Seems like most third-party developers will not support Switch 2

Why wouldn't 3rd parties be free to speak on ports? There were plenty of titles shown off this week with switch 1 logos.

I just think Nintendo dropped the ball and didn't give enough 3rd parties dev kits. My guess is that we are going to see massive lag with the number of 3rd party titles that we see on the switch 2. Nintendo seem to have focused their launch on a handful of games, Hogwarts, Cyberpunk, SF6 etc. to assure Nintendo fans that the S2 wouldn't just be a Mario machine.
I agree with you about the dev kits. 100%.

But, every year EA and 2k were not able to announce the annual sports games, even though we assume they were coming. Nintendo always announced them.

2025 third party arm crud ahahaha nintendo betters then all combine annnnnnnd i get elden ring dusk blood cyberpunk street fighter hitman yakuza red dead 2 game over

Somewhat, otherwise everybody would be making mobile games. There will be third party support but as already shown a lot of PS/PC type games will not have Switch versions because that crowd doesn't buy the same type of games or don't have established fanbases on that system for franchises yet so it's a little more complicated than just sales.
I agree, I just think it was silly for him to say sales have nothing to do with 3rd party support

But yes, it is more complicated than just sales

Did they get Dev kits late or something? Or switch 2 just not priority?

Considering blops 7 is coming out on last gen it should be easily possible on a switch 2.

That bodes terrible for Microsoft supporting Switch 2, they can't seemingly even be bothered to port over something they agreed 3 years ago in an agreement to port over. That just makes it clear that after that Cod port they are done with the Switch 2. I think the Xbox handheld means that they don't want to do anything that makes the Switch 2 more attractive at the expense of their Xbox handheld, so no support to Switch 2 will happen beyond a lacklustre CoD port they will only make because Phil Spencer 3 years ago signed a deal with Nintendo that he has regretted ever since.

I wonder if that has more to do with marketing deals. I.e — Nintendo, or Sony, or Microsoft have marketing rights to a specific game and therefore EA/2K cant talk about them. I would think that any title shown today with a PS5, Xbox, PC and Steam logo, it should have also had a Switch 2 logo if a Switch 2 version were in development.

''Lack of devkits'' just seems like cope. It reminds me of how we all thought Switch 1 would get strong third party support after the install base got higher and still everyone just continued skipping Switch.

Irrefutable evidence right here! More incredible insight from our resident analyst.

Things may not improve on the 3rd party front with the Switch 2 and we may just continue to see last gen ports, EA slop and Call of Duty, but I find it odd that we didn't see many Switch 2 3rd party announcements this week — if only to take advantage of limited completion with a new console launch.

My only explanation is that there weren't many S2 dev kits out there and we will start to see a few more 3rd party S2 announcements trickle in once when they finally start developing for the console.

I suspect it's the total opposite.

Considering the sales, intelligent developers will start focussing on the Switch instead of tired and uninspiring systems like PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Mobile.

It really doesn't make sense. The hardware was known and locked in YEARS ago. Not only that they managed to produce and stockpile millions of retail units.

The argument that devkits' are slow to reach developers is hard to believe unless Nintendo is just straight up incompetent.

People are looking for excuses. Honestly if it isn't the case that 3rd party announcements are being held back for a Direct in the next couple of months then it's not looking good imo.

ahahaha it already has more aaa then switch and switch sell 150 millions

From and Nintendos first party better thens the whole industries combine

So, out of the 100 or so games that got announced this week, how many got announced for Switch 2?

I just counted Final Fantasy Tactics. This is getting totally crazy.

Surprised at the lack of S2 ports announcements during this weekend. I'd bet it's because of a lack of dev-kits, because I had assumed that running an nvidia gpu capable of DLSS would make porting games way easier than before.

instead of tired and uninspiring systems like PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Mobile.
All thos platforms have already millions of users each. Don't see any intelligent developers ever ditching those.

A handful at most, and most of these are not relevant.

This console seems to be already dead in the water in terms of third party support and it just released. Crazy.

Wouldn't surprise me if third parties will focus much more on Xbox ROG Ally optimization of their games over Switch 2, they just seem to really hate Switch 2.

Yet, they don't.

While I'm not an insider, I would bet a cup of coffee that NS2 gets some big ports this Fall/Holiday. But I think most are older.

I'm not saying these are coming but these types of games make sense. Especially, Xbox One/Ps4 ports or older.

Assassins Creed Mirage, Killer Instinct 2016, Age of Empires, Goldeneye Remastered, Red dead 2, Elden Ring, Battletoads, Sunset Overdrive, Sea of thieves, COD MW2, Sandland, Dragon Ball.

Those types of games seem likely to me for 2025 on NS2

shadows already rate they are delumisal ahaha nintendos annonce direct

As a Switch 2 owner i'm feeling pretty good right now. This week i got 1 new game confirmed to come out on Switch 2 (Final Fantasy Tactics). Out of 200 announced games this week. You can't beat that level of third party support :messenger_winking:

Switch 2 will get significant 3rd party support from Japanese companies. It will get less but still decent Western 3rd party support. It will get massive indie support. Those arguing it will get terrible 3rd party support are just doing console war nonsense.

I think they all have Switch 2 dev kits but threw them in the trash once they got the PS5 Portable dev kit, so now they are focusing on that. Nintendo will not get 3rd party games next year at all, that's it, the well has dried. Even if they sell 200m they will not get 3rd party games ever, it's done, they are doomed. Again.

Also clear the Xbox ROG Ally will sell twice as much as much if not 3 times as much or maybe 4 even as Switch 2, and Nintendo will eventually port all their games to it as well.

Switch 1 didn't have great third party support despite its glowing sales so I have no reason to expect this go around to be any different.

It had significant 3rd party support. Especially Japanese. However, even Western Support was fairly decent compared to prior Nintendo systems. Switch 2 may actually be better if it is getting COD and EA sports titles.
