Sacred 2 |OT| Lootwhores of all Platforms, Unite!

Its good to know IGN at least aknowledges the fact that there is a issue potentially. Seeing the screw attack video, the game seemed to run fairly well, though dont know if they have a retail copy either.

Anyways, I'm still getting my copy on Wednesday! If it indeed runs better and plays better then the gold master burn you guys got. Awesome. All the better.

And yeah... how come there was barely mention on co-op online play?

Hrmmmm... I don't know what to do. I have a gaming budget, only spend 100 bucks a month on games, it works for me but now Im stuck. I just got patapon 2, and am down to 80 - and have to decide between Sacred 2 and inFamous for this month. The other game I'll probably just swing next month.

Anyway - heres the question - inFamous already looks like it's something I'll really like, plus the uncharted 2 MP kind of already sold me on it, so that's not an issue. The question is, is Sacred 2 something that can wait till next month, or something I'm going to want to play RIGHT now?

One of the biggest selling factors is me and my girlfriend really like to play Diablo clones together - Titan Quest for example was the source of a LOT of fun. We have two computers that can run Sacred, but going off the demo, it won't be all that nice looking and smooth on her laptop, so I'm leaning towards console. 360 or Ps3 will be fine, but I dont have live so I'm leaning towards Ps3.

Anyway, what do you guys think, wait till june for Sacred 2 or push inFamous back a bit?

I would probably get Sacred 2 now, so you're not 'behind the curve' when you want to play with some friends and there's no danger of that 'we're already over that game' phenomenon.

I'd suggest the same. Especially since you and your gf love playing these kinda games together. I think Sacred 2 falls into a purchase promptly category for you.

Well if the games technical issues are true then most likely it will need a patch, which we will all have to wait for.

Also with the Uncharted beta I don't know how long that'll last so you might as well play that while it's available.

I say go for infamous, if you want to get them launch day.

For me this gen £25 is the spot, I wait for the game to drop to then buy them, so I won't be buying either... yet.

An argument AGAINST Sacred 2 (sorry guys)

The game is going to bomb on consoles, sad but true, I just do not see enough people hyped for it.

Infamous will be the same price next month as it is 1st party

Get Infamous now and wait until next month for a 40 dollar Sacred 2, then you will have 60 remaining next month to get something else!

Guarantee amazon will have deals for Sacred 2 for like $25 or something, lol.

I'm voting for Infamous as well. Not because Sacred 2 will bomb but because it will have legs (not salewise, but online).

I think it will have legs online, but then you're down to the problem P-A pointed out in a comic a while back. You're level 2 and your friend's level AWESOME.

That's why you can have more than one character :) People are gonna try every class unless they have already played it on PC.

I tend to make news characters if I play co-op. Unless I have a high level players, its always fun to start again and kill stuff with friends.

Is there shared storage or anything for transferring items between multiple characters? Also, haven't seen much on the actual loot in this. I'm assuming there's a a good selection of different designed (visually) weapons/armor etc?

From what I understand there is a shared treasure chest of sorts that lets you share items, etc. :D

A passionate embrace, a beautiful memory lingers.
I've been digging around for info on this game, but for some reason I can't get any solid bits.

So apparently this game is huge as fuck, which is cool. One of the things I love most about open ended worlds is a chance to explore. Is it diverse, or does it all look the same? Will I WANT to actually explore? And, is there any form of multiplayer?

If there is co-op, so help me I'll pick this up in a heartbeat.

4 player online co-op. 2 player offline (same screen). There is plenty to explore and yes, you will want to explore it all. Some of the locations are f'cking beautiful :)

Try looking here. I find it pretty diverse.

Any confirmation on whether or not the game is region-locked on 360? Would prefer that version, but if not, PS3 it is.

Nothing decisive. CDV said it wont, but german retailers list an english version coming May 15th, and that would have to be the US version.
Check here next week, they´ll be the first ones to confirm.

I have a Japanese 360. Play-Asia also lists an Asian version for pre-order, but there's an Asian PS3 version coming too.

Play Magazine gave it a 7 and said it had depth and complexity. 6 Classes, 3 Skills Trees, Oblivion-type open world, 4 player co-op or "free play", tons of loot? I'm getting it.

Review:

Hardcore RPG fans looking to hone their epic adventuring skills before Bioware’s Dragon Age: Origins arrives, may want to give Sacred 2: Fallen Angel a spin. The under-the-radar release—a port of 2008’s modest PC hit—lacks the polish, production values, and accessibility of a built-for-consoles role playing romp such as Fable II or even Too Human, but it still manages to scratch that looting and leveling itch fans of the genre crave.

Do we know if you can have a guest online with you? Meaning 2 ppl on one console can play online with 2 ppl on another console?

Not sure if this means anything, but the box art does not even have a region code at the top, like most titles.

Edit: Nm, guess not anymore.

