Russia begins Invasion of Ukraine

Status
Not open for further replies.
Russia has been at war with Ukrainian (and other states on its borders) independence for centuries. And will be so for a very long time in the future.
For the current chapter in that conflict, the war will end with either Russian forces being pushed out or Russia installing a vassal in Kyiv. Both could happen as Western countries elect leaders who want to abandon Ukraine while Putin stays in power but the Russian losses are so vast they may even be unable to take over a toally alone Ukraine.
The other outcome seems far fetched but a collapse can come quickly and suddenly.

The Air Force reports that air defense forces destroyed 71 of about 75 “Shahed” drones during the night and morning.

Wake-up call: Nothing is stopping Russia from increasing production of these [Shahed] drones to thousands per month. It just takes a bit more time. If the West only reacts when Russia's new factories are up and running, it will be too late.

Denmark will increase aid to Ukraine by more than 3.15 billion euros by 2027, — the Ministry of Defense of Denmark.

(A corresponding (i.e. adjusted for population and GDP per capita) commitment by the US would be over 180 billion USD.)

Canada will transfer 11 000 assault rifles and 9 million rounds of small ammunition to Ukraine, - Trudeau

Russia's war with its gravest imaginable crimes isn't the first attempt to erase Ukrainian nation from the face of Earth. Today in Kyiv I honoured Holodomor's victims, millions of Ukrainians who perished because of deliberate mass famine - a genocide perpetrated by the soviets.

Today we remember the millions of children, women & men starved to death during the Holodomor genocide.
90 years later, Russia is again weaponising food as it pursues its [war of] aggression [against] Ukraine.
We must do everything to stop the atrocities. We continue to #StandWithUkraine.

Obviously there would not be a need for war if the lesser ones just accept their natural place beneath Moscow's boot.
So in Russia's reasoning, they are asking for a war.

(this is where Azov is brought in acccording to the the vatnik playbook)

That is only true if we use Patriots to shoot down drones.
What has been happening a lot in this war, both in the Ukrainian and Russia side, is the increase use in electronic jamming to take out drones.
This is a much more effective and cheap way of dealing with drones.

Stupid Ukraine refusing to be peacefully subjugated. It could have been over in no time! All they needed to do was let Russia take their whole country, PEACEFULLY. These Ukrainian warmongers should be held responsible.
Looks like you lack a lot of context, that Is why your talk is so inaccurate.

I don’t support or care about either side. But I think that we gotta look to the whole picture, not just what we want to see.

People have asked you not to be so cryptic. All you really have is "lol ur wrong bc u don't know". Okay, so why don't you actually say something instead of different variations of "educate yourself".

What is this "whole picture" you speak of that we lack but that you, as the sole person who cares nothing for either side, has the clairvoyance to see with such clarity?

You seem to be fine telling other people they are wrong but can't get a single sentence together about why you might be right.

Hey look, sobaka got himself an alt!
How's it going dude? Living it up in the Polish bought part of ukraine or talking with the bigwig russian military planners for your next front collapse?

Ah, I missed you guy!

And what did they do to provoke the war?

He's not going to elaborate in a way that actually answers your question because that would be impossible. Maybe he will try to play up some "evidence" of Ukrainian "misgivings" that occurred AFTER the war started. Or just say that he can't be bothered talking to us because we are too stupid. Or some combination/variation of multiple such fallacies until he runs out of stupidity ammo and ways to blame us for his inability to make his own point.

I'll be impressed if he responds with a thoughtful post with real points in it. Even if they are all completely wrong, at least had the balls to put what he really thinks to back up his own allegations. I doubt he will have the real discussion he claims to want though. Like most everything else he says it's BS.

I’m just asking to get a grasp of the discussion.
But I think that we gotta look to the whole picture, not just what we want to see.
From the guy who was "just trying to get a grasp of the discussion", we could list 100 points and he would just come back with "you don't see the whole picture". O ye who has naught one grasp of thigh discussion at hand, please thusly bestow upon us thine divine clairvoyance of thy whole picture, that upon which we so sorely lack.

