Mr. Community
You also need to eat brown cheese, ski every winter (cross-country), and be better than Swedes or Danes, which I guess you are, judging from your jealousy.

Considering the metereological conditions of your country in winter, cross country ski is misnomer to glorify what everybody knows as shopping for groceries.

How embarrassing it must be for you then that Norway are a part of the EEA, which means Norway is de facto part of the EU, except Norway has no voting power what so ever like actual EU members have. Norway is best in class in implementing new EU regulations and laws even though it's not a full member.
The EEA is indeed a joke, but it's not the same as an EU membership. We were forced into EEA by our leaders even though we voted no, money talks, more than democracy, more than culture, more than progress.

got to wonder what that exchange is like. I assume that russian then would need asylum some place? wonder if EU/US would back door unofficially support that.

even still, You’d be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life.

If only NATO hadn’t forced the Russians to do this…

I know. What bastards NATO were for encouraging democratic nations to voluntarily join up to a security organisation that would have kept them safer from Russia.

Still waiting for Belarus to be hit with the same exact sanctions as Russia....

Yep. We should be looking at the destruction of the Belarussian state as much as the Russian.

The videos are becoming too numerous to post now that journalists have had time to investigate. It's not just Mariupol, or Irpin, or Bucha. It's everywhere the Russians occupied. It's a systematic looting, rape, torture, and murder of the Ukrainian population.

It absolutely is. It is genocide. Tens of thousands. Maybe more.

And western governments are refusing to do everything possible in their power to stop it.

So much for 'never again'.

Maybe it should have been changed to 'never again... provided it doesn't harm us'.

Genocide would indicate some directed policy being carried out in an organized manner from Moscow, similar to Hitler and the SS.When in all likelihood what we're more likely seeing is a shockingly ill disciplined rabble of a Russian Army, practically abandoned to fend for themselves by a military command structure that is simply incompetent beyond what was thought possible and therefore simply feel like they can commit any atrocity they can think of, during their retreat.

Also amongst its regualr ranks are extremist elements from the Russian regions & scum operators like the Wagner group mercenaries, notorious for their brutality to civilians wherever they operate.

Had never heard of them before strangely and read a lot of news.

For anyone else curious;

Or the fun version of these creeps...

Basically 40 or so US troops in Syria came under fire from Syrian and Wagner forces... The US called for action, they called Putin, they replied new phone who dis, and the US proceeded to kill 200+ Wagner and Syrian forces with 0 casualties on their side.

Sort of a fuck around and find out scenario for Putin. The claims that the US or NATO would wipe these fuckers off the planet isn't without evidence.

And fuck Wagner, shit holes.. basicay Russian Blackwater forces. All dickbags.

My favorite bit about that incident is that the US airstrike consisted of multiple B-52s and Spectre gunships, F-22s and F-15s and Apaches, when all that was needed to wipe out the band of mercenaries was a couple reapers and the artillery. There was a clear message being sent there.

If RUssia is not playing "fair" then I would really like NATO soldiers to fight alongside ukrainians.
They can just say, they are Ukrainians. Russia is always denying everything too

You mean like the Russian documents uncovered that detailed just that kind of thing?

And the information published in RIA Novosti?

Saw a tweet just now that showed a pile of bodies with a girl who could not have been older than 4 or maybe 5 on top of the pile. I may still fuck around in other threads and try to work off steam with jokes and stuff, but I am not sure how much longer I can pay truly close attention to this topic anymore. I have followed wars in my life. I have seen horrors and I have seen war crimes. But the regularity of the horrors we have seen this past week or so is making me just mentally uneasy.

I don't know what to say anymore. This whole ordeal is just surreal and horrifying in ways that I did not think I would experience in my lifetime. Maybe I am just weaker than I thought.

A lot of that gas is coming through pipelines crossing Ukraine.

It's complicated. A lot of the gas is flowing through pipelines crossing Ukraine, they could blow these up easily and cut the flow. But the money it brings in they desperately need.

Russia, Ukraine and Europe all have too much to lose from stopping the gas sales.

edit: according to https://gasdashboard.entsog.eu/#map-flows Russia exported 38% of its gas through Ukraine om March 30th. Which is a larger percentage then in October 2021.

Good news.

Is it me or that "quietly" is a bit hilarious??

I still can't believe that putin care about fucking semantics (or whatever you wanna call it) when it comes to what he consider a direct help or not, in what world giving your enemy a fucking tank is not considered a direct help?

Thankg god he is a dumb cunt, if i was him, i would make it clear that any bit of help, from training to weapons to tanks could cause a nuke attack to test how brave the other nations really are.

(Hopefully this is not considered russian propaganda, i'm just amused that we can actually help ukraine and the dumb fuck can't even menace with the nuke option for that because reasons)

Putin can't really threaten that without it officially becoming WW3. The west would come at him full force. Would be suicidal and his own lads would probably murder him first.

I understand that but it all sound extremely silly.

I'm gonna put the world on fire if any country put their men directly in the field, but you can give my enemy any weapon or training to literally fuck me up and i'm okay with that. (I know it's more complicated than that but still...)

It’s not weakness. It’s an understandable and entirely correct response to the worst of humanity. I just wish more people were taking the time and effort to view those images like you. Might change a few minds on what we should actually be doing to stop it.

