Honestly, I haven't experienced any of these game crippling bugs that many seem to incur. That's certainly not to downplay their significance, because I do know of friends having their screen freeze up periodically. Although, it's possible their 360 is causing the issue and not the game itself.

All I can tell you, is that I've logged roughly 250 hours, and have not suffered any crashes or save deletions (which has been remedied with a patch). Occasionally, your player might accidentally teleport into a tree, but that's easily solved with a button click.

If you're not hypersensitive to tearing and occasional frame drops, then I think you'll really enjoy S2. It's greatly superior to anything else of it's genre on consoles.

Yeah I don't really care about tearing. My concern is more on the animation. How is the Temple Guardian's animation? Is it donkeyballs?

Thanks for your answers, greatly appreciated.

TG is the WORST. He really looks like he shit himself. I joke with my daughter about his animation all the time. Overall the animations are OK though. ;)

BTW: Regarding your other concerns. Install the game. I've had some bad crashing issues when not installed (I swap HD's around and don't always want to re-install). Only a couple when it was installed.

Manually save if you've been running around for a while.

When couch co-op trading, trade one way. For example, give her items first, then hers to you. Don't try to do all the trading at once (people lose items this way).

Read up on the character combat arts and their mods in the Wiki. Will help a LOT when just getting started.

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Fallen_Angel

Both pick Light or Dark to start so you can run through each others campaigns together. Once you finish with yours you'll need to run hers. Completion doesn't count for anyone but the host.

Finally... take note as this is a show stopper people hit. Look at this map.

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Map_of_Ancaria

Bottom middle underneath the huge desert area is a boss (in red) "Kral of the Winged Demons".

Do not explore or click pillars underground in this area. If you go underground where he is and click the pillars before you fight him in the story first you will not be able to progress after you fight him.

EDIT: Quality sucks but you can see how the animation is here:

Skip to 2:35 for the TG's "ERROR: Pants are full of foreign material.. ERROR!!!" Run animation LOL!

:lol Thanks, your post led me to watch loads of vids on youtube to judge by myself. Strangely enough, I thought the TG was not the worse. Shadow warrior and high elves are atrocious. Inquisitor look like he is stepping on eggs. Dryads didn't look that bad and sepharim's combat animations were catastrophic.

Now is that a deal breaker? I don't think so. But I find it sad that they didn't put more work into that thing.

Level 42 Temple Guardian,on Silver, and I can't beat the Octopuss Boss...I come damn close but at one point,I seem to stop damaging it and he starts to regain health...any tips on this guy?

If you're a TG and went the Devout Guardian route, just level up deathly spears to your level and it will become the biggest boss killer ever once you get the jab modification. No class can kill bosses as well as a TG can that has deathly spears level'd up.

I can't really give you any tips as I killed him in about 10 seconds. Jolting Touch & Deathly Spears will kill bosses in the game pretty damn quick (at least with my build). I'm using that Lost Utility build on the Ascaron forums.

I will say that while not a overly pretty game and with some framerate and tearing issues, when zoomed in it's quite detailed. Some of the effects/physics are impressive for the size of the game as well. Especially with a Inq or High elf casting, as the foliage is dynamic, so grass and trees start swinging wildly due to the force of the spells. Repeated casts can really get things moving. :)

Also, there's no loading while running around. Cities do load and it can be annoying (sometimes it loads for unknown reasons every 3 friggin' steps)... as do caves etc. but it's pretty quick. Still no loading while just running around is great.

To be blunt, most of the quests are "meh", escort/fetch fare and the story is uninteresting overall, but if you want to level, get loot, level, get more loot and really build your own characters it is the best option on the console side IMO.. though admittedly choices are slim. On the console front I was a huge PSO fan. Hated Universe, Circle of doom was cool for a handful of hours and Too Human never grabbed me. I've played this (nearly) every day since it came out. Getting to understand WTF you are doing with your characters, their combat arts etc. is fun for me. *cough* Then re-rolling to fix your horrible crippling mistakes once you do start to understand really makes the time fly *cough*

Kinda funny (unless it's your character I guess). People are reporting a bug where if you pick payback then healing, Jolting Touch will actually heal the enemies instead of you.

Are you playing the EU or US version?

The EU version (PS3) was patched a few days ago, but the US version (PS3) does not have many of the fixes that the recent EU patch did. If you go online to the Sacred 2 site and check the forums, the US, PS3 version still is crippled with many crashes, lockups, and other bugs.

