High losses are reflecting it:

It's a grinder, but at this point it isn't about ground gained, but about inflicting losses.

Russia is intensifying its airstrikes against Ukraine. With winter on its way, protecting energy infrastructure is crucial. That is why the Netherlands will supply another batch of Patriot missiles to Ukraine.

Ukraine has surpassed RuSSia in the number of Artillery shots fired per day. Russia is down from 63 thousand to 7 thousand per day.

Dont know, they could be stockpiling for the winter to take out electric/ power network in Ukraine . Also Ukraine is in offensive mode and Russia in the defense.

It's not a surprise here, but how old and functional is it?

Ukrainian forces conducted offensive operations in w. #Zaporizhia & reportedly made limited advances on Oct. 14.

Frontline report: Clever Ukrainian tank tactics allow breakthrough.
Spectacular Ukrainian tank maneuvers spearheaded assaults that captured vital trenches in the south. Ukrainian commanders leveraged the terrain and smoke screens to isolate Russian positions before overrunning them.

Russian forces are getting absolutely smashed in head-on assaults on Ukrainian forces in Avdiivka. They seem to lack even a basic sense of self-preservation.

After a drunken Russian officer ordered his lightly armed unit into a disastrous assault in which 300 men were lost, the survivors mutinied and refused to carry out further orders. They were reportedly imprisoned in a notorious torture facility.

Losses remain high.

Ukrainian forces continued offensive operations near #Bakhmut and in western #Zaporizhia Oblast on October 15.

Ukrainian military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets stated that Ukrainian forces took advantage of recent Russian counterattacks in western Zaporizhia Oblast to gradually advance near Kopani (5km NW of Robotyne), east of Nesteryanka (10km NW of Robotyne), and near Verbove.

Relatives of the mobilized from Tatarstan appealed to Putin and Shoigu for help. They say their men are thrown into assault and suffer huge losses.
Worth noting that the men and their families do not mind fighting a genocidal war against another country. They just don't want to be killed in it.

Russians are pushing some surprising vehicles into the battle in the Avdiivka direction. At the moment we've seen a BTR-90 and a destroyed BTR-50 on the battlefield, both for the first time in this war.

Today is GLSDB Day for Ukraine!
First big delivery is arriving today in Ukraine, this 150-180km arsepain for Russia will increase the strain on their logistics beyond breaking. In total Ukraine will receive 80,000 of the US/Swedish boom-things.
This is the cheap and cheerful mass-weapon that Ukraine so desperately need.It is delivering 1 meter accuracy on a mass-scale over huge distances.Trust me, Russia fears it like nothing else.Expect things to start go boom on a stupendous scale soon.

I really wish people would stop posting random twitter accounts who make unsubstantiated claims like this and provide 0 evidence to go along with it. There isn't a single source that is backing up this number.

Yeah. It’s annoying. Googled up and it’s clearly made up.

Last we heard for these GLSDBs is still around end of the year.

Excellent news, lads!
Looks like Ukraine’s successfully struck airfields at Luhansk and Berdyansk, with significant impact on people and aircraft.

Can’t quite figure out tweet embeds but here’s a screenshot

Helicopters from these airbases have led to the most loss of armor in the counteroffensive, so if the fleet is dealt a significant blow, it’ll make operations that much easier. Better if they’ve also succeeded in unaliving trained pilots.

Berdyansk latest, info from Ukrainian SOF. Operation codenamed "Dragonfly" against the occupied airfield resulted in:
  • 9 various destroyed helicopters
  • Special purpose vehicles
  • Air-defence system
  • Ammo cache
  • Damaged strip

Russian forces continued attacks in the #Donetsk-#Zaporizhia Oblast border area on October 16 and reportedly advanced near Zolota Nyva.

Ukrainian forces continued offensive operations in western Zaporizhia Oblast on October 16 but did not make any claimed or confirmed advances.

UK intel: Russia reframes Avdiivka offensive as “active-defense” due to heavy toll.
As Russia targets Avdiivka in its latest offensive, entrenched Ukrainian forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Russian side, leading to a change in Russian military rhetoric from an offensive to “active-defense.”

Ukraine still need tons of more aid.

This will never end...
It probably won't. What happens even if Ukraine gets Crimea back. They will have a hostile population within its borders. It's going to be like Gaza. They should have seen this coming and deported the ethnic Russian population after independence. The situation is actually eerily similar to Israel/Palestinian. Two ethnic populations, both claiming it to be true homeland of the Rus. I don't think people in the West see it that way, but this could be contested forever. For the Russian Orthodox Church Kiev is their Jerusalem.

Well, we'll see what happens when the rockets start landing in Russian towns then.

When Crimea is returned to Ukraine, there will likely be a mass exodus of the Russian nationals who moved there since 2014, who were only bussed in by Putin's regime in the first place. Russian has zero claim to Crimea. Their referendum was illegal and unrecognised. That makes it substantially different to the situation in Gaza/Israel.

When u think about it all these guys in those tanks are all dead by now.
According to Ukraine counts Russia lost 1,300 troops and 55 tanks yesterday!

55 tanks! That's insane. And it's not like when helicopters get hit at a base (which also happened with reports of up to 20 copter hit yesterday). These tanks were probably out in the field surf crews.

Bad day for Russia

Yes, insane numbers!

"confirms at least 21 (!) destroyed/damaged helicopters after the first use of ATACMS delivered by US".

Ukrainian forces reportedly advanced south of #Bakhmut and in western #Zaporizhia Oblast amid continued counteroffensive operations on October 19.

Liljagare Liljagare have you seen any numbers for Russians surrendering? Is that happening anymore? I think an entire section of trench surrendered the other day but not like at the beginning of the war when guys were signaling drones.

Since ukr is at the front I guess it's way harder to do that. I'm wondering cause if you're told to zerg rush in the slaughter fest up north what the hell could you do for yourself to avoid it.

Doesn't appear to happen that much at the moment, then again, it appears that Ukraine is mainly defending against attacks for the last few, not assaulting that much, the OrkSS keeps sending zerg waves after zerg waves at them.

Germany sends new military aid to Ukraine with drones and Gepards.

Avdiivka direction just north of Terrykon.. another Russian attempt to storm Ukrainian positions imaged by the 110th mechanized brigade.

They just seem incapable of learning at times??

Starting today, I will post a weekly update of equipment losses for the Russian offensive around Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.#Avdiivka offensive equipment loss numbers as of 20 October 2023. In summary: 87 RU losses vs. 3 UA losses.