And for the avoidance of doubt: I now believe the time has come to indeed risk escalation. Because if we as an international community are not prepared to risk ourselves to stop piles of children lying in the streets, then what the hell are we doing exactly? What is it about a world like that which is worth holding on to? I don’t want an escalation to nuclear war, but I do believe we need to start calling Putin’s bluff, and pushing back hard. More weaponry, more logistics support, missile launches on Russian troops still in Ukraine that we can lie and say came from Ukrainian troops.

Because they’re piling up the bodies of raped children. We have to do more.

He's looking for concessions and trying to save face with his own people, them getting nuked and a full on war won't do it. He's still a murderous bastard and hope he rots in hell but he's smart enough to know the consequences.

He wants to go down down in their history books as a hero. Which of course he isn't. If he gets concessions it will be argued that he achieved something for Russians and looks very likely it's going down that road.

Pretty sure Ukraine does not care about its gas supplies from Russia being cut off. Otherwise it would not be lobbying for Europe to do it. I’m pretty sure the Ukrainians would be bombing the shit out of Russia gas lines if they could right now. Hell, I hope they can at some point.

He should've thought about getting concessions before rabidly raving about Ukraine being a fake construct that needs eradication.
And before his troops put his senile dementia-fueled rants into practice.

Of course, that's what anyone sane should think. I'm not defending him by any means.

I wonder how his money is getting moved around during this. He has to be spending more time on that, curious if any paper-trail is found (doubtful).

I just wish "The West" would grow a pair and start making it obvious - film crews there the works - and start to supply/continue to supply helicopters, airplanes, tanks, advanced air defence systems etc etc. No more of this "quietly", on the hush-hush business.

If Putin then wants to target those shipments, let him. One bullet, bomb or missile into NATO territory - WW3 begins.

You can't have genocide in Europe and not do this, cos otherwise we're all complicit.

Hell, I'd be up for NATO issuing an ultimatum and calling Putin's bluff - If Russia doesn't pull back to the territory it occupied before the invasion began within X days, NATO troops and forces would enter Ukraine to set up defensive positions in order to stop further genocide by Russian forces. Even if that's just around Lviv, Kyiv etc in order to free up Ukrainian forces to move south confident their key cities in the North and West are protected from further attacks/genocide.

I think I’d prefer it if we just started battering his forces with cruise missiles, and bald faced lie and say it’s all the Ukrainians. How’s he going to prove it isn’t? Start rapid surgical strikes that obliterate entire regiments at a time.

Hell, start fucking targeting Russian towns and claim it’s the Ukrainians. Let’s see how his people keep supporting him if they’re in the firing line.

The cunt loves a ‘proxy’ war. Let’s give him one properly.

It's all so sad and frustrating. Tough to watch. The UN needs to kick out Russia, and NATO needs to enter Ukraine to stop the war crimes. This is as bad as the Bosnia war if not worse.

I’ve actually thought about this…play Putin’s game of just doing something the whole world can see, then blatantly lie and say “nope wasn’t us!” That might actually scare the piece of shit, but also that’s a dangerous Pandora’s box for a legitimate democracy to open.

They are getting a significant amount of money from transit fees. Ukraine want Europe to stop buying all gas, then they lose a lot but Russia loses way more. But that means a massive crisis in Europe which harms Ukraine as well in the end.

I’ve said this before, but the UN should be dissolved and rebuilt. The permanent security council members and their veto powers, makes it all incredibly pointless, and ineffective. The UN, especially that ‘United’ part, is a farce.

Russia and China would be stripped of their permanent security member status, but that’s impossible.

Don’t think Ukraine are too worried about what might happen ‘in the end’. I’m sure their worries over potential economic devastation are being overtaken by their worries about actual devastation.

Maybe, but the last thing Putin wants is more NATO forces on his borders and that's exactly what he'd get if he didn't comply with an ultimatum. He'd then have to do a calculation - call our bluff and continue with his invasion and risk NATO forces in Ukraine and possibly engaging his rag-tag army, or back off and try to spin whatever imagined gains he has as a victory to his own population. NATO would have to back up the ultimatum with huge military moves and build up along the Ukrainian border.

I doubt this would ever happen, but it'd be the quickest means to end the conflict if it worked. Putin respects military strength above all else, so why pussy foot about with sanctions in the face of confirmed genocide? I just wish we had the calibre of leaders to take the risk and stand for their convictions, instead of them all sitting their wringing their hands in despair convinced they are powerless to do anything.

Yup, also send some boys with some explosives to the gas lines that go to China and India too to hit equipment that can't be replaced due to sanctions on importing parts that they dont make.

Well many countries thought his gathering of troops on the Ukrainian borders last winter was a bluff, and were proven wrong.
"Nah, he wouldn't send his own troops in Ukraine !
Nah he wouldn't go further than Donbass !
Nah he wouldn't target civilians !
Nah he wouldn't escalate to nuclear war..."

Gives us reason to be extra careful about his "bluffing" from now on.

Unless a massive economic crisis leads to parties coming into power who want to 'return to normal' with cheap Russian gas and will throw Ukraine under the bus to get it.

I dunno how y'all are looking at pictures/videos of the dead kids, i've been following this war closely like everyone else but just reading about the medieval shit the Russians have been getting up to makes my blood boil but as a dad to two young kids i really don't need to see it graphically. Once the proper investigative teams go in and the evidence mounts i really don't see how Russia can ever join the "sane" world again or for western countries to drop sanctions until at the very least there's a regime change, i'm hitting turkey in the summer and its going to be very hard to keep my tongue in my mouth/fists in my pockets if i come across any Russians towing the party line