And what did they do to provoke the war?
NATO maybe, they started the transferring of missiles near the borders of Russia, missiles that could easily hit Moscow? Terrorism in certain areas of Ukraine where people who spoke Russian and wanted to be part of Russia, people who did not have water and electricity because Ukraine didn’t want to give them their right of “free thinking” ? Did you forget about the Azov?

And much more. I repeat that I don’t support either side and I don’t really care, but I try to see the whole picture, it’s not like “Russian woke up in the morning and wanted to do war”. There are years of history behind this.

Even Angela Merkel admitted that the “peace treaty” was a fluke to save time and prepare for the war.

Whoever is really interested in this war can start researching and reading, not just “stand with the trend”. And with that said, I’m out of this thread. Hope this war ends someday and we don’t suffer this economic crisis because of it.

Russians find out that attacking the critical infrastructure is a game that can be played by two, as half of temporarily occupied Donetsk is apparently without electricity after a successful Ukrainian strike takes out a distribution centre.

Two international airports in Moscow have suspended operations after a major drone attack targeted the capital city. Russian media claims 11 Ukrainian drones were shot down by air defense while one building in the city of Tula was hit. Injuries were reported by local Russian media.

After the Russian Shahed attack yesterday night, Ukraine responded with a drone attack on Russian cities. In Moscow, 5 UAVs were reportedly shot down while 20 drones struck other places. In Tula, a high-rise building was hit and in Smolensk explosions were also recorded

Movement on the street in Moscow is completely blocked due to the electrical wiring catching fire, according to the transport department.
The cause of the fire is unknown 🤷🏼‍♀️

A UAV is reportedly flying again over Russia's Tula. There was an explosion in Tula two hours ago.

NATO has had missiles capable of hitting Moscow for many decades before this invasion. And Russia has had missiles capable of hitting Washington for just as long.
That is a very sad, pathetic excuse, especially when Russia also has missiles in it's borders with Nato countries. Let's not pretend that this was ever a real reason for anything.

And that thing about Azod is precious, when considering that Wagner has so many open Neo-Nazi's in it's ranks. One of them is the late founder of the group.

LOL, not one single reason on why you think Ukraine provoked this war.
The reality is that there were no provocations from Ukraine. Neither now, nor is 2014.
It's all just Russian ambition to expand it's empire.

You clearly support Russia, and we’re still waiting to see your list of Russia’s neighbors that just begged for Russia to invade them.

This was 100% just copied and pasted from Kremlin propaganda. Every single talking point there from NATO, to ‘oppressed people in the Donbas’ to Azov.

Hopefully someone can make your exit from this thread permanent.

Fun fact: Russia has used the ‘protecting Russian speaking people’ excuse innumerable times in the past century to justify invasion of their neighbors.

Yeah, I mean didn't they do exactly the same thing in Georgia? They have their Russian backed separatists start some shit, then falsely accuse Georgia of committing genocide, which they then use for a reason to invade.
Same story in Ukraine. If you're on Russia's side after all the bullshit they've pulled you're either very gullible or a Russian bot.

I literally rolled my eyes when I saw the comment about NATO being the cause of this war. There has been a mountain of evidence to prove otherwise, but if people would rather bury their heads in the sand then thats on them I guess.

After Russia set up the civil war in Ukraine in 2014 and the Crimea situation, it blocked any possibility of them getting into NATO.

Anyone still pushing the NATO excuse for the war is a Kremlin bot, or a Kremlin dupe.

Russia just never wanted the prospect of a prosperous Ukraine. They invaded in 2014 just to block moves for Ukraine to join the EU, and that’s certainly not a military union.

Plus if it was about Russian speakers, they had control of the Russian speaking areas day 1 of their invasion but they kept going,
Really we need to stop teaching that the ussr was an ally in ww2, they were simply the enemy of the nazi,

Shit like this really infuriates me. I don't understand why nobody is clamping down on these obvious loopholes when it comes to sanctions and exports of western tech in general.
