Is this something like what you're looking for?

Hmm... unfortunately, I'm in the US and they won't ship there :(

But yes, that sort of desk is along the lines of what I want. I'm a little worried about how it'll look on carpet, as I have sort of beige carpeting... the modern look should match my other stuff for sure, though. And yeah, I'm planning on using cable ties liberally. I know how shitty glass desks look if they aren't well-managed.

CB2 has a pretty good looking one. If your budget is higher, DWR has some beautiful pieces. Sadly, Design Within Reach is actually out of my reach.

Lol, who the hell's reach is that within?

I should've clarified: I'm a law student :(

I mean, it doesn't have to be dirt cheap, but ideally under $500. Can go a bit above if it's really worth it.

Blurtastic iPhone shots incoming!!

My set up in my apartment at school is pretty basic. And by basic, I mean a 24-inch ASUS monitor and my Xbox on top of a semi-busted filing cabinet I bought at a Goodwill store that I usually keep by my bed but is currently situated in front of my desk. It's nothing special to be sure, but I'm pretty happy with it, which is why I'm posting this, I guess!

Before anyone asks, yes, my bed is a kiddie pool filled with pillows.

wow...strange design. Kiddie pool next to a fireplace? How big is that apartment? Does i have its own kitchen or bathroom?

Where did you get that stand for your headphones? Link?

Late response, but that's a towel rack from Bed Bath & Beyond. They don't have it on the BBB website, but Amazon has it-

Towel Stand

Damn it. The bronze one would look so much better with my setup.

Stop showing off your Vancouver view. I mean seriously. You're making me want to give up my US citizenship and move up the road from Seattle to Vancouver.

What I'm trying to say is I'm jealous.

Might as well post this here since it's what i have going on atm. Excuse the crappiest pic ever.

Messy as hell, been working a lot, should clean up soon.

Broke up with the GF and she took the Wii (we'll be sharing it). So PC and handhelds it is.

Looks clean but does all that light behind your monitor just drive your eyes nuts? I know tis a struggle to get your monitors away from glare but I can't even use a light behind my monitor w/o it sort of hurting my eyes.

I have to use ambient light to the side of my screen.

Wait, what? That really cute one? Or was that Snuggler... I always get you and Snuggler confused...
Wait... you just posted pics of a new girlfriend less than a week ago... WTF is going on!

AHHH! It is you! You had like the hottest girlfriend in all of GAF!

Is that the Optima HD20? My friend just bought one. Who's the picture quality and how big is your screen?

No, it's the EPSON TW3200 :)

The picture quality is very good, I am projecting to a wall, but I am still very happy with the image. The size depends on your setting. In mine I get from 105'' to 130'' depending on the image format :)

Alright, I'm sorry to keep asking dumb questions here, but you guys know what you're doing and I'm just an idiot.

So in my pursuit to get a computer desk, I found this:

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/desks/pilsen-48"-desk/s575286

I saw it in the store, and it looks good IRL. But I really want an L-shape desk, so what I was thinking about doing was buying two of those, and then sticking those in an L shape. So would that look too ghetto? I know that if the sides were completely closed off on the desks, it'd look absolutely stupid... but I feel like this would be fine. Save me from myself, GAF!

Chac,

What's wrong with this one - http://www.staples.com/Z-Line-Legac...Furniture:L_Desks/Corner_Desks:727061:SP230KR

It's much cheaper than what's been discussed. I have one myself but had to condense it when we needed to use more space (I removed the L part). It works well...

I did see that one, but it just didn't do it for me. I'm ideally looking for something with a really thick piece of glass on top, and the way the frame looks isn't quite what I'm going for.

Since I have it, I can tell you the glass is 1/4" thick (roughly). It's pretty good. As for the cheapness of the metal, it's lasted at least 3 years for me and that's with me taking it apart and modifying it.

As for the overall look of it, it does seem cheap, but if you have a Staples that has a display model, you might want to check it out.

Did you not like the one I linked at CB2? It has two pieces (sold separately) that can form an L.

I do, but I'm weighing my various options. Most of the ones I've looked at that I've liked have just been standard desks that I'd need to buy two of to form an L... I'm just trying to figure out if it'd still look good if I put 'em in an L without any space between them.

Admittedly this picture is old (Judging by the Dashboard) but it hasn't changed since this photograph was taken. (Not Pictured: N64 in the cabinet below)

Also I keep the classic systems separate.

Nice digs. After you get a coffee table, get some plants. Bring some life into the place. Then get something on your walls.

Fuck man why does North Virginia have to be so expensive to find a place in North Virginia. I'd love to have my own setups like you guys.

Those of you with projectors, mind giving me some opinions/advice? Looking into buying one, and posted a thread about it (here), but it proved to be a not so popular topic. :P

Any advice via PM or a reply to that thread would be greatly appreciated. It's a very expensive purchase, so looking for some input before I take the plunge. Thanks.

Added some new stuff and replacing all generic boring posters with really awesome high quality prints, non framed at the moment because I dont have the money to invest in just a frame for each poster. That Raynor Standee needs to GTFO, working on getting a friend to pick it up, takes up to much damn room. Picked up a cheap DVD rack at Best Buy, and a cheap headset stand from Home Depot(thank you Cans thread).

I posted up in your thread. I can try and help you out with more. I was in a rush earlier as I was heading out.

My prized Ibara and Ibara Black Label PCBs. Currently unplayable since all my cabinets are in storage. In the process of building a supergun so I can play them here in euroland:

Any cheap shelves you guys reccomend? I'm starting to run out of space, though I don't plan to live in this location for too much longer.

Yes Boss, I'm not sure why you took so many pictures when all that really matters is Battle Garegga.

And the dude who asked about shelving, Billy Bookcases from ikea. They're cheap and they're solidly built while looking classy.

You guys have an excellent taste for furniture, really. I' going to use this thread for inspiration.

I'm about to get married, and we already have a house. It is very small, but it's fully paid. No rent, no mortgage...

I'm still undecided if we should stay there and just add another floor in the future or invest in a new house.
