Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

Do they mention if there's something else that takes the place of fishing? That sort of mini game/side quest that people could get into at all? Don't tell me what if so.

There are mini games, but not as many as other Zelda games.

One weird thing is the GT review said there weren't many side quests but I've read other reviews saying there are plenty of side quests. It can't be both ways can it?

They mean quests that flesh out the story, I believe.

Mini games, they said there weren't many mini games.

... Or did they said that for side quest, too? What about those gratitude crystals thingy that helps with a bigger side ques?

Didn't Miyamoto or Aonuma say at E3 that this was the most fleshed out Zelda game, and had the most things to do? This lead me to the impression that the overworld would be filled with interesting areas, sidequests, characters, etc. which judging from a lot reviews sadly doesn't seem to be the case.

I think this is a game that I really can't get an impression of until I play it (moreso than others, that is)

Side quests too, but other reviews have said differently.

Other than that I think their complaints were pretty reasonable.

Good score from GT, but I'm getting the heavy and unwelcome stench of it being marked down simply because it's on the Wii.

Five years in, and I still never let bullshit like that slide.

They did open trolling Wii very hard.

The GT review makes the game sound like total shit but then they throw in one-off unexplained praise like "it has the best dungeons in the series" and give it a high score.

What.

It's a bizarrely structured review that seems to lack any sort of core thesis behind it. It's as if the reviewer was pushing up against the deadline and thought that, oh fuck, he forgot to write his review and so he just handed in the notes he took while he was playing and drew a number out of a hat.

The review is funny after all their complaints. Shane must've really loved everything after the second dungeon. I'm surprised they played the final boss theme.

Well, it sounded like Mike Damiani (sp?) was actually the one who had completed it and I would expect reviewed it. Can't be sure, of course.

Also, on Invisible Walls, they ended up talking the whole time about disappointments, not much of anything about the strengths, etc.

Nah Shane reviewed it. TSA posted his thoughts earlier in the topic.

Ah no fishing? The motion controls for that in Twilight Princess were one of the best parts of the game. Sad to see it not included in Skyward Sword.
Fuuuuck. It's my favorite side game in Zelda.

It would have been interesting to see how WM+ would have affected fishing, but honestly, I can't say I expected it to be in the game.

Knocking the game for not having it is downright stupid. It's never been an essential component of the series.

Zelda is held to impossible standards. When you're the best you aren't compared to everybody else you get compared to your past highs.
