Black Myth: Wukong comes to Xbox August 20th 2025

Why is everybody going "wahhhh Sony top secret exclusivity deal" Instead of being happy the game is getting a Xbox release?
IV2mV2.gif

So the theory is that a mediocre souls clone from an unknown mobile game dev from a continent where Xbox is non existent had a secret exclusivity deal with Sony and Sony didn't even get the publishing rights or the marketing rights for the game?

Right...
Sony is living rent free on some people's heads in this forum.

I guess every Asian game that's doesn't release day one on Xbox is part of this Sony/Asian devs conspiracy against Xbox, it has absolutely nothing to do with install bases or Xbox (lack of) popularity in the devs home market.

Because 'they' had to set the narrative quickly in this thread before it turned into something else about its late arrival (Series S bashing probably). Series S got an update recently that freed memory. BG3 Patch 8 came just this April (1.5 years later) but Game science now releasing the game (with similar problems to BG3) on their chosen date is a giant conspiracy that they can't explain why it would be hidden in the first place. Could you imagine if MS hadn't backtracked on their parity policy and BG3 released 1.5years later just this April? Same thing probably and some crap about an "extension" or something.

Sony had a timed exclusivity deal on the Series Shitbox ram allocation.

Everybody knows that the Xbox SDK has a button saying "Port and compile PS5 version to XSX/XSS". Devs only have to press it, go eat and sandwich and when they return the job is done, just burn the disc and send to the press.

It's obviously something shady going on in the background!

I believe Series S sucks outside of a streaming device for Gamepass and it holds back next gen games

Plus I believe Sony helped get the game running on PS5 when help was asked Sony came through and Xbox did not

In turn I also believe there was some sort of handshake under the table

In the end I also don't much care because I game everywhere and played it on PC

Decipher that one warriors, Xbot or Pony, which am I in this shitpost?

lol....hell man, depending on who is saying it........"shitpost" could be a compliment.

The Sony defence force that are permanently on alert, as shown in this thread?

I loved Wukong.

Nioh 2 fans, if you love that game as much as life you owe it to yourself to try Wukong.

Nioh 2 is my favorite game so I know how Wukong will hit for you and you don't wanna miss it.

Wukong is hard as shit. Don't let pride talk convince you it isn't. Game is fucking rock hard but you will have a great time if you are a Nioh 2 person. Good difficulty scale and the game keeps ramping up throughout. Gets really tough about halfway thru. Most people who you will hear comment on the game didn't make it that far. My brother beat Sekiro but would not finish this. Offers an excellent meta game with imho slighly more/better upgrades than Lords of the Fallen. I'd set it just below Dark Souls 3 and slightly above Lords of the Fallen and Lies of P in pantheon quality. Performance was rough on PS5 when I played but I think they ironed a lot of that out. I'd give it a solid 9/10 now that I heard they patched in a map(my only complaint). Good times.

Imagine living in 2025 and still believing anything Jez has to say.
To be fair to Jez, it can't be easy following a company with a track record as bad as Microsoft.

They are incapable of picking a lane and when they try to pick a lane, they mess it up.

I do hope that he is correct in that MS intends to fix WIndows for gaming.

Such an unsuccessful company is Microsoft 🤔🤣

Nice, we usually think about pizza too late to make our own dough (2 hours for it to rise is too long for my fatass) but when we do it awesome.

No it isn't a pure action game. Stop with this shit. Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta are pure action games. This is an action RPG where shit like stats, gear, and character build make a huge difference and you can trivialize the game. NG is just git gud. You can't fraud your way unless you choose easier modes.
So like God of War 2018 and onwards right? ....

A game can have souls elements and not be SOULSLIKE.

There is not enough punish in these games for them to be considered Souls.

Also I don't remember any Souls where in NG+ I one shotted every boss fight. I did in this game. Piss easy.

Yes.
A game can have souls elements and not be SOULSLIKE.
When it has 80%+ of the core elements, How is it not one? As I was telling Buggy Loop.

-Challenging combat
-Emphasis on 1v1 (or limited number of enemies) combat and separating enemies (so no destroying 10 enemies at once)
-Slow-paced combat light on combos and moveset (added this from you)
-Souls (xp) retrieval
-Stamina management
-Slow and limited healing that requires careful timing
-Minor mobs respawning upon death
-Bonfire/checkpoint system
-RPG mechanics
-Cryptic story often told non-linearly
-Cryptic quest design
-Multiplayer (optional)

So how many boxes must it tick to be a Soulslike? At one point does it become one?

There is not enough punish in these games for them to be considered Souls.
I'd argue Souls games haven't been particularly punishing since Dark Souls II where the bonfire became overabundant and most bosses have a bonfire or checkpoint right before them. It makes retrieving your xp trivial whereas in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, you had to go through hell to get it back.
Also I don't remember any Souls where in NG+ I one shotted every boss fight. I did in this game. Piss easy.
If you wanna argue broken builds, Souls games offer much more flexibility and thus it's way easier to completely break the game in them. In the OG, I could facetank everything and 2-4 shot most bosses with a Havel's set + maxed out Claymore.

He finished Sekiro but not this? Jesus, that's not very encouraging because I am total shit at Sekiro, I couldn't get the parrying down. But Wukong isn't really much about parrying though, is it? Because otherwise it might not be my jam after all.

Nowadays I'm not super big on extremely challenging games.

The mechanics in Wukong don't revolve around parrying. It's useful, but not mandatory. If you're semi-competent at dodging and reading movesets, you should be good. There are some skill-check bosses though.

I suck at rolling to avoid attacks in Souls games, so.....well, it's not sounding very hopeful, lol. And hearing it has bosses with multiple phases really puts me off too.

Everything else seems great to me. A demo would be perfect. Or if Xbox was still dependable with refunds I'd consider buying it, trying it out and ask for a refund after having played it for a few minutes or so.
