary thing and Russia had already pointed out on March 7 that Ukraine was using this hospital as a base and supply point for its operations.
My point here is not to whitewash anything about Russia. Russia started the war, there is no justification for it and Russia must be punished severely for it. This could also be about the USA, NATO or anyone else. But it is simply shocking how many people let themselves be carried away by emotions and often lose sight of very elementary things.

Slightly off topic but holy shit @ what this is doing to gas prices... This is just insane... Yesterday when I was going to the gym 1 liter Diesel was @ 1,95 EUR (which is already the highest it's been BY FAR) and today it's already @ 2,20 EUR. Damn... Driving car is becoming a luxuray if this goes on. Luckily I do not have to drive that much...