The worst part is, noone on the site is commenting on even if the US PS3 version is going to get fixed.....I really want to get this game, but i do not want to deal with all the lockups and crashes. Alot of them are hard crashes too where you need to totally kill the power on your PS3 and turn it back on....no thanks.

Anyone here with the 360 version having problems with the game randomly freezing? It's the only game I have that does it, it sometimes glitches out as well, like when I try to bring up the map or enter a dungeon it'll make my character disappear, then freeze. I've played on the disk and on the HDD and I've experienced the same problem. I want to play but this is seriously fucking annoying.

Also loading (streaming) while playing from the disk is horrible.

Ummm ok,I do have 43 points in the Devout guardian route but i'm mostly using Dedicated Blow...none of my arts where higher then level 3 though so I pumped Deathly Spears to at least 16 now and DB to 10...with a few levels now(43) i'll give it another try this evening...the Boneslicer is still one of my best weapon and another that does a little more damage, around 125 with a bunch of forged buffs on top of the ones that came with it.

Went pretty much all over town today, game is sold out everywhere. One store was actually paying 60% of the full price for trade ins of Sacred 2 (bigger sign).

Found out (after closing hours) that one small office/pc app store has started selling console games (and they had the game listed on their page) so that's my last chance.

Freezing during the loading screen, freezing when trying to start a new campaign, when it does let me move around when starting a new character I have no body and the map only loads a small area, the map will kinda come up but it will look all fucked up and when I press start the game freezes. When I continue from my original character and try to zone into a dungeon the game will freeze after the load screen, again it'll let me spin around while not actually moving and when I hit start the game freezes. My friend in my chat can still hear me and I can hear him and when I open the disk tray it sends me right back to the dash, unlike when most other games lock up or freeze.

I've tried playing from the disk, clearing the cache and playing from the hard drive, also the DVD looks fine.

Managed to get the game today.

Question: Can you transfer the PS3 save file to a different system and continue playing?
I'm about to start the game at a buddies place tonight, co-op questing.

You can do whatever you want with the save file. HOWEVER, WARNING: the game detects when the save file has been accessed (eg. moved, copied, etc.) outside of the game code, and it stops allowing you to trade items in co-op.

Ever since my 60GB crapped out on me, I back up my save data on a weekly basis. I spent hours trying to catch up to my friend's level so we could play co-op together and, when I finally did, it wouldn't allow us to trade items online :-(

Wollan

Hmm I wonder why that is. Even if I had multiple save files across multiple systems just the one which did the trade would get the items I believe (unless every user have server stored chars?).

Not news so much, but I noticed this on the official site: http://www.sacred2.com/en/news/show...Angel_Erweiterung_Ice_Blood_angekuendigt.html

07-07-2009

With "Ice & Blood", SACRED and action RPG fans can look forward to an elaborate new development with numerous new features, promising many additional hours of exciting gaming fun, and adding to the value and replayability of the original game.

The expansion introduces the Dragon mage, an additional main character, as well as interesting quests and stories that whisk the player away to new adventures in Ancaria. Moreover, the add-on contains two new, unique locations and previously unknown enemies, who will challenge action RPG gamers with unique tactics of their own.

Add to that new in-game items for each main character of "SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel", and plenty more useful, innovative features. "Ice & Blood" requires an installation of the original game.

More information about the add-on will follow soon.

Sounds like it'll be reasonably substantial anyway. :)

I still didn't find the game, but some guy I know said he loves the game, and that comes from the biggest fan of Fable 2 that I know of.

My question is; If I hated Fable 2, will I spit on Sacred 2?

Flyguy

This game is nothing like Fable 2. If you hated Fable 2 because it was short, linear, few sidequests, limited items, no armor, and gimped co-op you might like Sacred 2. If you hated Fable 2 because you don't like western RPGs, stay far away from this game.

I didn't like Fable for all those reasons indeed. You nailed the co-op part, I almost fully played the game in co-op and it was utter shit. And this is a big concern because I plan to play Sacred in the same way. But I also detested it because it was sluggish, always hillbilly (I don't know if that's the correct word, translated from french) and didn't deliver what it promised (character depth, social interactions with npc, nonlinearity, and more)

And I'm a huge huge fan of Diablo 1,2 and Titan Quest.

Now that you know more, will I like it?

Because of the crappy quick menu that only offer you to eat frigging pies. Oh God.

Hope the expansion makes it to consoles. I haven't played sacred 2 in a while now. I'll play again as the new class, if it appears for consoles. I played it too much and burned myself out on it.

