Still dont get the hype for this character. He was in the movie for like 10 minutes, never said anything and died in a desert. And then his reappearance in episode 2 was awful.

Just get Karl Urban to play a no name criminal who kills Clone Fett by chance and just steals his gear, ship & job. Never take the helmet off.

I'd rather have a Jango origin story tbh.

Boba's the most overrated character in the saga to me. I don't know how a guy who has literally 4 lines (not counting kid Boba) and only claims to fame are getting feisty with Vader and getting eaten like a dumbass by the Sarlacc became a beloved figure.

Let's be honest. People complain about people liking Boba Fett more than people actually go around saying they like him. There's no reason this can't be a good crime film set in the star wars universe.

They only showed him as a little kid, just skip to him being an adult

But that's not an origin story, though.

A Boba Fett movie can be good. No reason it can't be. But i'm not sure how you can make it an Origin story without either taking it out of continuity, or taking previous stuff out of continuity.

It's just a weird logistic thing. Ultimately it doesn't really matter so far as the storytelling goes.

Didn't he shoot a doodad that wrapped up Jedi Luke for a moment just before getting taken out to lunch?

That's notable.

But that's not an origin story, though.

TCW did nothing but show an angry kid who wanted to take revenge and fails at becoming a bounty hunter. The movie should focus on him being older and actually becoming the legend.

It's the same thing with Darth Vader in the prequels, we did not need to see almost any of that crap especially his younger antics to get to his real origin.

The legend of the man in the sarlacc? Is this the Star Wars version of Jonah and the whale?

Even Han Solo was terrified of Boba, you can here it in his voice when he turns around like a scared little bitch and accidentally strikes his rocket pack.

He was great in the few minutes of Empire, so mysterious and badass. Then they overexposed him and made him stupid. Let him rest in piece please.

Bounty Hunter origin.

Covered in the TV show, though.

Considering Sneider also reported the Anthology movies as taking place in a separate universe (they don't) I'm inclined to think he's just botching this detail, and it isn't an origin story at all. It's just a Boba Fett story.

Plus, I think people are forgetting that Boba Fett had a fanbase before dying in ROTJ. His role as a mysterious, menacing character was established in ESB. Vader of all people tells points at Boba Fett when telling the bounty hunters to not kill anyone on the Falcon. For audiences, that was enough to respect Boba Fett as a dangerous badass. Fans were upset that he went out the way he did in ROTJ. That death didn't negate the interest people had in the character before then.

We only saw part of his origin, there is a huge gap from TCW to the OT in what went on with Fett. He suddenly became competent and renown bounty hunter out of nowhere? No doubt they would have gone further with his origin in TCW if they had let them continue the show, the toys kinda hinted at it too.

It's like having Batman's origin stop at him being mad after his parents died. We still had lot more origin story to tell

never left the stone age
He had cool looking armor and a few bits of dialogue from or about him that hinted he was a badass, in total contrast to the one time we see him doing something other than standing around. That's....about it really.

He's pretty cool in the EU and in every bit of screen time in which he's not flying uncontrolled through the air to get eaten like an idiot. The UE built him up and repaired that.

Luke obviously force pushed Han from afar so he'd strike the jetpack, obviously. Boba Fett is 2 cool 4 school

Nah, it's more like "Wait, that guy's here too? No way! This I gotta see-" *smack*

Seriously, I love Boba Fett. He has the greatest ship and costume in the galaxy, but he's a pussy.

He was a pussy as a kid. His reaction to his dad dying is straight up pussy. He found Han by being a pussy, he was subservient to the Empire/Jabba like a pussy, he ties up Jedis like a pussy, and went out like one, too.

Jar Jar Binks earned more badassery during the Battle of Naboo than Fett did in the entire four movies he appeared in.

Jesus christ I think my brain just exploded.

I have always quested why Boba Fett is such a fan favorite?

I re-watched the original trilogy this past week and, really, my impression of The Fett was just as underwhelming as I remember.

He takes a bounty from Vader. Hangs out in the trash and tracks Solo. Takes Solo to Hutt. Then gets owned when he doesn't realize his jet pack is malfunctioning and dies without much fanfare.

Why is Boba Fett such a big deal? I'm convinced it has nothing to do with anything Fett actually does, it merely comes down to his costume. Its pretty badass.

edit: read thread. Glad I'm not the only one to notice this.

But we already have his origin story :p

Yeah.......... how are they going to make an origin story when it's already pretty much covered in AotC? I guess it'll be the kid growing up and becoming a bounty hunter? I'm super bummed about this news.

Assuming they'd have to include events and characters from the prequels how would that even work? It would be super weird having them cast someone who doesn't have the same voice/look as Jango.

And the cartoon also touched at least two points in his life. When he was still a pre-teen and attempted to murder Mace Windu, and being in prison while he was a teenager and a full blown bounty hunter after getting out.

Hopefully we get a Greedo origin story that end with him sitting down for drinks with one of his oldest friends.

An epic story of love, loss and betrayal, his kids dead, his wife hung for crimes she didnt commit, forced to bounty hunt for the man he suspected was behind it all. All he needed to do was this one job for Jabba, that might grant him an audience and the chance to end his reign, even if it meant his life.

After 2 hours of tracking his target, of mourning his loss, he sits down in the cantina

fade to black

Is bitching about people liking Boba Fett and saying "he was killed by a blind guy, guys!" going to be to Boba Fett threads as "Just watch the RedLetterMedia reviews" is to prequel threads?

If he was only in the movies for 10 minutes, obviously he needs an origin story.

And they're going to end up making like 40 of these Anthology films, so, your favorite side character will also get his/her due.

Frankly, I love Boba. He's rad.

Someone kills Boba and assumes his identity.

I think someone proposed that ages ago just after Episode II came out.

Yes, months ago, there was a rumor that Lawrence Kasdan wrote a story for a spin-off about Boba Fett and Boba was murdered and the new guy assumes his identity afterwards !

Hope it's true because that is very interesting and I haven't talk yet about the atmosphere with bounty hunters, and the disreputable places of the galaxy we can discover !

I think there was a Boba Fett game for GameCube and the first teaser had him like shooting in random directions all wild west style and was kinda goofy but also badass? I'd like that, a movie about him actually going out and running bounties, like a space western. Give us a reason to like him beyond his cool ship and outfit.
