Another, internal group would most likely imply doing Putin a favour or trying to save their arse if he's going on a purge.
External could be Chechnya rebels. Lol. Or they could try blame Georgia since Putins already eying up territory to annex.
Same day they've officially removed Surovikin from his post aswell (has he been windowed yet?), so it looks like a purge for the failed coup, to me anyway.
They should of kept marching to Moscow tbh. They had the Kremlin buckled in fear.
Wouldn't be good to say it was Ukraine, as you say, makes Russia look weak as piss and unable to protect its airspace, but then again having drones crashing into buildings from Ukraine already makes them look weak and unable to protect their airspace.
