Musk isn't smart.
He's pretty smart. He just has his lane. It's a modest lane, spanning various engineering fields. What gets him into trouble is talking publicly about shit he's not informed about. I'd guess Fairly high IQ, but average EQ. He lacks self-control. His army of kids with multiple women kinda corroborates what his tweeting habits scream.

I like some of his companies, and his ambitions for each of them, but I don't really like the guy. That said, I find him to be able to distill complex ideas into simple wording, and the genuine interest he seems to take in solving complex problems. His interview with Tim Dodd at Starbase Boca Chica are very interesting. It's literally rocket science, and he's engaged and knowledgeable on every aspect of the operation. I think he's a legit geek.

BTW, photos of Kherson villages south of the frontline flying the blue and yellow have been surfacing, giving credence to the breakthrough rumors. Still unclear how far it's reaching and so on.

On the north, Russians are saying that Kreminna was a red herring and ukrainian trops are trying to envelop svatove - I don't feel there's enough info in the open to validate that statement, but who knows, opsec and all that.

If you care to count, the recently liberated territory in the north totals about 1200km2 or in imperial units 224428 football fields.

I didn't understand the first measurement, so thanks for the freedom unit comparison.

Ukraine is metric so all the numbers coming out of them are metric, so I will share with you this tool that converts metric square area units to freedom football units. Enjoy!

Why avoid? Dude is a total douche no matter the topic, this ain't much different.
The issue going forward is the supply chains for materials needed to construct many high tech industrials is mostly from Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine has completely stopped production to due areas annexed that produced such materials and Russia due to sanctions.

His industries will suffer a lot due to shortages. He has a huge invested interest in a peace deal as well as many other manufacturing corporations in the US and Europe.

He’s just more vocal about it cuz he likes the attention

I find these news hard to comprehend.
5k Russians here, 25k there, thousands of sq kilometres… and any videos we ever see just show like a guerrilla groups of 5 to 10 Ukraine soldiers on foot shooting in a forest or standing over 1 destroyed tank or 2 dead Russians. I know there are way more videos but none shows thousands of lost men and tanks

I just have trouble understanding the scale.
And it’s impossible to judge wins and losses because each side colours the data

If you know where to look (telegram) you can find all the pictures of dead russians you could ever want. The 1s and 2s add up fast when there are telegram channels posting hundreds of such images daily.

You aren't going to see a battlefield with a thousand bodies in modern(post WW2) warfare unless something goes seriously wrong for one party, ie. highway of death in the first gulf war. Modern maneuver warfare is fought on the platoon or even squad level, not the battalion or regiment level. You aren't likely to ever see a massed formation larger than a platoon (maybe a company in a tight dug in fortification) in one place when to do so is suicidal due to the artillery strength on either side. A battalion sized grouping is a giant artillery target, so there is a reason you never see pictures of battalion sized units destroyed.

As far as judging wins and losses, you are correct that each side colors the data, but you can estimate orders of magnitude pretty well and compare that to the released numbers. If you do that Ukrainian numbers have been on the right order of magnitude at least the whole war(if you believe some of the leaked numbers from the kremlin, Ukraine may actually be undercounting), and the Russian numbers have been complete fantasy land numbers. Where we are in the dark completely are Ukrainian losses because Ukraine doesn't release numbers on that very often(understandably). While I hold out little hope that that number isn't going to be seriously ugly at the end of this war we can be reasonably sure it's substantially less than the Russian number simply based on the obvious differences in morale, along with who is advancing and who is retreating.

Aside from the stats, from the beginning there was no way that Russia could win this war conventionally with the resources they allocated to it if Ukraine was willing to fight. Once Ukraine got the capabilities to win the artillery duel, Russia ceased even being competitive as that was their only real advantage in the early days.
Russia has lacked the capabilities to achieve their political objectives since the beginning. It remains to be seen whether Ukraine has the capabilities to achieve their objective, but it's starting to look like the answer is yes.

some of the things we have seen in this war so far have been insane beyong belief. We have seen farmers nicking tanks, we have seen Russian soldiers using cardboard as body armour. We even witnessed a commander calling air support via bloody social media. Then just when you think things couldn't get any more batshit I present to you this :-

Who is he? musk? If he has supply chain depending on Russia... Well... Fuck him for avoiding 80s movies.. he's an South African apartheid oligarchy kid anyway... So he's a totally sus human anyway. But yeah, he needs to suck a dick while a Ukrainian drone watches him.

Elon is right, the only way to end this war is to make some kind of peace deal. The other option is several more years of war and tens of thousands of deaths for what will effectively be a stalemate. The US would support that for sure, but nobody else I hope.

He's not..you're not the right. The fuck you even bother posting in this thread. You post so much bullshit.

this just would give russia time prepare for next invasion into ukraine and then war would go even more then several years.
this war must end with ukraines land liberation total collapse and retreat of russias army and regime change everything else just delays war into russias advantage.

No peace deal until:
1.) Russian troops leave Ukraine (all of it)
and
2.) Putin is out of power (he broke the last peace deal with Ukraine so anything with him at the helm of it can't and won't be trusted at all)

Once that happens both countries are finally on equal footing and genuine peace talks can happen. All this peace talk happening when Ukraine is obviously coming out on top isn't in Ukraine's interest imo. Unless of course the two things mention actually happens.

Action > Words, and it's up to Russia now to start to show some good faith. Can't believe this needs to be said.

You mean surrender...what Russia didn't do when Napoleon or the villains of World War II marched towards them

He's got the big picture right. The war is not ending with one side winning, so a peace deal has to be made.
no he's not he's repating past mistakes, russia only can be defeated by force ukraine is taking its land back the more it takes back the faster war will end.

I'm not doing math

Your takes are consistently bad. I dont even know what your outcome is looking for. You're basically a waste of space, and I struggled to understand your point while folks are dying... What hill do you give a fuck about?
The outcome I'm looking for is to stop the war as soon as possible and prevent unnecessary deaths. I think it's a rational stance.

Imo, Russia can't be defeated without direct involvement of NATO soldiers. So the only other solution is a peace deal.

6 people gave you thoughtful responses and you're hung up on the one user who told you to STFU?

That actually does answer my question, but not in a way that I think would be satisfactory to you.
I'm not hung up on anyone, I'm talking to several people. It was just an example why people don't want to engage in the thread. More to come, likely.
