SEGA teases Bayonetta + Steam, countdown to April 11

April fools... But if this is true, finally where getting Bayo 1 with locked 60fps, no dips. Now about that Vanquish port...

I don't think Nintendo ever owned Rare's games. Nintendo published them but Rare held the rights.

Well, you're both right: ownership of Kazooie, Tooie, Killer Instinct and Blast Corps was split; Rare owned Perfect Dark, Conker and Jet Force Gemini; and Nintendo of course owned the games based on Nintendo properties. Then there's the outlier in the form of Mickey's Speedway, which is Disney's.

That's not an excuse though. I mean, sure, considering the age, you have more people likely to have finished the game (I did). But on a thread about a release on a platform that didn't get said release, I think that's a bit more sensible.

Ok fine, I'll spoiler tag it.

This is great news.
For me Bayonetta was always the superior game.
In Bayo 2 it felt like most of the game was just one set piece moment after another with very little regular gameplay. In the first game it felt like you had a actual game where you explored stages and fought regular enemies of different sizes and set pieces sprinkled in between to break the game up and add a little variety.
Set pieces don't work if that is all you have, you need to have a actual game first!

Like one or two skateboard levels in Turtles in Time is a nice break from the regular stages in that game, but if over half the stages were skateboard stages it wouldn't be much fun.

They did. Nintendo even owned the Banjo-Kazooie trademark (unlike the Bayonetta trademark) and the game code for example. That's why they got so much when they sold Rare; they also sold all of the trademarks and the rights to the games which did not include characters originally created by Nintendo.

Banjo-Kazooie

Nintendo owned the trademarks for Banjo-Kazooie and Killer Instinct. All other Rare IP was owned by Rare.
Yeah but the IP is distinct from the game code and scenarios. Nintendo didn't own the 007 IP but they still blocked the release of a 360 port because they did own the code/scenario. So my question is who owns the code/scenario of Bayonetta 2?

The image in the background is from Bayonetta 1
The site was linked from the April Fools Bayonetta flash game Steam achievements images
That flash game has "Bayonetta finally comes to PC" on its description.

The announcement is going to be a PC port of the real thing. It's happening.

The "Bayonetta finally comes to PC" may be referencing the character herself coming to PC in the form of 8-bit Bayonetta. I am not saying its not coming to Steam, but I think we should wait for official announcement.

Nintendo owns the code.

Didn't realize nothing I played in 2 was actual gameplay.

Nintendo as far as we know.

That'd be far fetched indeed.. but it's SEGA. Which means: Take extra caution :p
Even taking into consideration that it's SEGA, there's just too many pieces for it to not be happening, between the teasing of consoles to PC ports throughout the past year, the 8-bit game and the countdown in its achievements...

It's pretty amazing that a thread about Bayonetta finally (potentially, I guess) coming to PC got derailed by Bayonetta 2 port begging. Well no, it's not that amazing because all the previous threads ended up this way too. Bayo2 port begging never got curbed like port begging is supposed to on this forum which is why the absolute crud have come to show their asses.

This is a thread about Bayonetta eventually coming to PC
Now people are arguing wether that will maybe include the second game as well

I don't see the issue

Port-begging =/= discussing the feasibility of a future port
Meanwhile, your whining doesn't add anything to this topic at all.

I meant Bayo 2 felt like it had very little actual regular gameplay where you explored stages and fought regular enemies. It felt like fight epic fight boss on a plane to fight epic boss battle in the air without much of a regular stage between.

If this is for real I'm beyond excited. Bayonetta was my favorite of the last generation, finally being able to play it at a locked 60 (not holding my breath for higher refresh rates) would be amazing.
I also haven't played it in ages, so even if I finished it like 10 times back in the day I would totally replay it today.

I don't see how it's that amazing. We don't even have an announcement, this is literally a thread about speculating about Bayonetta on PC; discussing the possibility of a port of either game is not against the rules or anything.

Not sure if the thread title edit was really necessary given that the countdown site really makes it pretty obvous.

lol that's kinda trolly

I mean, it's just pointing out the joke they already made really. We just noticed it pretty early.

Using the minigame as a teaser for Bayo coming to PC is some really savvy PR work though.

It is necessary because of April Fools. If this was another day, I would be 100% on it.
Considering the day, considering SEGA, even them linking to a countdown website through a flash mini game on Steam, we're not out of the trolling territory.

I'd say if the countdown doesn't mysteriously disappear tomorrow, we're good :P
But then again, never count on Sega.

Its needed because the teaser site could mean anything. Maybe bayonetta anime coming to PC, bayonetta amiibo and stuffs. Remember The World Ends With You countdown site? Everyone thought its a sequel announcement, yet it ended up being a mobile port.

Sega, please.

My heart is already broken into hundreds of pieces for your lies about PC ports...

Please, stop it.

But, if there is anything true in this story, I will love you forever..
. Again.

It could mean anything only in a Schrödingerian sense. There's a lot of smoke pointing to this fire.

But if this is true (which all signs point to), it means that they weren't lieing about PC ports?
