never left the stone age
in which we retroactively do something to justify why this character is a loved badass even tho he never did much

I know right? Boba Fett was a clumsy as fuck dude with a jetpack. I bet Greedo could wipe the floor with the guy

Meh.

I still hope we get a Rogue Squadron movie at some point. I thought the first spin-off film was one before they detailed what it was actually about.

We hardly got an origin story in Episode 2. Boba was still a child. "Origin story" probably means when he grows up and starts actually hunting bounties,

That happens in Clone Wars, though.

Granted, not anywhere near as many people have seen those as have seen Clones, Empire & Jedi, but Lucasfilm has bought in pretty hard to the unified canon thing (for better or for worse) so it seems weird to call this an "origin" story when it's basically already happened onscreen.

So is it hip to hate Boba Fett now? Or is this just:

The Anthology films are not set in their own movie universe. Not sure where they got that idea. They are simply not The Core Saga

Exactly! I never understood his popularity among Star Wars characters.

He is a silent killer which tends to get translated to " Wow, he is so cool" by a part of Star Wars core demographic. Thats atleast my theory. Of course, they didn´t like what happened to him in 6.

Was Lucas not aware that people liked Fett far more than anyone could have anticipated? Empire was released in 1980, and Jedi in 83. Was Boba Fett just not popular during that period and his popularity soared later on? Or was Lucas just being dense and ignorant.

I mean his scenes in Jedi are embarrassing

I would much prefer they went out and created original content, I hope thats where the universe is headed, Boba is fine, I understand he is a name you can pin a film on but star wars EU sells itself.

Meh

Why is this guy getting a origin film like he isn't a scrub?

guy sucks.

He had cool looking armor and a few bits of dialogue from or about him that hinted he was a badass, in total contrast to the one time we see him doing something other than standing around. That's....about it really.

He's pretty cool in the EU and in every bit of screen time in which he's not flying uncontrolled through the air to get eaten like an idiot. The UE built him up and repaired that.

It does?

Clone Wars keeps sounding better and better...

The kid in episode 2 is a red herring. He died immediately after his father in the chaos of battle in episode 2. Tada.

He was previewed in a Holiday Special cartoon that came out before Empire, so I think they were vaguely aware that they were building up the legend of this character. He certainly was never a nobody background character.

If in the end they fast forward to whoever the new boba is climbing out the sarlac.... or even better somebody just picking up the armor and becoming the new boba post Sarlac digestion...... I will be ok with this

"Set in a separate movie universe"? You've gotta be fucking kidding me. They only just completely redefined the canon a few months ago, and now they are already traveling down the slippery slope of alternate universes? It wasn't enough to expunge the entire Expanded Universe to give room to tell more stories ?

Someone kills Boba and assumes his identity.

I think someone proposed that ages ago just after Episode II came out.

This would be interesting. That way the clone of Jango Fett would not have such a pathetic and lame demise in Episode VI.

His first introduction to the series shows him trying to get revenge on Windu for killing Jango, but of course he fails. Some time later, we see him as still young, but slightly more mature as a bounty hunter working as part of a team. There was going to be more episodes depicting him continually growing as a bounty hunter (and eventually donning the famous helmet) but unfortunately the series was cancelled before that could happen.

His ship has a cool name.

Never seen any hate for the character outside the internet, honestly.

I've met quite a lot of people who think he's pretty dumb. I mean you just need to watch his Robot Chicken segments to know this isn't one of those imaginary "goddamn hipsters being Contrarian" situations people love to use that gif on here for.

It's not going to fix the absolute shit way he died in RoTJ.

edit: someone already got on it lol

How you gonna do a Boba Fett origin when basically his entire origin's been played out over a movie and a couple seasons of television?

The only way you can do a Boba Fett origin is if you're doing a what-if, or relegating that previous stuff to what-if.

They only showed him as a little kid, just skip to him being an adult

Don't want this film at all. Rather see Boba Fett as a supporting character in a small role then a whole film with him

tap that thorax
An entire galaxy and we are always focusing on the handful of characters from OT. Nostalgia mining. I was hoping the spin-offs would focus on new characters and stories.

What if Boba Fett is just the name and whoever wears the suit takes it on

Think about it

Not too hard

But enough
