Seems like most third-party developers will support Switch 2

"Thanks to the strong support from these publishers, Nintendo Switch 2 has the largest third-party software lineup for a new Nintendo hardware ever."

Looks like a strong start for the new Nintendo console on the tp side!

This does not look like most 3rd party will support Switch 2.

More like the opposite.
The Switch 2 has received games from Capcom, Square Enix, EA, CD Projekt RED, Atlus, Ubisoft, SEGA, etc.

In addition, games have been announced from From Software, Take-Two, Microsoft, etc.

Third-party support is fine.

Great running/looking muliplats like Cyberpunk, Jedi Survivor and Resident Evil Requiem prove that, unlike Switch 1, the Switch 2 is more than capable of keeping up with its PlayStation counterpart.

You guys buy 3rd party games on Switch?
Your crazy in the coconut.

I think I have Diablo 3. Played the hell out of it on the Switch. Hell on the Switch.

So basically 1-2 games from each publisher. Thats not my idea of "most" 3rd party.
I don't think it makes sense, financially speaking, for these companies to port more than 1-2 games in such a short period. They'll end up cannibalizing their own sales if they do, especially considering the installed base of the Switch 2, which still has a lot of room to grow.

Well, I don't see that strong third-party support anywhere; just in the last few months, a lot of important releases have been lost. They still have a lot of work to do on this issue.

I don't personally have a reason to buy most 3rd-party games on the Switch 2, but this is still great news overall.

Like every generation after the SNES, some 3rd parties will release a game or two on the new Nintendo device, and after getting abysmal sales they'll move on and will go back to focus on high end consoles (and now PC).

And what about the problem with the keycards?
For third parties GKCs are not a problem, but a solution to high cart costs.
Any game releasing these days, they should have a Switch 2 port. With few exceptions.

Thats what I would consider "most" 3rd party would support.
Most doesn't have to mean nearly everything. There's still room to improve no doubt, but it's also a clear step up from the Switch and they are moving in the right direction.

Only if you ignore the generations where that didn't happen (including the last one).

If that were the case, most third parties would have abandoned the Switch — but that didn't happen. The only reason the Switch received less support was due to its hardware limitations, and even then, it still managed to get many titles that were once considered impossible for the system.

if you have any of the other consoles or a PC buying third party games on SW2 is just plain dumb. No ones buy Nintendo consoles to play third party games, nobody! Why would anyone want to play the worst version of a game. Oh yeah to play on the go! I have rarely seen anyone play with their switch on the streets, then again I am not around children at all.

So, where's COD: BO7, GTA6, FIFA, Battlefield 6, etc?

Space Marine 2, BG3, BoltGun 2, Halo CE, Forza, Jurassic World Evo 3 etc etc

My guess is that publishers don't want stagger their games. There is no reason why any of the games we've both mentioned wouldn't run on the Switch 2, so it's just a matter of time.

Also, FIFA is on the Switch 2 already.

Didn't they get dev kits late or something?

I imagine a lot of studios are having to realign their processes to include Switch 2. Between the newer Nvidia tech being used along with DLSS being available, I think there are more possibilities for third party games on Switch 2 than on the first Switch. Key cards probably helped in this regard as well.

Is this a good thing? I'm not so sure. Hopefully Switch 2 still gets third party love that it received before with games like Astral Chain and Triangle Strategy. If third party is dominated by games also available on other systems then that lessens the reasons in owning a Switch 2, imo.

The console is four months old, and Nintendo has been stingy with devkits as many have demonstrated before. Four. Months. Old. I don't think people grasp how young this system is.

I have a PS5 and a PC and I buy lots of third party games on Switch 2. Love collecting games for that console and play them there too, both on the go and at home. That´s the draw for me, the hybrid nature of it. It´s an awesome console. You should try it.

And what about the problem with the keycards?
What problem? How is it any different from PS5 and Series X requiring downloads and a good chunk of them now requiring Internet on first boot/always online? Just like Sony and MS, most first party games do not concede to this, and even better, are actually all on cartridge.

The other thing too is that several publishers have stated that the game cards are too slow compared to internal and SD express storage, which is why they're resorting to game key cards.

Good, but could be better in the future. Except for maybe CPU limited games, which are a rarity, we have the proof that anything running on series S can be ported in a nearly equivalent state on Switch 2, as illustrated with Star Wars Outlaw, FF7, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Resident evil 9 etc.

With Microsoft in the way out, I think the number of switch 2 third party games is going to significantly increase

A lot of the big publishers have the dev kits. GTA 6 and Battlefield 6 and every other "AAA" title will be on the Switch 2. Just a question of time.
No chance either of these games un on a switch 2.

EA already have said that bf6 magic moment was dropping PS4 & XBONE

"Maybe the only magic trick is that we're not on the PS4 or Xbox One any more," Christian Buhl, technical director on Battlefield 6, tells PC Gamer. "So we've kind of raised the floor of what we have in terms of memory and CPU speed, and so obviously raising that floor helps with improving performance overall."

No idea how they get either of these games going on 102GB/s bandwidth

How much bandwidth does the PS5 and Xbox Series X have?