All I can say is that I love those games, and find Sacred 2 to be a very good game, not as good as the ones you listed. But very much worth the money. I would say that you can't go wrong with this game if you are a fan of Diablo and Titan Quest.

Is there any method for obtaining set pieces, or is it just random? My Shadow Warrior is lvl 29 and I have two pieces from two different sets, and would like to complete them.

I'd say yes. It's not without its own faults (tearing, framey, buggy in general, non-existent story, etc.), but at the end of the day I've spent 200 hours playing it and can totally see myself doing another 200 more.

No method. Having +magic find items, along with enhanced perception helps the drop rate. You could try doing boss runs in free world. I almost always get a few set pieces out of that.

Yeah, I have been working on building up enhanced perception, currently at +13 via gear atm.

Yes! Pies! Don't tell me you were going through the slow-ass menu when you had to heal? I can't believe anyone would manage to remain slim from beginning to end.

I'm eager to see what your hero looked like, any pics?

You should like Sacred 2 then. I think Sacred 2 is a better game in terms of mechanics than either D2 or TQ/IT. You have to put up with a lot more bugs to enjoy it though.

Read up about character builds before starting Sacred2 and use the breeze through silver/get serious on gold advice and you should have plenty of fun.

The default difficulty is way too easy for anybody who has ever played a game other than WiiSports. What you do is start in Silver difficulty and just do the main quest line, unlocking gold difficulty. Once you've got gold difficulty unlocked do everything/anything.

I love the game but this is puzzling me. Its hilariously bad.

The same rube who voiced the Two World's protagonist somehow found his way into the Sacred 2 studio. That's one of the main reasons I eventually abandoned my shadow warrior for another character... I just couldn't stomach his dumb ass. It's like listening to a mentally handicapped middle-aged man accidentally wander out of his facility for the first time and discover the world.

Thankfully, the VA for the Dryad, Inquisitor and Temple Guardian are all pretty good. I also like the Seraphim's over-the-top delivery, but it's probably an acquired taste. NPCs around the map are a mixed bag.

There is a starting level limit for playing on the closed PC servers in each difficulty, but none for the offline game. As soon as you've cleared Silver, go straight for Gold.

Silver is fine also...it is not that easy on Silver...with my TG anyway.Mostly Bosses though,I agree that the regular mobs are easy on Silver but I just ran into "Xanthiar",at level 44 on Silver and he pretty much killed me in 2 hits...I know I messed up my TG at first, almost to the point of no return but still...I also needed help with the Octopuss Boss and we had a hard time with 2 players.

I was late-30s, early-40s. I'm playing on PC, maybe it is different on console? I finished up gold in my mid-70s and was able to jump right into Platinum as well.

Wait, the US version hasn't been patched yet? The UK version was patched weeks ago. :/

I assume if nothing else that it'll patch with the new content when it's released, but that could be some time away.

EU got a PS3 patch a few weeks ago that brought them on par with the US PS3 version AND it included fixes to issues that the US launch version still has.

US PS3 version has never been patched since the game was released.

This is what i have been able to determine by reading the forums over at the Sacred2 official website. I havent been there in a week or so, but that was the latest. The worst part is, noone who works at the site is able to get any information from the Developer on even IF a US patch is in the works....Quite sad.

That's not exactly correct. The US version got a patch after release. It added the marketplace and maybe something else. The real patch people wanted tho, the one that hit EU with trading etc, that one hasn't been released and we don't know when or if it will hit.

Just to clarify on the level requirement thing (on the 360); if you finish the Silver/Gold etc story... you can join online Gold/Plat etc games as well as selecting that difficulty on your own. So say you finish silver @ 30 you can join online gold games or make your own gold campaign.

I believe (I haven't tested this part) it's only if you haven't finished the story that there are level requirements for joining online games.

Hammer - a post at the Sacred Xbox forum says they are in planning stages of bringing the expansion to the consoles. Contracts need to be finalized though... and I still have stuff for your set that I was saving for like 3 weeks now. Do you still want it?

http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=624291

I am giving serious consideration to picking-up a copy (PS3) of this on my way home from work tonight.

I liked Diablo 1/2, as well as the console Baldur's Gate/Norrath H&S games -- Titan Quest as well to a certain extent, but the setting left me a little uninspired.

I no doubt will enjoy the gameplay and the setting in Sacred 2, but the technical issues I'm reading about are worrisome, especially the screen tearing, crashing/lock-ups, and corruption issues.

So, lootwhores of gafnation: how bad is it really - the US PS3 version is what I need to know about.

Edit: Looks like they're endeavoring to get the expansion going on consoles as well. Good news.
