Just beaten Eswat today...in one sitting no less. Stage 5 pissed me off, but besides that and a few bosses, it wasn't that difficult, but I feel it's cheap at times with it's difficulty, and I hate that it has persistent health, oh well, it's still a great game. And yes I did use a continue to beat it, though I rather not in future playthroughs.

More thoughts: The final boss wasn't that hard, felt anti-climatic even. The 3rd stage boss annoyed me more than most bosses, lol.

I did normal so I have to try on hard which from what I seen doesn't give you as much health as on normal and easy.

Got to level 5 of E-Swat. The stair "puzzle" can kiss my ass. Lost all 5 lives on it.
Just jump on the down arrows, that's pretty much it.

My official Genesis M1 power cord arrived today and yep - no more audio buzz. Glad I caught this before it became a real issue.

yeah, i saw i lot of after market cords and stuff when hunting for my genesis and snes but i tried to find listings w oem stuff bc of things like that happened to me in the past.

Yeah I'm going to be doing Eswat on Hard. On hard, you have 2 health bars in the 1st 2 stages, 4 bars in Stages 3-6, 5 bars in Stage 7 and a bit more in the last stage.

I beat level five boss today. The sewer level was too much for me. I'm not sure what to do with everything flying around on screen

damn//// you guys are tackling this game early!

I beat E-Swat around new years. The damn elevator with the oozes still pisses me off. I never figured out how to get through that without taking massive damage.

ah, is that what it does? that's actually kinda interesting, might try that soon!

yeah, it can be rough...use the power shot on like everything, and stay on the lover level, creeping along to advance the screen. you should be able to hit missile launchers & goo monsters/etc before they get you if you time it right; if you just use the super machine gun thing, aim high on the launchers first to not get hit

It's...not that bad of a stage. Using Super and P.C. is the way to go and take it slow. The boss might annoy you though.

exactly this - super is the way to go to keep the goo off your back, are you talking about the slow rising one with the fingers pointing out of the goo & shooting at you? if so, stay low & away from them, keep firing and you should take minimal shots. they show up a few seconds before firing to help you position!

boss can be cake too: hover to blast the top & middle spots, stay there & toss missiles at the bottom one. again you can cheese most bosses & win without taking a hit if you just find the zone, here it's just above where the creeping monsters he keeps making can reach!

You should, but be warned, do not get hit by the final boss...not even once...or else you're pretty much dead, because on the last stage you have 8 bars of health and the boss's final attack does 6 damage(and it's virtually unavoidable), and his regular shots does 2, so yeah.

not necessarily if you cheese finish him by hovering in the top-right corner & lobbing missiles so he (sometimes) takes his last hit & uses the fire weapon on the bottom rung, away from you!

don't judge me bro, i plat soul games because it's not a glitch, it's a feature etc etc

I...did not know that, that sounds useful actually.
While I don't plat games I do enjoy playing and beating the Souls games!!!

Nice, I'm going to have to tackle Eswat myself over the next week or two. I played through both Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi 3 back to back yesterday and it was fantastic.

Mainly been playing various shmups on the Genesis and it's particularly nice not pulling out my old cartridges every time I want to play. I can't say enough good things about the Mega Everdrive; probably one of my happiest gaming purchases ever. It doesn't seem to advertise this specifically but the fact that it means so much less wear and tear on the cartridge slot is fantastic :) You just leave it in there permanently without any issue.

So I beat E-Swat on Hard(after numerous tries), and it's best for huge fans of the game or hardcore gamers. Having less health in each stage makes it so that a few mistakes can end you at any time, so unless you can put up with that it's not recommended if you don't master it somehow, because there's little room for error for the most part.

I'll have a youtube playthrough up tomorrow.

I was going to post these earlier but I don't have a lot of free time & simply forgot. But if I can find them and have the tim I'll post scans of the GOTM. Anywho, here is a Pro View from GamePro September 1990 issue #14. Enjoy!

I actually really like Stage 5 in ESWAT outside of the potential to get weirdly stuck in damaging walls. The burner is really satisfying to use and that's the level that, up to that point in the game (I haven't beaten the stage yet), has you flex it the most.

I know, I don't even have mine yet!
I got my sealed Sub Terrania though!
that was fast!

This is my E-SWAT playthrough on hard

TBH, it was sloppy in parts, like getting stuck in some places, almost dying in most stages, making mistakes I should had avoided, etc. It's surprising how well I did considering that I rushed it. Glad I still 1CC'd it though in a few days.

Nice job! I'm just about to start the game up with my coffee.

And first boss down; gotta like that boss music. The Mega Turrican-ish perspective is slightly irritating, but doesn't seem to be a problem so far. Stage 3 Spoiler:
Had no knowledge that I would get to change into a mech suit; very nice.

And finished. Pretty fun (if a few frustrating areas) and short experience.

I picked up some games locally today. Got a loose copy of Blades of Vengeance. This game is pretty good. I like the original EA effort. I would like to try the two player for sure. Good buy to me since the prices for this game are all over the place right now.

I also got Terminator CIB. Not a huge one, more of an impulse buy. Seems OK. Not as good as the Sega Cd version which I already have.

Am I the only one that gets nauseous from the strobing laser fences in the prison on Stage 2? I'm sure it's just me.

it depends on the size of the TV and how close i'm viewing it coupled with how high the contrast is up. but i get sick if the contrast too to bright and the screen is too big, if i'm sitting up close lol

portal at 60 fps just destroys me.

Tried that 3rd boss and died all 5 times. Lol. I used rockets, but since you only can fire 2 at a time until they disappear off screen, I died. And losing your equipt weapon sucks. If I can 1cc The Adventures of Batman & Robin, I should be able to kick this games ass. LOL

Time your rockets, make sure the 2nd one hits him as soon as he's about to do the shield attack. Also if you default to shot before you die, you don't lose any of the weapons you gained.

I posted this in the SNES thread but nobody replied.

Are there ever certain games that you see and it makes you think of another, totally unrelated game, maybe even one for another console?

For me, it was these two games: Dahna for the Mega Drive and Musya: The Classic Japanese Tale of Horror for the SFC/SNES.

Just one of those odd things I guess.

Here's an unrelated question: I'm in the need for a replacement cover for Megadrive Rocket Knight Adventures, but there's no PAL version on Coverproject. Could any owner of the PAL version do a quick scan of theirs in good quality?

finally: saved the best for last! <3 my genesis, though i'll cop to Centy, MUSHA (ugh, i swear i had this one!), Pulseman, Alien Soldier, Monster World IV (english), MM: Wily Wars and i think Punisher being repros, all before i got my Mega ED. rest of it's legit though!
