Verendus said their is a JRPG in Japan Studio but it is very early in development and a long way out. No ban is deserved here.
More like it would be super hard for the PS4 to do PS3 BC.
I think its more of Cell being an issue.
Those are first party projects and SONY always acknowledges them as so. More than half of SONY's first-party games come from contract studios.

Disappointed about the BC. Lots of ps3 games I would like to give a look personally. Tons of people came to ps4 from the 360. Seems like a missed opportunity especially since MS proved it's possible.

Believe it or not, the cell is still crazy powerful. The PS3 was extremely limited by its low amount of RAM, though.

I bet backwards compatibility is just gonna be buying Ps1 and Ps2 classics digitally....meh.
If I could put Ps2 or Ps1 game discs into my Ps4 and play them in upscaled resolution (similar to how PCSX2 does it on PC) I will be sooooooo happy. But I doubt that will happen.
I don't expect Ps3 backwards compatibility ever, anyone who does probably doesn't understand how weird Cell was. Systems with weird processor setups don't even have good emulator support decades later even on high powered PCs (last I checked, Sega Saturn still has no good emulator, correct me if I am wrong), let alone a console only one generation older.

Really should put a Vita emulator on PS4...get the PS1 classics, plus PSP and Vita titles (which contain a lot of JRPGs).

Not sure if that was the reason but Dualshockers had(have?) their fair share of shitty articles based on neogaf posts or twitter from "industry insiders like Thuway" and speculation on what the games will be about based on job aplications, overall rather low quality.

There's console war stuff on most sites nowadays that are still posted on GAF. They got banned due to their false insider info last year before E3. I personally think they should be unbanned, but I'm not a mod and not in a position to decide that.

Nah it's pretty much only a cell issue. I think cell is closer to being able to emulate the PS4 CPU vs PS4 emulating Cell

to me sony (personally) success and reason why i loved the console was mainly due to JRPG and nothing else really, it was my japanese gamebox, still there is 2nd party stuff i guess but thats a sad thing to say.

IIRC, it was slated for this year at some point, but I think they dropped that. It makes sense, considering the game's design is something that avoids combat.

No, you're right. That's probably not hard for them, but I imagine they don't want to do just that, because of the 2,000 friends limit that would get ugly for some.
They are most likely not adding it until they've implemented some better friend's list customization (no, the recent Groups thing doesn't cut it).
yes but they don't call it a first party game because from software ain't first party so technically shuhei could just be saying studio japan alone isn't working on a jrpg but not a collaboration game
