And Sega. And Namco Bandai.Capcom's and FromSoftware's success has been a wake up call to them.
Nintendo is paying for it's development, so I'd say it has about the same chances as the Bayonetta titles.I know Duskbloods is exclusive to Switch 2 but something tells me it's timed.
FromSoft owns the IP and is self publishing in Japan. There is a very reasonable chance it comes at least to PC, based on how similar past Nintendo deals have gone.Nintendo is paying for it's development, so I'd say it has about the same chances as the Bayonetta titles.
It's probably timed. What I mean by full console I mean not going on PC. Just sticking to one platform either Nintendo or PlayStation consoles. I know Duskbloods is exclusive to Switch 2 but something tells me it's timed.
WhatThey will soon realise that multiplatformism in itself is a barely significant asset on balance.
Even if it's timed, it negates the whole premise of this thread. They are still doing exclusives, even if they're timed. Death Stranding 2 is also timed exclusive. It's probably timed.
Miyazaki said before he doesn't want to exclude platforms anymore and with Sony buying more shares of Kadokawa and From it would be weird.
I assume it will release for the other platforms after a few months, and that Is probably a good thing since online games need an active playerbase to exist.
Where did you got From owns the IP? Also, what similar deals?FromSoft owns the IP and is self publishing in Japan. There is a very reasonable chance it comes at least to PC, based on how similar past Nintendo deals have gone.
Death Stranding 2 is the residue of a deal made over a decade ago, it is hardly a counterpointEven if it's timed, it negates the whole premise of this thread. They are still doing exclusives, even if they're timed. Death Stranding 2 is also timed exclusive.
Sony isn't going to pay for full exclusivity. Not even their own first party games are exclusive to PlayStation. Timed exclusivity maybe.Nah, I don't buy this. Both Sony and Nintendo will fund exclusives. Maybe it's over when it comes to those 3rd parties own decisions without backing. I could see that.
Perhaps but as stated before, I don't buy this as platforms will still hire out for exclusives timed or not.Death Stranding 2 is the residue of a deal made over a decade ago, it is hardly a counterpoint
The copyright notice only credits From in the Japanese videos. Nintendo is only credited in the western videos, where they are only listed as the publisher. In the Japanese listing, Nintendo has no attribution at all.Where did you got From owns the IP? Also, what similar deals?
I'm not sure this means From owns the IP.The copyright notice only credits From in the Japanese videos. Nintendo is only credited in the western videos, where they are only listed as the publisher. In the Japanese listing, Nintendo has no attribution at all.
Nintendo didn't fund these, it was a distribution deal.Nintendo made similar deals in the past, largely with Square (Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, Bravely Default) and Capcom (Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories).
I'd say It's more similiar to Astral Chain, Bayonetta, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Games Nintendo not only distribute but contracted the developers to produce. The Duskbloods deal seems most similar to those ones.
Nintendo is paying for its development, so I'd say it has about the same chances as the Bayonetta titles.
I think we will need to see what kind of deal this is closer to, because the Platinum games are definitely a good point I didn't consider. I don't think Nintendo will have paid enough to keep it exclusive forever, but who knows! But you definitely raised some good points for sureI'm not sure this means From owns the IP.
Regardless, Nintendo contracted them to make the game and they own that even if they didn't own the IP (as happens with the bayo games).
Nintendo didn't fund these, it was a distribution deal.
I'd say It's more similiar to Astral Chain, Bayonetta, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Games Nintendo not only distribute but contracted the developers to produce.
Even Platinum Games had to retrieve rights from Nintendo when they decided to re-release the Wonderful 101 just by themselves. Because Nintendo owned the product.
It's nonsense. He's salty about every game coming to PC besides Nintendo ones. What

I'm pretty sure he is implying that he wants things to flip in the other direction to PC-only (or Steam only) exclusives. What
AI will significantly reduce game development cost in several years.
I wonder how this impacts the market. On the one hand it will lead to the growth of a number of small independent developers.
On the other hand competition will rise as well.
The less exclusives the better. Games should be available everywhere.
Rise of the Robin and Rebirth are both on PC. What I meant by full console exclusive is never showing up on PC or other platforms and third party.Sony just released Rise of the Ronin and FFVII Rebirth last year. You can't play those anywhere else (console wise). Death Stranding 2 will be console exclusive to PS5 this year. Kojima is working on another Playstation title as we speak. Nintendo will have those as well.
I'm not sure where you got that information.
Yup, I used to love consoles because of the level of optimization for their hardware you could get with games. Shit like MGS3, RE4, God of War 2… we don't get that these days where everything is made for uniform hardware using uniform dev tools. The last example of this I remember is Tears of the Kingdom which seemed to push the Switch beyond anything I'd considered possible before, and that was than 2 years ago (and for an 8 year console).Disagree. Ideally games should be tailored to the capabilities of their target platform.
The problem we have now is that with so many titles using middleware solutions that rarely happens. Its basically one-size-fits-all with minimal adjustments made for any platform.
I think it can shake up the entire market and lead to consequences that we can't predict now.You think this will entail console third party exclusives with a.i?
No, he wants them to stop porting games to PC.I'm pretty sure he is implying that he wants things to flip in the other direction to PC-only (or Steam only) exclusives.
A pipe dream that requires Nintendo and Sony to be fully irrelevant in gaming.
FF VII Rebirth wasn't released on PC when it first relased. Same for Rise of the Ronin. And Death Stranding 2 next.Rise of the Robin and Rebirth are both on PC. What I meant by full console exclusive is never showing up on PC or other platforms and third party.
Ah, so he meant 'they' as in the console manufacturers. For some reason that sits better with me than a PC bro being hypocritical lol.No, he wants them to stop porting games to PC.
Bayonetta's are third party still on switch and not PS or PC. Demon Souls Remake is still on PS5 and not on PC. There's still a few but dwindled.FF VII Rebirth wasn't released on PC when it first relased. Same for Rise of the Ronin. And Death Stranding 2 next.
What do you mean by "full console exclusive"? All PS consoles exclusives from PS1 and PS2 days are everywhere like GTA, Devil May Cry, older FF titles, Resident Evil games etc. There isn't such a thing as "full console exclusive" as an eternal thing. They will always end up everywhere once these deals expire.
Isn't a third party exclusive game releasing in a few weeks or so? Probably timed too but still this has been the case for a long time, no?What I mean by full console I mean not going on PC. Just sticking to one platform either Nintendo or PlayStation consoles. I know Duskbloods is exclusive to Switch 2 but something tells me it's timed.
Which one...?Isn't a third party exclusive game releasing in a week or so? Probably timed too but still this has been the case for a long time, no?
I think timed exclusives will become increasingly rare. Seems like the benefit of a full multi platform launch is exceeding whatever Sony and Nintendo are willing to pay for the timed exclusivity.
But I think we'll continue seeing exclusives were a Japanese developer works as a "second party" (as in the game is actually funded and published by Sony/Nintendo, but it's developed by an external studio)
