I was going to post about that. WTF the Switch 2 demo looks ass. It is probably the Switch version. It can look that bad; it's very pixelated and the resolution is low. I tried the PS5 version, and it looks way better. Is there switch version sub720p? Looks shimmery and pixelated on my switch 2
Which sick-ass 2D ninja action platformer is feeling better?!

Both are bangers but I would lean Shinobi if I had to pick.I don't know. All I've played are the demos but based on that alone, I've bought both.
It's got the flash look and the demo isn't great either. The art style can be opinable at times, but this is all hand animated which is the polar opposite of flash.
Something "flash-animated" would be Salt and Sanctuary, which relies on rotation and modifications of sprites, more than actual different sprites for every animation frame.
I'm playing on my Switch 1 and it looks beautiful on an OLED screen.Shinobi- Why is yet another great game releasing without a Switch 2 version?
Switch 2 owners are already getting shafted. Ragebound, 30 fps. Devs didnt think to include an unlocked fps option.
So many games releasing at suboptimal resolutions too because who knows, dev kits? Either way it sucks and shouldnt be the case.
Shinoni looks like crap compared to Switch Oled ive tested both versions. Fuck this shit. Where are the Switch 2 upgrades for all these Nintendo games too?
Console gaming sucks these days because they all do the bare minimum effort thinking sales will be fine anyway and console gamers don't push back outside formums like this and reddit.
We buy these expensive new systems and have to grovel, hoping the new hardware will be updated in order to run games better
Ragebound plays very differently to Shinobi though. I suggest you try the demo to see the differences!Okay after playing Ragebound I'm now super hyped about any game like Ragebound and now want this day 1.

Am I the only one who isn't feeling this game? I know a lot has changed since the last 2D Shinobi game, but it just doesn't have the feel of the Genesis games to me. Glad everyone else is enjoying it though.
Gott ask though, what exactly is that shopkeeper supposed to be?
I think this new Shinobi game as a character action game.No.
Probably people are screaming over this and how great it looks.
Cool though, but this is not Shinobi at all. Its more like a try hard cool looking brawler. Its ok if people like to smash combos and incoherent mechanics, but this has nothing to do with what Shinobi is. Its like making a kart racing game and say thats a Shinobi game.
I think this new Shinobi game as a character action game.
Based on the demo I wish it had a more refined and clear vision with its mechanics.
I will give the demo another chance and see what I think about it.
As I understand it there were several different teams developing SoR4 or they split up into several teams after SoR4. When you go to the Steam page of SoR4 you can see there is three developers listed for the game: Dotemu, Guard Crush and Lizardcube. And I totally think theres no problem in that. But the people behind it probably lost focus and got way too excited over the sucess of SoR4 when created this game.
Finally played the demo, loved it. Did everything to do in the demo including S ranking arcade mode.
Any excuse to play more.Sweet. Shows a lot when you're S clearing a demo. It's a lot of fun.
Those platforming rooms were so fun....and they're already like that on just stage 1.These platforming challenge rooms are kicking my ass. Time to pull these boot straps.

Dudes. I talked shit on the art in this game and honestly, it looks gorgeous in motion. I stand corrected!
More importantly, this demo is fucking REALLY good. The game just feels super good and the level design is great. I can't say if it's "real Shinobi" as I never really played those but what this game is doing is polished as fuck. Everything feels fun and looks killer. The execution move and super move (Ninjutsu??) look SO cool. Music is great, sound design is juicy.
Easy 9/10 for the demo alone so far. Big thumbs up.
This game is amazing.
Do people actually just want the same old Shinobi gameplay and mechanics but with modern graphics? If so, some of you guys are fuckin insane.
Yeah, it's absolutely unreasonable to expect a game developed in 2025 to have the same gameplay and mechanics as a 32 year old game.Shinobi 3 is the best 2D action game ever made so it's not unreasonable to want more of that.
This new one is mighty fine on its own, anyway, as different as it may be.
Well thought out gameplay mechanics do not age.Yeah, it's absolutely unreasonable to expect a game developed in 2025 to have the same gameplay and mechanics as a 32 year old game.

The game is not being released in a vacuum. It has competition. It's going up against other modern 2D action games. Today's gamers, especially young/modern gamers who are accustomed to modern game mechanics and style will expect the same from any game.
Shinobi 3 is the best 2D action game to this day.
This take does not line up 1:1 with this footage:This new one goes full beat em up
Yeah, in the demo level kunai 1 hits the weakest enemy (white ninja), and kunai and heavy attacks do a lot of execution gauge build up below enemies health bars. 2 kunais put most enemies into execution state, I just added extra hits for combo build up since I was unsure how much it adds to your results score. Also had the gear equipped that buffed damage once you reach 15 combo. This take does not line up 1:1 with this footage:
EitherTheDuskwalker is playing completely differently than others in this thread, or he is playing it the correct way and everyone else is playing it as a regular beat em up.
I need answers, because from footage I see 1-hit kunai kills along with what looks like a 'charge/kill' system that instakills larger enemies, which is something very close to Shinobi PS2.
