Silksong's release delaying other games.

With Silksong releasing September 4th a few games decided to postpone releases.
CloverPit say it like it is and mentions how Silksong is the #1 wishlisted game on Steam, it's madness to go up against the Hollow Knight sequel.

- Baby Steps moved to Sep 23.
- Little Witch in the Woods meant to leave Early Access and moved to Sep 15th.
- CloverPit moved to Sep 26th

(maybe others too).

I love Hollow Knight but never got this overwhelming praise.
Aeterna Noctis is my second favourite metroidvania after SOTN. Pity the sequel was pushed to next year....

Honestly, fair enough. Silksong will be all people can talk about for a couple weeks.

That Baby Steps video is hilarious. I'm probably more excited for that stupid game than I am for Silksong.

never knew what was the fuss about the first one. and not seeing it in the second game either to be honest. people are just weird ( or I am who cares )

Ya know, For as much as this game has caused such a frenzy in the gaming community, it damn well better "talk the talk" and deliver in the end.

I'm not expecting anything less than an 80 in Metacritic.

Hollow Knight was shit
Silksong will be shit
Don't @ me

Lot's of people have been playing it for years now and they all say it's fantastic. I expect a MC of over 90.

Steam user score is 97%. I expect a similar number for Silksong. The game should be polished and thoroughly tested, not like the botched release of Gears of War today.

Hollow Knight is the 14th best grossing game on Steam right now (50% off).

8 years for Hornet character DLC lol

I'll buy this one

I don't know any of these indie games that are getting delayed so I don't care much. The indies I care about are either not getting delayed or are coming out in 2026/2027.

A 2D indie game is virtually guaranteed 80+ these days, Silksong should clear 90.

Pretty fair.

Silksong will probably appeal to people who don't often dip their toes into the genre. The Steam, all-time peak for Hollow Knight occurring since the announcement (in the last 24 hours, actually), at a very respectable 45k, smashing its prior, 20k high in 2022, should make that clear. No reason to get in the way of Silksong's train when you'll almost definitely be smashed.

Just pulled up steam stats on a few other popular Metroidvanias on Steam (Bloodstained, Blasphemous, Ori). Their averages don't even come close to Hollow Knight's. Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth's all-time peak is 848 :(

Yeah, makes sense. Regardless of how you feel about the games it'd be foolish to go head to head with it as an indie considering the hype. Especially if you're in a similar genre.

Same will happen when GTA6 gets a release date. Any big game will get pushed forward/back to avoid the release hype. If i remember correctly there was some ducking happening when people thought it was coming this year.

Popularity is not indicative of quality. I hope there will one day be a worthy prequel/sequel to Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth.

I've never looked at it before but the Steam description is gold.

"Play as Nate, an unemployed failson with nothing going for him, until one day he discovers a power he never knew he had… putting one foot in front of the other."

That's good.

There's a demo out that you should try. It's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but it was a riot playing it with a friend with a few beers.

So Devolver wants to avoid Silksong but compete with GTA?

Makes sense, I guess. Stick it to the big guy!

The recent Hollow Knight discourse has revealed to me just how poor taste of taste many of you have. I mean I've been here long enough to strongly suspect it, but damn, people.

I played Bladechimera a few weeks ago and it's so disappointing comparatively. :(
Team Ladybug tries too hard with gimmicks. In Luna Night's it was 100% appropriate contextually and very clever, but It think it was dragged down Record of Lodoss War (still a good game).

Makes complete sense, it's a "mainstream" indie, it overshadows the smaller games of that community no matter how unrelated the other games are to it. You'll get lost releasing in that week even among those who follow smaller games..

You see how the hangers on are so pissed we are getting Silksong. They feel left out and are resentful. They missed the Hollow Knight boat and don't like the popularity. The popularity is a mystery to them because they weren't in the right place at the right time to enjoy this masterpiece as it was intended. Perhaps they were busy with life or other games, but for whatever reason they missed the boat, played it(ostensibly) months later and because they missed the zeitgeist train it never hit for them.

Now here they are saying the game was shit, jaded and resentful.

This is EXACTLY like BotW on a smaller scale. We should study this.

I for one tried to promote the game when it came out to minimize this. I tried to help you. A rare moment in time. Hollow Knight was everyone's hidden gem. Ya missed it. You can catch up now though. Play with us instead of after us and you will feel it.

The word you are looking for is fad. Most do not stand up to scrutiny.

I always forget half the time these fucking demos aren't on console. Got all excited to try this after work and no PS5 demo argh.
Damn, I didn't realize. That's dumb.

Silksong is the indie GTA VI.
Except that Hollow Knight is actually a good game. ;P

It makes me think that when I read all the comment "I don't get the praise for HK", I am exactly the same for any GTA games. Don't see anything interesting about them.

But that's fine, to each their own.

Cowards. The two games I had on my radar aren't competing with this in any meaningful sense (Demonschool, Baby Steps), seems odd to postpone because of it.

Aeterna Noctis was great, I really enjoyed the focus on platforming, it kept the traversal interesting throughout.

I was also looking forward to Aeterna Lucis, shame that it's delayed.