Yes, from Tom at Ascaron: "Yes, the game goes from 1 to 2 player seemless and 2 on 1 console can play with other 2 on console vi XBL"

Edit: You might both have to have Gold on XBL though, not certain on that.

The only thing I've seen on this from Ascaron was here (their official 360 forum hosted at Teamxbox) : http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=617719

At first she said no, then it seems that yes it is region locked on 360.

The game is out this week?

As a frustrated Loot whore I want this game to be good

Thanks. Im assuming the same applies to PSN.
It doesn't.

Dumont: Both consoles work with the same sources for interface, logic, graphics and level design. Both versions offer Full HD. There are some differences on the technical side, for example on PS3 you can’t go online with two users on one console so it’s not possible to log in two users to the PSN at the same time. However, there’s a generous HDD in every PS3 which allows us to use more space for temporary streaming data.

Weird. He's describing a system limitation (can't log in two PSN users at the same time on the same machine) that will fall/already has fallen in recent SDK versions, if you follow the developer updates on Little Big Planet and Resistance 2.

I'm not really sure why he plays this as the reason why it can't be done, because there definitely are ways to do connected split-screen co-op on PS3 anyway. Sure, one player is then relegated to being a "guest", and not a real PSN user -- meaning no collecting trophies, accumulating progress to take back home -- but they can still play. Again, Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 both did this.

Knowing Ascaron (and having played through Sacred 1 ...), they'll have to patch it several times anyway. Here's to hoping they get that feature back in.

Oh shush you. This game is just right to fill the action-RPG void on consoles right now. That should be exciting enough. Now with the Witcher probably gone for good from console release calendars, Sacred 2 only got more important.

I know Ascaron have run into some financial difficulties, so maybe it was just something they couldn't afford to implement after the SDK updates.

Just speculating, of course. Hopefully the game sells enough copies that they can afford to support it with patches.

Didn't Ascaron go bankrupt? How is the PC version with the latest patches? Compared to Titan Quest, is this better or worse? How intuitive and user friendly is the interface?

They are financial secured to support the console version post release. The PC version is okay and should satisfy the inner loot whore in everyone. It's not really Titan Quest or Diablo. Interface is really simple but has been getting a lot criticism on the console version.

Metalic Sand

who is Emo-Beas?
So i finally got my PC copy and been playing with 2 other friends of mine. Level 19 High elf atm and OMG this game is fucking addicting/amazing.

I gotta say though the PhysX are retarded. its basically random leaves everywhere and totally kills the feel of the game when leaves are magicly appearing EVERYWHERE and there is some points where you literally see like 100's of leaves flow past your view as they blind you. You may find it cool at first but it gets old really fast :lol

High elf with Glacial thorns + Blazing tempest = Massive XP grinding. Have someone pull tons of monsters together then cast those two. :D

Dont want to ruin this for everyone but it was funny shit, I found a grave in the city near the middle of the map(big ass city next to the ocean) and read one of the graves and it said "You have just been rick rolled" :lol :lol :lol First ever game rick roll?

PS3 has online co-op, it's just that (apparently) you can't go online with 2 people playing on the same PS3.

The PS3 version HAS online coop - you just can´t take two local players online.

I know, but there are so few reviews. I have been wondering if IGN's issues were just an anomoly...

Here's another "first impressions":

Sacred 2 is Pure Gaming Crack

So, an early Xbox 360 review copy of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, which hits retail next week alongside the PS3 version, arrived yesterday afternoon, and after a good 3-4 hours of hacking, slashing, questing and looting last night alone I just wanted to give console gamers itching for a good old fashioned action-RPG fix a quick heads up that this is the hack-n-slash crack you’ve been craving. It is unbelievably addictive!

The other good news is that thus far the console adaptation seems fairly solid…on the Xbox 360 at least. There are some intrusive loading times that don’t exist on the PC and the graphics are a notch below what the game looks like on a high-end gaming rig, but other than that I haven’t come across any other noticeable limitations. The game runs smooth and the interface, while not entirely ideal, works well once you get a handle on where everything is.

Update after 10 hours:

OK, quick update for those who are interested.

I’m about 9-10 hours in now. Got my Seraphim up to level 21, hacked through over 2,000 enemies and completed around 70 quests. And yet I’ve only explored a mere 5% of the game world according to the in-game stat tracker. That’s how huge this game is!

The longer I’ve played I have noticed a few more polish issues — the frame rate stutters a bit when you get into the larger towns and some of the AI is a bit goofy, especially during escort quests — but still nothing substantial enough that it hurts the experience in any way.

For me the game just keeps getting better and more addictive as I go. I have absolutely no problem with the interface, so I continue to wonder why some of the big review sites are hammering it so much. I really don’t see how it could be any better.

Will have my final impressions up later in the week, just need to get some time with the online stuff.
