Sounds neat. But it's doesn't really sound like a Shining Force title, does it?gamesarefun.com said:Max, from the original Sega Genesis Shining Force, will return in Neo as the main character. The game; however, will be an all-new, 3D title, not a remake. Battles will take place in real-time; the player will control Max, and the rest of the characters in the party will be A.I.-controlled. Also, battles will be initiated just by walking up to an enemy and attacking, like in Kingdom Hearts; there won't be a separate battle screen.
Source: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/572/572357p1.htmlAs producer Youichi Shimosato (previous work as director on Shining Force III) explains to the magazine, the game was originally meant to be a simulation RPG like the classic Shining Force games. The team felt that it wasn't enough to simply take the original gameplay systems from the old titles and make the jump to 3D visuals. They at first considered adding realtime simulation elements to the game, but determined that this wouldn't work too well for the home market. One thing lead to another, and Shining Force Neo became an action RPG.

Yep. PS2 neess more good ARPGs.... NIS and Square Enix (Front Mission) already have SRPGs covered well enough.Amir0x said:I'd still hit it.
sonic4ever said:The Shining Force games are great.....Thier has been Good Shining Force games in the last 5 years. You obvioulsy have never Played Shining Force 3 on the Saturn or Shining Force 3 Part 2 and 3 from Japan, if you think thier hasn't been a good Shining force in awhile. Also, the Remake of Shining Force 1 for the GBA is a good game.
Mejilan said:But, to be fair, the ARPG Shining games have ranged from mediocre to downright shit. When they announced a new SHINING FORCE for the PS2 (at the same time they announced Shining Tears), it was assumed, rightfully so, that one (Tears) would be an ARPG and the other (Force) would go back to its SRPG roots.
It's sad that they both turned out to be ARPGs, and the only one to actually be a SRPG was the third one to be announced, the admittedly well done (if too easy) GBA remake of the original SF.
